Training but with a stripy twist
Revenant

Dalila walked out of the complex where the royal family resided with one of Aliana's sons at her side. "Ready for some training?" she asked the black and silver boy with a smile as she looked down at him. She had volunteered to spend some one on one training time with the young boys—partially so she could start getting to know them and also so she could start building her own skills as a teacher. With six boys to train it was going to be a lot of work to make sure that they all got the guidance they needed and she knew Chimera would want to get them started early. It was difficult to imagine any of Chimera's sons not at least having a basic understanding of fighting even if that wasn't their preferred skill so it was really more of a question of when instead of if.
As they walked down to a training area near the beach she heard a shift and rustle in the foliage to her left, bringing her attention up from the pup at her side as her steps slowed cautiously. Even though she felt like they had driven off most of the predators out of the area when they moved in, they still seemed to find their way back onto the island from time to time and she certainly didn't want to take any chances with one of Aliana's children in her care. She stepped around Revenant to make sure she was between him and the sound just moments before she saw a bit of light reflect off of the big cats eyes in the shadows and managed to see the distinctive stripes of a tiger stalking through the trees. "Stay close," she advised the boy, continuing on toward the training area in hopes that maybe the tiger would just go on its way and leave them be.

His mother had told him earlier that day that Aunt Dalila had wanted to start his physical training that day, and Revenant couldn't have been more excited! He was finally going to get some proper fighting lessons so he'd be able to best his brothers whenever they tried to ambush him or pounce on him when he was napping. While they walked down toward the training area, Dalila asked if he was ready to learn, and Revenant turned his mismatched eyes up to the tall mottled form of his aunt with an eager nod and proud grin. "You bet I am!" he said with a happy bounce to his step, tiny black tail swishing and wagging behind him with every step. He couldn't wait to start learning to fight to make his father proud and be better than the rest of his brothers.
As the two wolves walked down to the beach, a rustling in some underbrush and ferns caught their attention, and when Dalila came to a stop, so too did Revenant. He peered through the shadows in curiosity, squinting to try and see what she was seeing, but he was both too small and too unaware to realize what he was looking for. "What're you looking at, Aunt Dalila? What's out there?" he asked, but was swiftly silenced when she told him to stay close. The sudden seriousness in her voice stole away some of the boy's mirth, now trying to stay alert for whatever had spooked the older warrior. "What's going on?" he asked, his voice a little more hushed and cautious, like he was playing a game of hide and seek and trying to avoid being detected.

Dalila was on high alert as they continued to move through the tropical jungle, making sure Revenant stayed close while her pale gaze scanned the trees and her ears swiveled to listen for any more signs of the big cat. "I saw a tiger stalking through the trees," she replied quietly when Revenant questioned her again about what was going on. At least he seemed to understand that something serious was going on and that he needed to be cautious. Before she could say anything else a rustling ahead of them alerted her and she stopped, watching the tiger in question emerge from the trees and step into their path with a growl. Her ears flicked back and a snarl pulled at her lips in response, immediately getting into a defensive stance with her hackles bristling to make herself look bigger than she was. The tiger obviously thought they were easy targets given the fact that she was on the smaller side for a wolf and he was only a pup so it had no problem stalking and ambushing them.
Her paw gently nudged him behind her, shielding her nephew of sorts from the predator. "Stay behind me and if anything happens run and get help," she insisted firmly without taking her eyes off of the striped predator. She considered calling for Chimera, but before she could the tiger leapt at her and didn't give her a choice but to engage with it. She met it half way just to keep it from getting any closer than necessary to revenant, dodging the initial swing of is large paw and biting down on its ankle as she grabbed the foreleg before it could retract. The big cat yowled and nearly pulled her off of her feet as it tried to pull its ankle from her, bit she bit down harder until it tried to rear up to swipe at her with its other paw. She let go and jumped back out of the way, narrowly avoiding its swing.

