It was his first time at a festival, and this one, so far, was wild. There were so many things to do and so many wolves that had congregated. He knew nobody here though. He had been a loner for most of his life, and his father had passed away shortly after he was born. His mother following not long after. He had managed to take care of himself so far, but he had to admit, it was difficult sometimes. When the youth was called up to fight, a wave of excitement ran down his spine and the large male stepped to the ring. He was nearly full height, though he still had the gangly legged look of a child. Though his thicker Ancoran fur did help some to make him appear bigger and less lean, but still. He was sure his inexperience in the ring would give him away.

He glanced towards his partner, noting that she was a little bigger than him and had a set of tusks that looked like they'd hurt if she really wanted them to. He offered her a nod and hoped he could learn a thing or two from this. Looking at his opponents, they both looked formidable, though one was significantly smaller than the other. He didn't have any preference as to who he wanted to go for though, so without warning, he kicked off and barreled towards the big blue guy since he was standing in front of him.

Grimoire narrowed his eyes as his paws ate away at the ground. The earthen toned male sought to get close, though ducked away towards his right (Chade's left) and lowered his head so that his horns pointed towards Chade in an effort to protect himself in case the blue wolf tried to grab for him. Meanwhile, a hefty paw aimed to sweep down the blue wolf's left foreleg as his teeth aimed for the elbow. He wanted to try and get that leg out from under his opponent and potentially get him off balance.

It was time for a fight. Kaija could get down with this. Being competitive wasn't really in her nature, but now that she was on her own she knew she ought to try new things at least once... so why not fight with a stranger at a weird carnival thing? Being around this many wolves was pretty weird for her but she knew before long she'd be alone again, going off on some adventure, so she might as well treat this like another one. Flashing a grin at her partner, who was very much a kid still (though an older one rather than a younger one), she redirected her focus on the wolves they'd been paired up against. At least one was a kid and one was a bit older, though not by much. Definitely younger than Kaija. She tilted her head and tried to fight a slight frown. Some of her annoyance was assuaged by Grimoire barreling toward Chade.

Her own tension fell to the yearling, Arcturus, before she too made a move. She wouldn't wait for long before she kicked off hard and aimed straight for him. He was smaller and lighter on his paws, so she hoped by simply throwing her weight into him she could knock him off balance. As she went to collide with his chest she brought a heavy paw up and aimed to throw it around his shoulders. This was her typical fighting style - using her brute strength, without pulling any tricks.

Chade walked stoically into the fighting ring, a determined look across his features.  This would be another chance to prove himself, to assure Chade he was as strong as he needed to be.  He would have been glad to be put up against an adult but it appeared this wolf was possible of similar age as Chade.  That’d still do.

Chade had brought along his pet, a half-grown cheetah but he noticed neither of the two wolves had brought pets with them.  He could tell Swift not to join in but then again Swift could use practice at fighting with him and this was a perfect opportunity to fight strangers together.  Not his fault these two didn’t have pets.

Even as Chade was deciding one of the two strangers came running towards him.  No pet but he had a fine pair of horns.  Chade had no problems with horns, after all, lots of the prey he hunted had horns also.  Chade lowered his bulk to the ground as the wolf approached, seemingly ready to charge straight into him but at the last moment the wolf pivoted, horns pointed towards him but Chade noted they weren’t aimed to connect, though it could change in a second.

Chade stepped forward as the horned wolf came at him  Chade attempted to bite the horn closest to his jaws, bracing with plans to try and get the wolf off balance but even as he planned that the real attack came.  Chade’s balance was good enough to catch himself as his leg stepped over the tripping attempt.  However, the bite to his elbow connected.

Fine, the wolf wanted his elbow? Have at it!  If Chade hadn’t managed to get the horn in his mouth before he’d try again, if it ended up in his mouth Chade would put pressure on the horn, trying to force the other wolf's head lower to the ground and push him off balance.

Swift, the cheetah, hadn’t been told what he was to do and at first, she just stood there uncertainly.  When the horned wolf got a bite on Chade’s elbow the cheetah attempted to run behind both of them, where she would turn around and attempt to swipe a paw under Grimoire’s back leg.

He couldn't remember the last time he had been in a real fight. Actually, now that he was thinking about it, he wasn't sure when the last time he had really put a lot of effort into training either. As he was walking up to the arena along with Ricin's brother Chade to face their first set of opponents he was beginning to question why he had even agreed to join in on this tournament to begin with, but then he remembered Satira's pleas for him to be the brother she used to have. When he was younger he would have jumped at the opportunity to do something like this without a second thought. He wanted to make her proud and ease her worries over him so badly so here he stood, facing off against a younger wolf with horns and an older, larger wolf with tusks who they were told were named Grimoire and Kaija. He felt Pan climb through his mane as he moved along his back, ready and eager to be in a fight as well after such a long time. He had the bracers that he had made with his grandfather's help on his forelegs and the armor he had fashioned out of his father's bear pelt armor on as well so if nothing else it would be nice to finally make use of the things that were given to him. Bream circled over head, ready to dive in as needed.

He got into a fighting stance, having to do a few quick adjustments as he got settled since this was also the first time he had fought anyone since his random growth spurts over the last couple of seasons. He got his longer limbs figured out by the time the horned male made a rush for Chade which kicked off the fight. His sapphire gaze got focused on Kaija then, preparing himself as she launched toward him. He attempted to doge her initial attack as she barreled toward him but wasn't fully successful, only managing to have her chest slam into his right shoulder instead of them hitting chest to chest. He was able to catch himself and keep himself from being thrown off balance too badly, but since he was focusing on that he didn't notice her foreleg trying to hook around his shoulders. Luckily Pan was at the ready and the pangolin jumped from where he was hiding within his golden mane and tried to latch himself onto the side of Kaija's face with his long, hooked claws around the top of her head. Arcturus tried to use that distraction to reach for Kaija's foreleg that was still on the ground to give it a passing bite, wanting to lightly slice his fangs through the skin on the top of her leg instead of getting a hard grip.
