Chimera

Chimera's instruction to only hunt with him or just herself didn't go unfollowed. She didn't really know if he was here for duty of the pack or obligation of making her test herself. She guessed she didn't really care... as long as he as here. It was a strange newfound feeling, and one she wouldn't address or consider. Not openly at least.
They had moved to where she had built the shrubbery corral but obviously when they were done here last time she rearranged the corral to take it down. But she left the shrubs and sticks in bundles around the grove. Going to one of the piles and seeing the shrubs where still in good condition, she looked at Chimera and pointed towards another pile she had placed, "Could you bring some of that over to where I built last time?" She started moving her pile of stuff over to make the wall too.

Since he'd instructed Reila to either hunt alone or with him, Chimera couldn't complain much when she asked him to accompany her. The King had finished up his task, making the fae wait until he was done. The pair made their way to the grove where she'd hunted first and it appeared that she would be doing the same thing. As Reila began to set up the bramble chute, she asked if he'd gather the items from the other side. Chi wrinkled his nose for a moment, but rose and did as she asked. He accompanied her here. Might as well help out. Back in Fenmyre, Chimera had been working on clearing out one of the old buildings. It wasn't light work. He'd been doing quite a bit of heavy lifting and was more than a little sore, but he didn't complain or let it show. One rear paw kicked a dried bush towards the chute while he took another between his teeth. It took a few trips, but the building supplies were eventually stacked where Reila could grab them. When that was done, he took to ripping up newer, thicker bushes and bringing those to the pile as well. Sitting down would have just made him stiff, so he continued working, not exactly realizing the scowl settling on his two-toned features. "Speech" |

As they regathered all the shrubs and sticks that Reila had used last time, Chimera also grabbed some newer shrubbery and Reila worked that into the corral to hide some of the drier leaves that had died out after some time. She had specifically worked closer to Chimera when she could, her eyes glancing over at him from time to time and noticing his not so thrilled expression. It was a bummer while she had expected to have some... fun? That wasn't quite it but she was hoping Chimera would enjoy time with her as much as she did with him. It didn't seem that way, or at least by the look on his face.
She took the weeping vine she had brought along with her, tying loops in both ends and then setting it up as a trip wire with some stone pegs. Her paws pressed the pegs down deep and she pulled the vine as tight as it could go so it could get the job done. She didn't ask Chimera for much else, he could relax some or help in whatever way he saw fit. All she would do after was expand the shrub corral a little farther out past the trip wire.

Chimera rolled his sore shoulders with a grumble, not realizing that he was putting off such a dour aura. He was looking forward to sleeping later, if only so his muscles would stop screaming. He may have pushed himself a little too far earlier and it was his own fault. With a sigh and another roll of black and white shoulders, Chimera took up another shrub and fit it into the puzzle that would soon become the same chute that they'd crafted before. While Reila crafted a snare at the back end of the corral, Chimera continued to fill in the gaps, trying to make the area look as natural as possible. Once the fae was finished with her vines and pegs, he brought his gaze to her with a silent. "What next?" "Speech" |

Reila looked up at Chimera as he finished his own work and asked if there was anything else. She pushed all of her weight down into the pegs and made sure the trip wire was set tight enough for the prey to trip over and stumble into the make-shift corral making for a quicker, easier kill when they joined up with it.
She looked around at the tasks Chimera had finished too, admiring his work before stating, "You can wait here and I can herd something in for us to drive it into the trap. You are free to join me too of course." She would leave the decision up to him. She wasn't quite aware he was wore out from work he had been doing back in pack, but he certainly didn't seem to be in the best of moods. She wouldn't let it fester towards her at least. Not outside her own head. She'd go to move forward once he chose his next course of action.

