Winter was just around the corner, though fortunately, the mild autumn they'd been experiencing was a sign of good things to come. The previous winter had hardly been an easy one and the herd had suffered tremendously, though she knew their strength would allow them to persevere through the toughest of times... she just hoped this future season would be ane easier one for them as they recouped their numbers and regained their strength. Better times would surely come, though it was just a matter of wading through all the trials that came between.
Kiela heaved a sigh as she continued on her way, noting a strange structure up ahead. She'd seen it from a distance but had never bothered to properly explore it, though today seemed as good a time as any. She had a decent enough grasp on where her self-appointed herd was headed and she knew she wouldn't lose track of them even if she took a detour. The weather today was mild enough anyway to allow for it. Her paws trampled sparse vegetation as she closed the distance between herself and the ship, slowing down tremendously when it drew closer. She'd never seen such a thing up close and she studied it carefully before deciding to go any closer, facing it like one might a strange predator - with equal parts awe and wariness.

He knew he would find some reindeer, though he knew better than to believe that any of these reindeer were from the herd back home. He had been following their scent for some time, eventually coming upon a strange structure he didn't seem to interested in checking out. Amongst the sounds of the hooves crashing on the ground and the scent, he eventually noticed another wolf seemingly herding the reindeer. The excitement almost made his tail wag, having not come upon another reindeer herd let alone someone else herding them.
Sverre would only watch however, slinking along the edge and keeping out of the others way. He was more interested in watching them now, wondering if he'd finally found a place with other northern wolves like him. Sverre knew that he hadn't crossed any borders or really even come near any in a while, and so he could only wonder what this wolf was out here alone doing. Normally, herding took more than one wolf, but he figured instead he'd just watch. Approaching would only scatter the herd and that wouldn't be good news for either of them.

The reindeer grazed a good distance away from the ship. Kiela had her eye on them but knew they wouldn't come too close to the strange structure. Fortunately for them, the herd seemed to be warier of the more unusual places Boreas had to offer than wolves ever tended to be. But the scent of the reindeer and the odd structure up ahead wasn't the only thing the breeze carried her way. It seemed another wolf was lingering nearby, and she warily cast her gaze around in search of the source of the scent. It was unusual to find a single wolf so close to a herd, knowing he couldn't possibly take down one on his own, even given his size which nearly matched her own.
Carefully she veered away from them, taking the long route around the edge of the frozen ship and giving him a half-nod that encouraged him to follow her. If she could get a decent distance from the herd at least she could introduce herself and see if he was a native of these lands. Though she wanted to know more about this ship she wasn't sure it was worth exploring it on her own; she'd always preferred the open skies and trees above her rather than closed, confined quarters. Perhaps he might know something she didn't.

The woman noticed him and offered a nod in the direction she wanted him to follow her in. Sverre was happy to follow, interested in why the woman was interested in the reindeer as well. Perhaps hunting a young or weaker female, but even that seemed unlikely. He was far more interested in finding out if any other wolves sharing his culture were around. It wasn't every day you saw a wolf just watching the reindeer.
He gave the herd a wide birth and followed the woman around the edge of the ship. He wanted to explore it later, making a mental note to stick around or come back later. Once he caught up to her and walked around the corner, he paused leaving a respectable distance between them and giving her a questioning look. "Is that your herd?" He asked, his head tilting back towards the reindeer slightly.

He obliged to her request to come closer, and she studied him carefully as he approached. Kiela wouldn't make any assumptions about what sort of creature he might be but he certainly looked like a wolf that might come from her homelands, though he lacked the characteristic frame usually possessed by most Jarvela. Kiela tilted her head slightly as he drew closer, surprised at the fist thing he said. There was no small-talk, no empty greetings, simply a question - and she appreciated that. It wasn't something she expected him to ask though and she hesitated for a moment before finding the words to respond.
Her voice was gruff from lack of use, laced with her characteristic accent she'd never quite lost. Maybe in time it would grow less pronounced, but it wasn't as if she'd had a lot of practice acclimating to the local accent either, especially lately. "Yes. This herd is the one I look after recently," Kiela confirmed, shifting her weight from one side of her body to the other. She paused then, wondering how to phrase what she wanted to say next, since his own had been unexpected. "It is rare wolves here pay any attention to the reindeer. But you do," she said, as much a question as a statement, wondering if he'd care to elaborate.
