Fern walks with her head held high, a smile resting happily on her pale lips as she enters the designated ring. Rudy walks with her and her heart thrums with excitement at the prospect of the fight to come. The gray girl has oiled her armor, the leather gleaming in the bright sun and Puff sits on her back, The stoat’s small paws are wrapped around two tiny leather handles Fern had attached just for her.

As she reaches her desired starting point, the gray girl dips her head in greeting to the huge brute and his smaller, but no less deadly looking, female companion. Quickly, Fern sets her defenses and lunges toward the bigger of the two wolves. Charging forward, the gray girl aims to duck toward his left side while leaning in to snap at his front leg. Her plan is to try and continue her path past his side to wind up behind him. When Fern is within range, Puff launches herself toward the brute’s white fur in an attempt to latch her small paws onto it and hold on for dear life.

"Fern"

Rudyard shook his head momentarily before walking into the area designated for their battle.  His head had been itching and irritable a lot lately.  He was enjoying the fun of the festival but it was an irritating edge.  He bobbed a nod of greeting to the pair.  Rudy would have liked going for Chimera himself but as Fern headed to the giant wolf Rudyard charged to the patchwork wolf with strange aquamarine protrusions on her head.

Most wolves took advantage of size when larger and heavier which of course made sense but Rudy refused to do the normal. He ran head-on towards Dalilah as if he did indeed plan to slam into her but as he measured being a single stride away he’d pivot slightly aiming to get a bite on her front left leg, and if he succeeded in grabbing it he’d aim to keep a hold of it and keep moving as if to past her.  The idea attempting to keep her off balance, trying to set up a good stage for a better strike to come.

Rudyard Carpathius

Dalila was well aware that Chimera never would have volunteered to participate in the tournament without her encouragement and not so subtle pleading for him to join in with her for these paired off fights. Maybe she could have asked Cerberus or Cináed to join her, but of the Queens she was the only one that considered herself a fighter and it was one of the things that she and Chimera had in common so it felt like the perfect excuse for them to work on something together. She desperately wanted to participate to test her own skills and make sure she was still improving and getting more used to battle again. Luckily she was able to wear him down and once they were assigned their first fight she walked into the ring across from a pair of gray-hued Hallows wolves, the larger, splattered male across from her and the smaller woman seemingly set on Chimera.

With her mastiffs at her back and her armor firmly in place, she quickly got into a fighting position with a determined expression on her face and waited for the opposing wolves to make the first move. The woman struck first, going for Chimera, which left the patchwork male for her. He was surprisingly agile for his size, racing forward toward her before he pivoted to try and grab at her leg. She sprung backward to avoid him, jumping back a couple feet and out of his reach. As she jumped she gave a short whistle and the two black mastiffs rushed forward from behind her, each one going for either side of her opponent. They focused on rushing past him, weaving a bit to make them harder to catch, before they dove in to bite at his back legs. Meanwhile she focused on resetting her fighting stance and waited to see how he'd react so she could look for an opening.

"Dalila Vista Rocha"

To say that Chimera was irritated would have been an understatement. There were too many wolves here. Being the private type, the massive brute would have much rather been back on the island. Chimera was a homebody through and through. But... Dalila had asked so nicely... As his queen, he couldn't deny her something that was undeniably making her happy. He could see the excitement gleaming in her pale blue eyes and so he would put up with this garbage for her sake.

The pair stood together, fully armored, a slew of mastiffs at their backs. It was up to the opposing side to begin their attacks and Chimera was a little surprised when the woman chose him as her opponent. So she wasn't smart. That was good to know. She wasn't very pretty either. Then again, no one held a candle to Chimera's trio of queens, so he was a little biased.

As the woman rushed him, Chimera watched her movements. It was clear that she was learning, but wasn't quite up to par yet. She zipped past him and all he had to do was turn around, bringing them right back where they started. What a waste of an attack. Her rat thing had jumped toward him, but a wall of obsidian fur blocked it off as the trio of mastiffs moved forward. One of them opened its jaws, seeking to snap the rodent creature between its teeth. Gently.

"Speech"

As she nears his leg, mouth stretching open to try and snap closed around it, a wall of black, white, and red fur alters her course. A mastiff slams into her, causing her stumble sideways away from the huge brute just as Puff leaps into the air. The dog easily catches the stoat in its mouth, snapping its jaws gently around Puff and Fern hears her companion’s squeak of fear. While the mastiffs (there are so many!) derail her original path, the gray girl manages to weave through all the bodies, finally finding a space to turn and once more face the brute.