Reila finished placing her snare then looked to him. Again, she gave him the option to stay here or go with her and the giant brute wrinkled his nose. He'd have to break her of that habit eventually. She had no say in what he did. No one dictated what he did. Chimera didn't say it aloud, however. He simply rose and followed the small fae off to wherever she was going. As they moved along, Chimera scented the air. He could smell the pungent odor of equine on the wind and wondered if that was what the woman intended to hunt. Would her snare hold against such a powerful creature? He supposed they would soon find out. "Speech" |

While his unspoken attitude seemed rather harsh, he still came along for the hunt which put Reila a little more at ease not that she showed any bit of dislike towards what she was seeing in him. She was glad that he joined her, nothing else mattered.
As the scent of equine came to air, it seemed the perfect prey for the set tripwire so she went to pursue. Chimera alongside her they snuck carefully through the grove until what looked like standing shadows flicked through the trees. She stayed silent as she glanced to Chimera before moving around an unmarked barrier around their prey. He had done this before, many times. He would know what to do as did she.

The pair moved and soon located their quarry. She did indeed intend to hunt equines and Chimera could see their long legs shifting through the trees. The light illuminating them from behind making them more shadow than beast. The giant man stood beside his dainty counterpart for a moment before she split from him to take the opposite side. He waited, taking the opportunity to roll his well muscled shoulders and neck, preparing himself for the chase to come. Only when Reila began the chase did Chimera show himself and begin running as well. Their prey whinnied and began to flee and the pair were right on their heels. Jaws snapped and snarls flew, encouraging their future meal to run right towards the awaiting trap. Oddly enough, the prospect of killing was lightening Chimera's mood. Sometimes you just needed to sink your teeth into something. "Speech" |

Reila took the lead as they jumped out from their hiding positions and pursued the animal. Chimera in synch with her as if it was nature to do so, well it actually was, wasn't it? She was a little over her head. Reila was more growly than snarly, but the snap of her teeth was an unmistakable noise in their surroundings. The horse's hooves went flying at them, but luckily it was more akin to running than fighting at the moment. Reila kept herself close enough for a reaching contact but far enough away to miss it's swinging legs. And the pair of them herded the tall creature towards the tripwire and corral.
Once the horse was sure to trip over the wire and roll on it's face, Reila just kept it in line rather than going in for the kill. She was allowing Chimera to do so, not out of generosity really but because she didn't want to sink her teeth into it and lose control. She'd let Chimera take care of it.

The pair flew through the grove, herding the horse between them. The bushy corral came into view and it didn't take much prompting for the horse to run down the natural looking chute. Much to Chimera's surprise, the snare held and the equine was soon down. The hulking dire wasted no time in leaping upon the leggy ungulate, careful to avoid being struck, but not careful enough. One kick grazed his cheek, slicing it open. The searing pain brought on even more rage that was just dying to be released. Teeth tore into the throat of the horse and it screamed and flailed as its death was delivered. Blood sprayed as an arterial wound was inflicted and both wolves were showered in claret. In time, their prey was dead and bleeding out on the grassy grove. Chimera stood upon his kill, maw parted, panting as he regained his breath. His gaze cut to Reila and he actually grinned. Reila could barely hear, but saw when the horse's hoof cut through Chimera's face and she leapt forward out of instinct to make sure he was alright. She was standing there as he ripped into the horse, her paws placed on the creature's hips before they were showered in a blood rain. Reila's eyes closed into near slits for a few seconds as the blood spurt waved around until it was empty and dead. Chimera's like, want, need, whatever he felt in that moment in his smile was almost unnoticed as Reila went to move forward and address the cut on his face. If it showed anything, it was that Reila was not afraid of him. Even the big, powerful beast that he was, grinning happy in his celebratory kill, she was not afraid of him.
Blood actually really didn't bother her, not in the ways that other things set her off. She was learning her limits. She let Chimera take the kill because feeling something die in her jaws was what took her away from here. Not the blood, not Chimera's aggression. It may have been odd what set her off and what didn't but it was just the way it was. Stepping onto the barrel of the warm and dead horse, Reila's paw moved up to Chimera's face where the hoof made contact on his cheek, "You were caught." Her eyes squinted as she tried to observe the cut, but the blood that had covered the pair made it difficult to see clearly.

