Kichi took the canyon path to the taiga, heading towards the water, expecting it would attract something to hunt, prove himself to be more useful as part of the pack.  Instead of hunting though he looked up to see a large grizzly bear staring at him and the small creature behind him.  Torch barked with his mighty tiny voice as if somehow he was a threat to the large predator.

Kichi snarled at the bear, hackles rising up.  Torch acted as if he wanted to fight, though it was all bluff, still little Torch was fully confident that Kichi would keep him safe.  When the bear roared in return Kichi ran at it, the silver and white wolf ignoring the odds to show the bear he just didn’t give a damn.  He’d either kill it or at least chase it off.  

Kichi charged forward and had to leap away with a few fast strides to not get sliced open by a giant bear paw.  It was faster than he imagined.  Far back behind him, Torch barked his encouragement.

Tove had wandered away from the wall, toward the jagged cut of cliffs that lead down to a valley. Someday, she will go down and explore that place. As she approaches the taiga, a strange barking sound catches her white tipped ears. Wait… that didn’t sound like a wolf. However, the snarl that follows the bark has Tove moving toward the source, needing to know what creature made that strange barking noise. Suddenly loud roar comes from the same direction and the nebula wolf races forward.

Silent paws carry her onto the scene and her duel toned eyes quickly take in the scene. A huge grizzly bear is fighting with a wolf and small, fanged deer barks encouragingly at the gray wolf. Okay. One thing at a time. Since she is still moving forward and since she has appeared behind the bear, Tove decides to distract the bear. Nimbly leaping up on the creature’s large back, Tove sinks her teeth deep into the bear’s scruff. It roars in outrage, and works to dislodge the offending object but the nebula wolf holds on for the ride.

Kichi hadn’t realized someone else close by nor did he generally expect help.  This wasn’t even a member of their pack.  Was it one of the ‘nice guy’ sort of wolves or just someone who enjoyed fighting?  Kichi preferred doing things alone but reluctantly the grey wolf had to admit he didn’t have a chance to win alone.

When the bear suddenly had to focus on Tove, the wolf impressively clinging onto its scruff from its back, Kichi used that moment to rush in.   The bear was getting up on its hind legs to try and throw Tove off so Kichi hops up so his mouth clutches onto the bear’s arm, teeth straining to dig in as deep as possible.  Kichi shakes his head, tearing deeper into the bear's flesh.  It seems to work well enough at first but the bear flings its arm back and Kichi loses his grip.

The grey and white wolf scrabbles for his balance, lip twitching in pleasure enough easily seeing the blood oozing out of the arm.  Yeah, it might not enjoy when he tries to put weight on it again.