Revenant saw how anxious Dalila had gotten and knew something bad was happening, but he didn't know what. His guardian did eventually explain the situation to him; she had seen a tiger stalking them in the bushes. Revenant didn't know what a tiger was, but if it got Aunt Dalila nervous, then he was suddenly on high alert as well. As if the universe was conspiring to teach him all sorts of horrible things today, the tiger in question boldly emerged from the jungle just ahead in their path. The black and silver pup gawked in abject horror and awe at the massive feline. It was bigger than even Dalila was! What were they supposed to do about it?! "Aunt Dalila, what do we do?" he asked in a tense whisper, which she responded to stay behind her and run to get help if anything happened. What did that mean?! What was going to happen?!
And then, like a blur of motion, Dalila and the tiger charged at one another. Revenant gasped while he watched the fight kick off. He'd never seen an actual fight before, but it looked violent and dangerous—and so much fun! Dalila bit at the tiger's ankle, and the tiger very nearly whipped the wolf off of her paws it was so strong! "Get it, Aunt Dalila! Kill it!" he cheered from the sidelines, bouncing side to side to try and get a better vantage point from which to observe the warrior in action. But dammit, he wanted to help too! That's when the tiger reared up to free itself from Dalila, and Revenant saw his opportunity to help. Spotting the tiger's weak spot, Revenant steeled his gaze and gathered up his courage to quickly run around the perimeter of the fight, working his way behind the tiger while it was distracted. Then, with a puppy-like growl, he rushed at the big cat and leapt up, biting at the lowest hanging part of the tiger he could reach—which happened to be the predator's balls.
The tiger yowled in pain and surprise as puppy jaws chomped down on its genitals, causing the cat to lose sight of Dalila and whip around, desperately trying to see what had latched on to its sensitive bits and try to free itself. Revenant just kept growling and hanging on with all his might, using needly puppy claws and teeth to scratch at any soft parts he could find at the tiger's hindquarters.

She had been to focused on the tiger in front of her to notice Revenant circling around behind the tiger until after the predator she was squared off with suddenly yowl in pain before spinning around to get something behind it. She blinked with confusion, a quick glance behind her making her realize that Revenant was no longer there, and when she looked back she saw the black and gray pup dangling from the tiger's balls. It caught her so of guard that she didn't know whether she should be furious, impressed, or amused with the pup's stunt. He was obviously causing the big cat a lot of pain with those sharp puppy teeth and claws biting furiously into its most sensitive bits and she seemed to be almost entirely forgotten by her opponent.
She took advantage of this excellent distraction that Revenant provided and as soon as the tiger turned in a way that she had a shot at it she lunged in and bit hard around the tiger's throat. It gave a strangled sound of pain as she bit and crushed down around its wind pipe, shaking her head and tearing vital arteries quickly before she let go and jumped back again. The tiger stumbled, crumpling to the ground as it started to bleed out heavily and struggle to breathe. She darted around as it started to fall, picking up Revenant by his scruff and carrying him away from the tiger just to make sure he didn't get squished under the big cat's weight when it hit the ground.
Dalila placed him down at her paws and waited until the tiger fell quiet and still before giving a relieved sigh, looking down at her nephew with a mix of amusement and exasperation. She chuckled as she shook her head, saying, "That was incredibly risky and you should really never pull that kind of stunt... but that was very funny and very helpful, Revenant. Just be more careful, okay?" She chuckled again and patted him gently on the top of his head with her paw.

No matter how fast or rough the tiger spun around to try to fling the small pup off of its rump, Revenant hung on with all his might. He was in the thick of the fight now, and letting go meant getting hurt and losing. He would not be a loser! He had to help Aunt Dalila win! So Revenant growled and clawed at the tiger's flanks, doing his best to not relinquish his hold while the tiger tried to dislodge him with all its might. Then, all of a sudden the tiger's body came to an abrupt halt, its muscles spasming and thrashing while Dalila ended the fight and its life with a decisive strike to its vulnerable throat. The tiger's massive weight began to crumple and collapse as it died, but Revenant didn't know what was going on until Dalila snatched him away with a quick tug.
Revenant gazed at the bloody corpse of the tiger strewn out across the ground, then turned to stare at his blood-soaked guardian in awe. She had killed the tiger! "Woooo, we did it, Aunt Dalila!" cheered Revenant once Dalila had set him down on the ground, his tiny tail wagging a mile a minute he was so hopped up on adrenaline and victory. But Dalila's chastising of his attempt to help deflated the boy's mirth just a bit—only for it to be inflated once more when she said his plan was funny and very helpful. "But we won, so that's what matters, right?" He gave Dalila a cheeky grin, yapping happily. "One day, I wanna be as tough of a fighter as you and Dad are!"

Dalila chuckled at the little boy's bravado while she licked the blood from her muzzle. She couldn't deny that he had done a good job of helping her even if it was a poor decision and went against her orders so she couldn't be too mad at him. "Yes yes, we won, but we might not always be so lucky, okay? Tough fighters are still careful fighters and defense is just as important as anything else." She tapped his head again with a smirk, adding, "Lesson number one, future tough fighter." She got to her paws again glancing at the tiger that was on the ground beside them. "I guess we ought to-"
But before she could finish her thought a roar from behind her made her hackles bristle and she spun around to see another tiger rushing through the foliage toward them. It was slightly smaller than the first, clearly female this time, and suddenly Dalila realized this one must have been traveling with the first. Perhaps the male had been trying to show off for its mate or something along those lines when it attacked them. The female hesitated for a second, looking at the corpse, before turning back to Dalila with a furious roar. Dalila snarled in return, quickly getting her defenses set once more.