The mans muscles burned as the adrenaline slowly eked out of his system. His breathing was almost steady once more and Reila came to stand beside him, one paw rising to gently touch his injured cheek. He could feel the damage and when she touched the wound, he could feel a flap of flesh hanging. It would have to be sutured. His paw rose to settle over her own and he gently extracted it from his cheek. "It's fine," he assured her. He wouldn't die from it. As Chimera studied the concern on Reila's face, he noted just how much blood and gore was upon her. There was a particularly large glob of blood that was just about to run down into the woman's eye, so the brute leaned forward and pulled his tongue from brow to ear, ridding her of the issue. "Go find a water source and find me after," he instructed. In the meantime, he would gut the horse and prepare it for transport. He'd brought the cart again, knowing that they would be successful and bring home a good haul. "Speech" |

Reila kept her gaze up to Chimera's as his paw reached up to hers and carefully removed it to insist he was fine. She didn't say anything at first, but she wasn't going to allow him to make the trip back with that gash in his face.
As they looked at each other for a moment, Chimera reached forward to lick a stream of blood above her eye that she hadn't even really noticed. She took a sharp breath in as he made contact with her, definitely hinting the strange way she was feeling to his touch and more specifically his tongue. Reila was once pretty oblivious to her actions around Chimera, but now with discovering and exploring the emotions she was feeling she couldn't deny this weird sense of attraction and yearning for him. She'd just continue to keep it to herself forever if she could.
"I can help you with the horse." She insisted back, maybe a little bit like he didn't have a choice but he certainly did. If asked again she wouldn't disobey. "And I'll go find something after to apply before Aliana can fix it up while you wash."

Reila gasped as he licked the blood from her face and Chimera delighted in it. The sound tightened things low in his body and a soft growl pulled from him. The woman was adamant that she could help with the horse and the giant man turned away. "I'm sure you could," he agreed. "I need you to find water." And that was that. Chimera turned and began biting into the belly of the horse, his sharp, shark-like teeth ripping through with ease. Soon he would have the guts spilled out onto the ground. He hoped that Reila had listened and was on her way to find water. Why had he sent her away? Something about the release of anger and tension after making the kill had resulted in some fairly intense arousal. He had been reminded of the times that he'd spent hunting and killing with Viper, though Reila was nothing like Viper. Had the woman stayed, the temptation to take her in the cool puddle of blood would possibly have been too much to bear. "Speech" |

Reila wasn't aware in the slightest how Chimera was feeling, and so when he told her he needed her to find water she lowered her head slightly before turning to go do so. It actually made her feel rather bad, but as she walked out to a water source in the grove, she let the feelings slide. He'd join her at the stream and everything would go back to normal she supposed. She'd make it that way at least.
She found a small stream that ran through the grove, starting to pull the water up along her chest first for what she could see. The water source was small, so they would be able to wash better once they got back to the dams at Fenmyre. She probably couldn't even clean Chimera's wound quite properly either. Still, she did what she could and waited for Chimera to rejoin with her. It wasn't like she would go back home without him after all. Her pelt certainly wasn't perfect but she wasn't too worried about it at the moment.

Chimera watched as the woman moved away, a dejected look on her face. He couldn't help it though. He was helping her become less of a slave. Pressing her into the bloody, muddy ground and having his way with her wouldn't have been very beneficial to her progress, so she could feel whatever she was feeling until he collected himself again. With the guts out of the horse, Chimera then proceeded to remove its head and legs. There wasn't much use for those things in comparison to the weight that he would be hauling back, so he didn't mind leaving them behind. It was more than a little difficult to haul the corpse onto the cart, but he managed, though he paid for it. Now with a sore neck, shoulders and back, Chimera followed the scent of Reila until he found the woman near a small stream. With a groan, the behemoth sprawled on his belly in the water, taking a drink and letting the meager amount of liquid flow around his body. "I apologize if I was dismissive," he said uncharacteristically, his gaze lowered to look at his paws beneath the rippling water. "I was... reminded of something and needed a moment." He then brought his gaze back up to rest upon the woman's face. "You can still tend to my wound if you think it's necessary." "Speech" |