Ears pin back at anger at the squeaks of fear Puff gives and Fern spreads her front legs to drop her head low and build a low, growl in her chest. Lifting her head, Fern meets the wolf’s one good eye, with her own determined gaze. Lips peal back to reveal the glistening white teeth beneath and the gray girl raises her tail high to curl up over her back in a show of dominance.

She snarls and snaps, raising her head even higher to give a loud, sharp bark at the duel toned wolf. Launching forward, Fern tucks in her tail as she barrels straight at the huge male. At that moment, Puff tries to tug and bite at the mastiff’s lips in an attempt to win her freedom. If she is successful, Puff will try to climb the dog’s face and try to pull at its eyelids all while cussing up a blue streak.

Fern’s smaller frame is on a collision course with the giant dire but, at the last possible moment, Fern will attempt leap up off the ground and try to snag his scruff with her teeth. If she manages to take hold, the gray girl will hold on in the vain hope that she can bring this giant crushing down to earth.

"Fern"

Rudyard missed his target and as the wolf backed up two large dogs ran post trying to get to Rudy’s back legs.  He had intended a straightforward attack next at the smaller wolf but apparently straightforward wouldn’t work so well.  Rudy had to jog forward a few strides to just avoid getting his legs bit by the two newcomers.

One of the dogs grabbed one of Rudy’s legs but Rudy wouldn’t let them keep it.  He jerked the leg away without more damage than losing some fur and irritated skin beneath.  Above him came Rudyard’s defender.  The raptor had been high up, an innocent spectator gliding in the air.  When the numbers became uneven Reddy, the red-tailed hawk, dived down towards the dogs.  The hawk couldn’t truly slam into the dog as it would if it were a real attack so Reddy just flew down fast, screamed hopefully in the dog's ear to take its attention away from Rudy.  

The moment Rudy didn’t have a dog attached to him he ran back towards Dalila.  There was no time for careful sizing up or planning as the other dog would surely be on him in seconds.  Rudy aimed to jump on top of Dalila, aiming to use his body weight and running power to throw her down.  Preferably he’d try to bite onto her neck to help force her down but in a rush, he’d take any part of her flesh that he could.  Amusingly in a real fight, he would have worked on maiming the dogs before focusing on her but in the tournament, Rudy wasn’t going to permanently harm the dogs so things would just stay more fun.

Dalila stood in a defensive stance, waiting for her opponent as he fought off her companions with his own hawk swooping down from the skies to fend off one of her mastiffs. They succeeded in throwing him off his game for a moment at least and when he did manage to get away from their snapping jaws he came barreling at her to try and knock her down before the dogs reached him again. With another whistle her companions fell back just as he was about to reach her just to prevent the raptor from injuring them in its efforts to keep them away from its master and then as soon as the gray-splattered man leapt at her she dropped down to the ground. His jump toward her sent him mostly sailing over her, but his hind legs clipped her back and ended up knocking her over in the process, making her scramble back to her paws before he could do the same and round on her. She didn't try to get up just yet, still crouched down on the ground, and went to bite at his back right ankle to have something to hold on to and try to keep him off of his feet until the fight was called.

"Dalila Vista Rocha"

The dogs did their part, running interference and keeping the attacks from touching Chimera. The massive brute leisurely turned to face the woman again. She growled and curled her tail up over her spine and Chimera audibly scoffed, his lip pulling back in a sneer that flashed his wicked teeth. The only ones that needed to make shows of dominance were those that weren't dominant at all. The fae's need to show this just lowered her in Chimera's eyes.

The growls and pointless barks and snaps were a waste of energy. She was getting herself all worked up while the dual-toned giant was cool as a cucumber. The dogs parted with the merest gesture from the brute, though Roc kept hold of the little rodent in his mouth, careful not to hurt the thing that was pulling at his face. Luckily there was a lot of loose skin there that the thing wasn't really harming him at all.

Chimera could see the anger in the girl's face and imagined that it was frustration at her attacks being thwarted. Anger made you stupid, however, so she could be as angry as she wished. Finally, the grey fae rushed him and the brute prepared himself for whatever was coming. His stance shifted and his head lowered somewhat, but everything still looked effortless. Watching her face, he could see the skin shift as she prepared to open her mouth. It looked like she was going to try and bite him. Better than the first attack, it seemed.

As the fae opened her jaws and curved upwards to bite his scruff, Chimera had already planted his hind paws and raised his forelegs. Bringing his body arcing downwards with a curl of his powerful spine, he aims to shove the loose skin and thick fur of his ruff into the fae's mouth and, with the momentum, slam her into the ground beneath him. That was where all good girls should be anyway. On their backs, on the ground, beneath him.
