Hazel was, really and truly, doing an okay job settling into day to day life. Things here were strange and different, but that was okay... right? Different didn't mean bad. She knew there would be food and somewhere safe to sleep... it was enough to remove some of the strain. Hazel could be a kid again. The question? Did she really know how? When the red and pale girl had been on her own, she'd felt like taking the whole world on every single day. All she'd really been able to rely on was the fact that she had nothing to rely on-- did that make sense? Frick. It was hard to tell what made sense and what didn't, but that was okay.

It had been a bit since her spar with Lis, and she really, really wanted to give it another shot. She wanted to train, she wanted to sharpen her skills, just like the rest of the kids that called the Armada home. So what if she didn't share their bloodline-- Hazel wanted to be strong and a good fighter, just like they were. With as much confidence as she could muster, the girl crossed into one of the training rings and let go a bit of a bark. Hopefully... hopefully someone would notice. Hopefully someone would come to give her the opponent (or the training) she so desperately wanted.

Grimshaw couldn't hide the tired on his face, but that didn't stop him from doing his rounds and hunting some in the morning. If he didn't keep moving and working, then his mind was allowed to wander. Not only would it wander into the darkest pits of his memories, dragging out each and every painful moment of the time he was held underwater by the crystal, but it would also wander to the strong arms that pulled him out of that water and those very arms he slept in most nights. If the pleasant memories and thoughts weren't interrupted by the dark ones, then perhaps he wouldn't be so bad. He'd be allowed to discover what his other emotions meant and maybe even learn a thing or two about himself. But instead he was left to suffer in a cycle of exhaustion and confusion.

He was finishing another patrol around the borders when a bark caught his attention near the training grounds. They sounded young, but curiosity got the better of him. He didn't have anything else planned to keep his brain occupied, so why not answer the call? As he approached, he was correct in thinking the sound came from a young wolf, but his initial thoughts of it being one of Azure's kids was in fact wrong. He didn't know who this was, but if they were here then he supposed he shouldn't question it.

Approaching, he stepped within the ring and stopped across from her, at the other side of the ring near the edge. "You looking for a spar?" He asked, although it was obvious. The wolf was young and certainly not a challenge for himself, but he couldn't always be looking to win. Sometimes he needed to teach too.

"Speech."

A boy showed up when she barked-- cool. Well, he wasn't really a boy... he was certainly a man, but he didn't look like Bas's dad, or Seer (sir), or Mortis even. Still, he was pretty tall, with teeth that showed out from his mouth. Shoot, had she bitten off more than she could chew? Nahhh, she'd be fine. Hazel was convinced that she'd be fine. If it was just a spar, then he couldn't hurt her. Well, he wasn't supposed to hurt her. And if he lived here in the Armada, Hazel was pretty confident that he wouldn't.

Though Hazel was short, she did her best to draw to her full height and square her posture. She nodded eagerly to his question, but took a moment to not look overly eager too. "Yes please." Hazel wasn't exactly nervous-- she'd taken on coyotes in spades during the spring. Still, this was different. "I um, I want to be able to beat Basilisk next time we spar." Why was she telling him this? He didn't care, probably. If she was lucky, though, he'd help her get better.

Unsure of the exact decorum, Hazel just sorta went for it. She pounced forward to the warrior, closing the gap between them with her gaze bright and attentive. Her intent was to land her teeth somewhere between his neck and shoulder, chomp and then get out. With her size slight in comparison to many of the wolves that lived here, Hazel worried that being grappled would spell doom. Moving targets would be harder to catch, so she'd do her best to keep moving.