When Chimera met up with her, she gave a little bit forced of a smile to his apology. She appreciated it either way, but there was no need for him to apologize. She thought so at least. "It's alright." She assured him, rising to meet him where he was in the water.
She too laid down before him while looking up at the flap of the cut that as still hidden around spots of blood from the kill. "I just don't want to send you back home in terrible shape." She joked lightly, knowing that the cut to his face most likely wouldn't be fatal with the proper care. This would just be the second time she was sending him back with a wound and she silently hoped that any of his queens didn't think she was doing it on purpose or that this time it was also from her own attack.
Her soft paws from being run through the stream pulled water up to his cheek and very carefully washed the blood, both his and the horses, from around the area. "I don't want to patch it if it's not clean enough, so I can do my best here and you can have the rest done back home."
04-07-2022, 04:14 PM
Reila moved to lay down before him and the giants neck curled so that he could look down at her. She didn't seem to need his apology and followed with a joke that brought an amused twinkle to the brutes pink eye. She began gently running water over his cheek, cleansing the wound of both his blood and that of the horse. He paid attention to how soft and painless her movements were. She was taking great care with him as though he would break. It was... touching, in a way.
As the fae mentioned cleaning the wound and having it patched back at home, Chimera raised one paw and took hers in it, lowering it from his cheek. "Do your best. We'll need to make camp and stay overnight," he informed her, giving his shoulders a roll. "I was sore before the hunt and I'm much more so now. Dragging the cart back without some rest wouldn't be prudent."
Once he'd decided that the wound and himself were clean enough, Chimera lifted himself out of the stream and sat on dry land after giving himself a shake. His dual-toned fur stood out in spikes, but he didn't care. "I brought supplies this time, just in case," he informed the woman. Aside from the waterproof skins, he'd brought a small tent for her to sleep in so that they wouldn't be forced under the cart again.

Reila looked softly at Chimera as he again held her paw in his and then told her to do her best. He said they'd have to make camp out here for the night which she was all fine with but... she was still uneasy about sleeping around him. She wanted to actually be with him, beside him, she had plenty of time to herself to think and remember what it felt like that night they slept under the cart. But it was quickly tainted by what she had done to him.
She cleaned out the wound best she could along with some parts of his face before he went to step outside of the water. Reila followed after him, giving herself a shake too and also with no care about what she looked like. It seemed they were past that.
Chimera mentioned he brought some extra supplies this time just in case they would be stuck out here. "I can pull the cart." She mentioned, really not wanting to stay out here with his cut and with her sleeping conditions. "I'm stronger than I look." She noted playfully, but in no means not telling the truth. The cart was on wheels, and she wouldn't move as easy or fast as Chimera but she'd be able to manage just fine.
04-07-2022, 04:54 PM
The pair made their way back to the cart which he'd already loaded. Reila's words brought a soft snort from the giant brute. "As though I'd let you pull the cart while I just walked along beside." Didn't she know anything about him yet? That wasn't in his character at all. "We'll stay the night and go back in the morning." Though he flashed her a faint grin when she mentioned being strong. He knew that she was strong, but it was his duty to pull the cart and it would wait until tomorrow.
He'd emptied the cart before pulling the chunk of horse flesh onto it. Chimera gave one rolled package a tap with a black-toed paw. "A tent for you so that you can sleep comfortably," he informed the woman. With that, he unrolled the large, oiled fur and began shoving the stakes in the ground that would hold the tent in place. The skin itself had come from a mammoth, which he'd been told was related to an elephant, which he'd seen once. No wonder it was so massive. With the top bracer in place, Chimera swung the skin over top and used little wooden stakes to hold the edges to the ground. The back of the tent was a closed wall of hide, but the front had a flap that could be opened or closed depending on the occupants discretion.
"I hope that's satisfactory," he told the woman after the tent was erected. Then, just as last time, Chimera began collecting firewood, intending on starting a little bonfire for them both. He would be sleeping beneath the cart again, but he wouldn't have to worry about waking up bloodied this time.
