Chade had thought to go hunting and was hoping to find some prey about the area but someone else had shown up and now no prey animal wanted to show itself.  The large bear was taking its time walking across the open land.  It sniffed at some of the downed pillar of stone.  A smaller chunk got kicked along like a stone soccer ball.

The bear on his hunting ground, scaring away Chade’s prey wasn’t going to work out.  A bear had killed one of his siblings and left an eternal scar of guilt in the blue boys heart.  It was also the first predator Alastor had taken him out to try killing.  

Chade had a special pleasure in killing bears.  No matter how many he killed his sister would never come back but, it was a reminder that situation never need happen again.  Chade ran fearlessly at the giant grizzly bear.  The bear turned to face the yearling, a guttural roar seeming to think that would surely scare the wolf off.

Chade made no response to the bear other than to come face to face with it.  As the bear moved to swipe Chade away with a paw the young man leaped over the paw, then straight up on the back, gripping into its neck, ripping at the skin there.  His paws were spread to where each was placed on a shoulder, weight pressed on.  

The bear stood up and Chade was forced to jump off, but the fight had just started, and right now Chade was winning.  Still, the bear hadn't taken him seriously at first and now the bear knew better and would be less stupid.

"Speech"

With a brace of big, fat bunnies clutched between his jaws, Merrick made his way back towards Elysium. He would be remiss in his duties if it didn't contribute something to the food stores. Deer and the like were easy to come by, but rabbits were a little more difficult. They were stupid too. All you had to do was lay down at the mouth of their burrow and throw rocks at the other entrance. The little idiots ran right into your jaws. Easy peasy.

On his way back, Merrick came across the same blue child from before, this time with a bear. With a shrug, the purple brute dropped his catch and rushed in to help. With the blue boy practically riding the bear, Merrick was able to sink his teeth into one hind leg, whipping his head back and forth in the hopes of severing a tendon, or at least doing enough damage to take the leg out of commission. A three legged bear wasn't going anywhere fast, now was it?

"Merrick Mendacium"

Chade had a great view from his vantage point and both bear and wolf saw Merrick coming to join.  As Merrick bit into the leg the bear was spinning around to try and get the wolf.  Chade found the bear tightly circling about harder to balance on than the other attempts to toss.  Maybe the bear chade of tried that to begin with!

With a last bite at the neck, Chade leaped off, the skin having no choice but to tear as gravity pulled Chade and skin down.  Chade spat out the bear flesh, and snarled at its front end.  The bear swiped a clawed fist at Chade and the blue boy spun away to bite the front leg.  Three-legged bears were limited in movement, two-legged bears had an even bigger problem.

Chade recognized the smell of his pack on the stranger but he’d have to say ‘hello’ after the bear was dead or gone.  Right now it appeared it was more as if they killed the bear or if it escaped and died alone later.

"Speech"

Just as the boy did, Merrick noted the Elysium scent. Would you look at that? He was helping a pack member. Didn't that make him nice? He'd give himself a pat on the back for it later. For now, there was a bear to murder.

The boy gave up his perch, taking a chunk of the bear with him and Merrick chuckled, lips splitting in a blood grin before jumping back in to take another bite of the bear. This time he grabbed one front elbow, placing his paws on the bears side and pushing hard. Jaws pulled outward and the ursine's elbow snapped right out of the socket. If you couldn't hear the snap, you could definitely hear the bears howl of pain as it threw itself on its side, trying to get its injured elbow as far away from the jaws of the wolf as possible.

"Merrick Mendacium"

Was that three legs injured on the bear now? If there was anything Chade could feel pity for it wasn’t a bear. The sin Chade carried on his shoulders was due to some bear just like this one. Chade ran in, biting into the bear's neck, ripping flesh away, biting again fast to dig into the fat and muscle below, ripping and tearing whatever his teeth could get hold of.

From the corner of his eye he spotted a paw swinging at him, Chade swung his head about to grab and shake the leg. There was less strength in the limb, it swung easily versus the fight it once had. Whether it was no real strength for it or more of its attention on the damage Merrick was doing didn’t matter right now. Chade doing as much damage as fast as possible was all that mattered.

Chade let go of the paw, turning to bite back at the neck again, sidestepping the paw swipe, more flesh in his jaws as he moved aside.

"Chade"

The boy was a whirlwind of action when it came to the bear and Merrick gave him a moment, chuckling as he watched the blue child work. If he ever had a kid of his own, he wanted it to be like that. The bloodthirsty lad attacked the bear again and again and each time he landed a bite, Merrick felt pride rise within him. This wasn't his kid, nor did he know the kids name, but he liked him well enough.

With the bear weakening, it was time for it to die. With the blue lad on one side and Merrick on the other, the purple giant leaped in, latching his jaws in the side of the bear's throat. Like usual, he thrashed his head back and forth and flesh tore in his grasp. Soon the bear was bleeding out on the ground and it was all done. The giant brown bear slumped to the ground and with one final exhale, was dead.

"Merrick Mendacium"

The two wolves had downed the bear and in pretty good time.  Chade wasn’t a creature of hate but when he looked at that bear it didn’t stop a rush of anger filling him, then leave.  The bear was dead and that was good enough.  

“You’re great!” Chade offered out happily to the older wolf.  He was larger than Chade but, not overly so.  Looking the wolf over at the several visible scars.  The anger that came when he looked at the bear seemed to fade away like a storm cloud dissipating.  “Thanks for helping.  I’m Chade.” If they were going to run into each other and kill things might as well know one another’s names.  Glancing to the carcass and back to the new wolf.  

He hadn’t killed one alone before and thought this time might be his first.  It would have made for a good test but help had come and that was fine.  “So, you just come to help for the sake of helping oooor do you like killing them also?”  Some wolves loved killing, a number of wolves in this pack did but there were some who were far more passive.

"Speech"

The kid turned his attention to Merrick and complimented him. The great brute chuckled. Yeah, he was pretty great, wasn't he? The boy gave his name and the purple brute nodded, his haunches folding as he sat. "Merrick Mendacium," he replied in kind. "You did well," he complimented, since it was honestly due. He hadn't worried about the boy for a minute.

The conversation shifted from introductions to Merrick's reasoning behind helping out. "Killing is an enjoyable sport," the brute responded in deep, gritty tones. "It reminds you that you're alive." He liked killing. Always had. Probably always would. "And you, boy?" He motioned to Chade with a push of his muzzle. "You seemed to have it out for that bear. Why is that?" Nosy? Yes. Did he care? No.

"Merrick Mendacium"

Mendacium? So this wolf was related to the pack alphas?  His color and size certainly matched them.  “Mendacium? So you’re part of their family?  Alastor and Manea are amazing.”  Avacyn was pretty cool but it had been her parents who had let Ry and him in the pack.  It was her parents who had helped build up his confidence.  He was too old to be a child of theirs.  Saracyn was an ass. “They helped teach me how to fight.”  A good explanation for Merrick acknowledging his fighting skill.

Chade nodded at Merrick’s words, agreeing.  Killing was good fun.  At the question, Chade glanced to the corpse and back at Merrick, “I don’t like bears.  One of them killed my sister when we were kids,” some might think Chade was a child but he hadn’t felt like one since that day, “I was helpless and small then.  Now it's their turn to be helpless against me.” One messed up, they all paid for it.  “Killing help keeps you strong.”  There were the serious reasons said earnest but then a smile slipped on Chade’s face, “and,” he emphasized the word, “it’s really fun. I like it most at the beginning. before they get injured.  Honestly, the more dangerous it is the more fun it is.”