Revenant grumbled his displeasure when Dalila bopped him gingerly on the head once more, swatting at her larger paw with one of his own. What was wrong with being a little daring if it meant they won? His father was never the careful type and he ran a whole pack! "Okay, okay," he muttered, clearly less thrilled by this lesson than he was actually getting to fight. Before either of them could do anything else, another tiger erupted from the foliage, looking to her dead partner before fixing a glare at the two wolves and roaring. Revenant glared back at the large cat and growled in reply. They'd killed one tiger, surely they could kill another! "Let me help, Aunt Dalila!" he said from his position at her side, trying to square off with their opponent and be intimidating like she was.

Dalila squared off with the tiger, snarling as she faced off with the big cat, and didn't take her eyes off of it when Revenant came up beside her. Her ear flicked toward him as he spoke, insisting on helping her. There wasn't time to scold him or tell him to get back since she knew he'd just get involved anyway so she quickly replied, "Fine, but only get close to her when she's facing away from you. Try going for her back ankles and distract her so I can get close." With her instructions given to the boy she jumped in to try and keep the upper hand by attacking first, jumping first to the side and then leaping in toward the tiger with her head tipped down, head butting the big cat hard in the side of its neck. The crystals along the top of her head jabbed at the skin there, drawing blood, and the tiger reeled back as it swung a paw at her in retaliation. She couldn't quite dodge the blow entirely this time and the large claws clipped her shoulder, leaving some shallow lacerations behind.

Revenant was thrilled that Dalila was open to letting him help her out again. She told him to stay away from the tiger's front and go for the back ankles, so that's what he did. He watched while the Fenmyrian queen leapt into battle, stabbing at the feline with her pointed tiara and taking a swipe from the big cat that looked nasty. Revenant cringed, but followed her instructions and began to work his way around the perimeter of the battlefield again, sneaking up behind the cat. Once he was behind her, he lunged for the tiger's back ankle, biting and gnawing at the bony joint. The tiger hissed in anger, but swiftly jerked her hind leg back, sending the pup tumbling away with a kick.
Revenant grunted as he rolled across the ground, the wind knocked out of him but otherwise unharmed. That hadn't worked out as good as he'd hoped, and this tiger didn't have any dangly bits for him to bite onto either! But she did have something else he could get a hold of! Growling with determination, Revenant sprung up and dove for the tiger's tail, sinking his puppy teeth into the cartilage and getting another pained yowl from the tiger who began whipping the small pup around with its muscular appendage.

As Dalila was getting her bearings again from the tiger's swipe, the big cat was at least momentarily distracted as Revenant went for its ankle, making the cat hiss and turned away from her for a moment while it kicked the pup off of its leg. Her ears flicked back with concern, but she fought the urge to run over and check on him. If she did that she'd just leave herself open for a worse attack and they'd both be in trouble. Its attention wasn't pulled away long enough for her to get an attack in like last time and she had to jump back to dodge another swipe instead. Just as she was about to figure out another attack the cat's attention was drawn away again by Revenant, this time with the boy biting onto its tail. The second she saw an opening she gave this one the same treatment as she had its partner—jumping in as soon as its head was turned away from her so she could bite at its throat and damage its wind pipe. Just like the first tiger it didn't take long to get the large predator to succumb to its fatal injuries and once she felt it start to give way she let go and stumbled back, letting it hit the ground in front of her.
Dalila panted lightly for a moment before she went around to check on Revenant, looking him over to make sure he hadn't gotten hurt. "Are you okay?" she asked just to confirm, picking a couple of pieces of grass that had gotten stuck to him when he was rolling across the ground out of his fur. She smiled a little once he confirmed he was okay and told him, "Good... I think that's enough for now. Lets go back and have your mom take a look at these scratches." She abandoned the tigers' corpses and started walking back to the estate with Revenant, deciding he had gotten enough real world experience today that a lesson could wait for another day.

Revenant held onto the tiger's tail with all his little puppy might, even as he was being lifted and swung around in the air. The tiger whipped the pup about, but couldn't quite dislodge him so easily this time. The Klein prince kicked his hind legs in the air while he bit so hard on the tail in his jaws that he tasted blood. Then suddenly the tiger was collapsing just like the other one had, except this time Dalila wasn't able to come grab him in time before he was falling to the ground with the tiger. He hit the earth with a pained grunt, struggling to get back to his paws as the wind was knocked from him a second time. But at least he'd helped kill a second tiger!
Dalila rushed over and began to fuss over him. "I think I'm okay, Aunt Dalila," he replied, patting his aching chest which would no doubt be bruised, but ultimately would heal. "Your shoulder though..." Dalila confirmed his concerns and said that was enough for now, and even though they hadn't gotten to do any actual training, he had gotten into his first fight. They needed to get back so his mother could patch her up. Boy, wouldn't she be excited to hear how he helped kill two tigers!
