What was with all the tigers as of late? Were they simply very common on Auster, or was it due to some lunar event he couldn't possibly know about because he was a wolf? Probably the latter. The white and black stripped feline flicked its ears back as Hattori stepped into the grove, the dark of his nose twitching as he caught the scent of freshly shed blood. The feline had no doubt made a kill lately and had slunk out here to clean the blood off its coat, only to be caught unaware by a nosey dire wolf.

With a snarl, it swatted at the air in an attempt to ward him off. But for some reason, as though he was merely a puppet at the mercy of an indecisive person's whim, he stubbornly held his ground. Just in time for the white tiger to kick off into a pounce attack, teeth bared and claws at the ready.

Well, she'd really gotten herself into it now. At least the air was a bit cooler now that she'd gotten past the strange sand bridge. The southern summer was brutal! It was supposedly winter here but nary a speck of snow did she see. Birna continued working her way south only to stop suddenly in her tracks at the smell of a tiger. Her ears flicked back. Most of the time she lived to high up to run into tigers but when she did the brutes often stole her kill. She knew she couldn't take one alone at her current skill level so she went about sneaking through the grove. Sounds of a tussle caught her attention. A large, strangely mutated wolf was battling with a tiger. The tiger had part of a kill hidden in the bushes. The opportunity was too good to pass up.

Birna slipped over to the kill and seized it in her jaws, seeking to drag it away while the two predators were busy but alas the deer's antlers snagged in the brush and with a loud snap she gave herself away. The tiger snarled and twisted around to attack her. It sprang forward and she leapt to the side just missing the larger creature's claws. Birna hissed back, holding her ground as she swatted at the tiger.

A tiger was dangerous enough as it was, Hattori was unsure it would be wise to take on another but- it seemed as though the additional cat wasn't here to help, rather to steal. And that was more than enough for it to earn the full brunt of a tiger's fury. It was quick to turn around, lashing and slashing at the spotted cat who in turn was focused to defend itself. Taking the opening, Hattori, grabbed a hold of its tail and hauled back with all of his weight, talons digging in churned up, muddy ground. He didn't usually condone theft like this, but given the circumstances he thought it only fair to claim a part of the kill in return of offering a helping paw- when clearly the strange cat needed it.

Birna's claws scratched the tiger's face leaving light lacerations but the large cat had recoiled back before she could do any serious damage. The wolf grabbed hold of the tigers tail and pulled and as the tiger twisted around to assault the wolf Birna lunged, wrapping her arms around the side of the tiger's neck and digging her claws in as her fangs found purchase in the neck as well. Hunger was a powerful motivator, driving her to be far more aggressive than she normally would. The tiger twisted its head back but couldn't reach her. Instead it flopped on its side and kicked out with its hind legs, catching her in the stomach and forcefully ripping her off.

Hattori was quick to dip out of the way as the cat whipped around to release itself from his crunching grip. The spotted cat was obviously young, but she fought with a fiery tenacity that had her slashing and clawing, latching onto the tiger regardless of the substantial size difference. Rushing in to help pin the cat down, Hattori moved down the length of its spine, making a point of keeping out of the way of its unsheathed talons. With the spotted cat holding onto its throat and Hattori digging in his claws to keep it pinned down, this tiger was going nowhere fast.

Birna rolled over the ground, her limbs stretching out as she caught herself. Ow. Thank goodness she was covered in a thick coat that helped at least a little but this encounter was going to leave her bruised for certain. She saw the horned wolf grab hold of the cat's spine and she kicked off, closing the distance between herself and the tiger in a single leap. She bit down on it's left hip, her claws digging into either thigh. The tiger twisted around, but struggled to get within reach with the weight pressing down. Finally it ripped free and took off without even bothering to look back.

Birna licked the blood from her mouth as she gazed back toward the wolf. He had helped. It was only fair he have some meat for his trouble if it suited him. "You fight like a demon, most impressive. That kill is as much yours as it is mine."
