**Takes place before Fall, Year 17 seasonal**
Okay, this time, it really is not Tove’s fault. She stares at the huge polar bear, grumbling insults under her breath as she glances at the small cub behind it. All she had done was go for a walk! How was she supposed to know there was a cub out? The mother bear roars its displeasure and Tove slowly starts to back away. She must be taking too long because it roars again and charges straight for her! Ducking under the swing, Tove slams her body against the bear’s chest to put some distance between them. Annoyed, she shouts, “I don’t want to fight you, ya big dummy!” Word to the wise, when trying to avoid fighting something, don’t insult it. It roars and charges again and Tove dives away while howling for help. Hopefully, she can drive the pair off without hurting the mother too much.

Kichi wasn’t the most noble wolf, no one would ever even think of it as a possibility. He came upon the fight and instead of running to help Tove fight the mom he ran up to the young bear cub and bit into its neck, jerking it backward. Young wolf pups were nice and innocent, probably this bear cub was also but it wasn’t a pup. Not being a wolf didn’t get the protection of youth. The cub of course cried out and that did a great job getting the bear’s full attention on him. There ya go Tove. Can’t get much better of an opening.
Kichi let go of the bear cub as the mom charged. Kichi ran towards it as well at this moment, biting into a paw that was swiping at him. No time to dig in with the bite though as the bear’s muzzle was coming at him quickly. The bear seemed to think biting a wolf in half might quell its rage.

Duel-toned eyes watch the mother bear with wariness. Tove does not want to hurt her or the cub, she just would like them to move on. Apparently, the gray male has other ideas. He appears behind the cub and bites its throat, causing Tove’s mouth to fall open and the mother to turn her ire on him. Okay, it was useful but still… the bear begins to charge her fighting companion and she races after it, carefully jumping up onto its back and latching onto the bear’s scruff. Growling, Tove twists her head, trying not to do too much damage but still enough to gain the creature’s wrath. It begins to wiggle in an attempt to rid itself of the troublesome wolf that is riding her back.

Tove leaped onto the adult's back and Kichi forgot about the cub to go help. As the bear is trying to get the wolf off him Kichi runs in and bites the side of the bear's throat. Unlike Tove he was trying to do damage The bear wanted to kill Kichi and it was quick to focus on him again so that Kichi had to let go before he could get a good bite around that thick fur.
Kichi let go but didn’t go far, running two strides behind it to bite into the meaty back leg, spinning around to keep farther away from the most dangerous part of the bear. His teeth took hold and shaking his head skin was pulled back, blood leaking through. Kichi let go but only to get a better grip, digging his teeth in deeper. The bear roared as it would try again to throw Tove off with far more exertion so it could get to Kichi.

The bear bucks and writhes in an attempt to dislodge its rider. Tove holds on, forelegs wrapped tightly around its shoulders as she continues to dig into its scruff. With a great roar, it redoubles its efforts to send her flying. Taking the hint, Tove nimbly leaps off the broad shoulders and lands softly on the near by ground. Eyes dart to the gray male and sees he means to do harm.
For a moment, she feels sad at the thought of taking down this mother bear but, in the end, they need to survive more than the bear. She runs forward as the beast turns to strike at her fighting companion and leaps up to grab the wound on its neck. Teeth sink in and she thrashes while moving back toward the ground. The wound grows and blood gushes out in hot, pulsing increments. Tove knows the bear will be dead soon enough.
The soft cry of the cub pulls her attention away from her fighting companion and the dying bear. Swiftly she moves to the confused young cub and grabs it by the back of the neck. With a twist and pull she snaps its neck in the most painless and humane way possible. While she does not take pleasure in the killing, she knows she is sparing the cub a more violent death. One so young would not be able to survive without its mother.

Kichi is doing his best to rip into the bear's leg as it moves all about, eyes looking up and down as Tove either jumped or fell off, Kichi couldn’t give enough attention to decide but he didn’t note any sign of injury on her.
With Tove off the bear started to turn towards Kichi and he started to let go. Then Tove was back, biting into its neck. Kichi changed places with her then. Kichi leaped up onto the bear’s back, biting into the wound Tove had been working on. Kichi sunk his muzzle into the torn flesh, biting into the muscles, scraping teeth on the spine before getting his teeth around it, a few gnaws in before he cracked it and the bear fell down.
For good measure, and for fun Kichi gnawed on the bone before snapping it. Now the bear didn’t move, couldn’t move. By the looks of blood coming from the neck, it wouldn’t have mattered. It would have died of blood loss anyway. Kichi glanced to where Tove had gone, killing the cub.
Kichi would have done that also, maybe even as nicely as she did but now they would never know.
