Tyrian picked along the shoreline in search of little footprints. Somewhere around here lurked a crotchety old man and a plethora of children. Valentine had, for reasons Tyrian had yet to suss out, taken up residence along the river instead of with family in a pack. Fireside he understood as it was a bit full, but what about the Pirates? They had room. They could look after the brood or at the very least keep an eye on Valentine keeping an eye on the brood. Be withing yelling distance, at least.

He worried, okay? The old man was just that - an old man. Spry and feisty as he may have been sooner or later that fact was going to catch up with him. Tyrian just wanted to make sure he had a plan in mind. So, knowing as he did that he was risking a mauling, Tyrian had come to the River today to ask his dad about his long term plans. He just needed some assurance that everything was taken care of. It really wasn't that big of a deal and there was no need for his dad to get pissy about it, right? ...Right?

A smudge caught his eye and Tyrian paused to brush away a piece of driftwood. Underneath was a smallish footprint. He was getting close.

Tyrian has a saber-toothed snow leopard companion named Zahir, a black-footed gray langur named Tashi and a striped skunk companion he insists on calling Righty even though her name is Daisy. Assume all are nearby if not mentioned.

She wasn't sure why they lived by the river. Though she supposed she tolerated it because she could do what she wanted, when she wanted. Of course, without earning the ire of her grandfather. She trained day in and day out, trying to hone her skills to the best of her ability. Though some part of her longed for some sort of better structure like what a pack could offer. She kept to herself mostly. Though that had more to do with the fact she had been sick for a while, now she was better and ready to mingle with her littermates and family once again. She didn't want to be known as weak. She had a name to uphold be it Finnvi or Imperialis, she wanted to do them proud.

She raced back and forth along the shoreline, careful not to get too close to the edge so as not to fall in. Though eventually she stopped and began to stalk the trail of a beaver she had come across. Crawling under a piece of driftwood, she edged her way along the shore until she spotted it. It was a large specimen, and upon getting a closer look, would feed her for a couple of days at least. Smirking, she wiggled her rump as she stalked forward. The squelch of mud beneath her paws was irritating to say the last, but she was determined to get to that beaver.

She was doing well so far. That is, until she stepped in a spot that sucked her paw into the ground. She fell forward with the least amount of grace possible, and her struggle was all that was needed to alert the beaver to her presence. It slid into the water, slapping the surface with its tail before it disappeared beneath the surface. Grumbling and cursing under her breath like a sailor, she wiggled her leg out until she managed to wrench herself free. Her right foreleg was coated in mud, thick and heavy as it slicked the fur down. She kicked a rock at the water, pissed that she had just foiled her own hunt...

The beaver's warning clap brought Tyrian's head up. With twitching whiskers he peered out over the water and then back to the shore in search of the danger. It couldn't have been him unless the beaver was overly vigilant so what, then? Ah- his eyes landed on the dark Jupiter-esque shape. There was the danger. A couple seasons ago he would have meant that in jest, but if the looks of this one child was any indicator the litter was going to be quite formidable indeed. He couldn't tell from this distance which one had alarmed the beaver, but they were big; easily a head taller than most children their age.

He approached at an easy pace and watched as the kid shook out their muck covered leg. When her markings finally jumped out at him he was able to finally make an identification: Brida. One of the scrappy ones. "Beaver, huh? That's quite the challenging prey. Have you caught one before?"
