It was getting unbearable, the itch beneath her skin. Of course Gil was being a perfect gentleman, and if she was perfectly honest it was driving her up the damn wall. If she hung around any longer her moon eyes might evolve into some sort of assault, and she didn’t want that, so Modesty had headed out from the beach and into the prairie (since swimming in the cold ocean was a lie and did her raging hormones no good at all). She didn’t like hunting, but maybe if she found a nice rock to sun herself on, it’d suck some of the heat out of her bones and return it to the earth… or something, anything at this point to take the edge off. Sure her mother had explained the mechanics of it all, but she’d never mentioned this!. The thoughts that raced through her head whenever her fiancé was near would have made her blush under other circumstances, instead, she just wanted to scream. Why was that man so thick? She flopped down onto the flat topped stone with a sigh, the tip of her tail tapping impatiently. It would be sunset soon, but she wasn’t sure she could handle going home.

He'd lost her. Well, thought he'd lost her. Busying himself with hunting and honing his skills as of late, Gil wondered if he'd done something wrong. Whenever Modesty asked something of him, he obliged. Anything she wanted, she could have. Lately, though, she appeared on edge. While Gil thought himself intelligent, he'd never really cared for the adult side of things in life. Even as he had come of age, there had only been violence and loneliness on his mind. No female had ever caught his attention until he'd come across Modesty. And now that she had come into her first heat, anytime he was around her, something in his belly stirred. He thought, perhaps, that was why she'd been avoiding him.
Today was different though. Normally, he could find her quite easily on the beach or somewhere in the caverns. Not today, though. Worried that something had happened, even though she was capable enough to be on her own, Gil searched to pick up her sweet and tantalizing scent. Thankfully it hadn't taken long and he easily followed her trail out to the prairie. Pausing a moment, he glanced around until he noticed her lying atop a large boulder sunning herself. Everything in him stirred at her beauty. Maybe he was being stupid by letting her make the first moves. Maybe this could be his chance?
Trotting at a leisurely pace, Gil kept silent until he was in front of her. Tilting his head slightly, he smiled a bit more deviously than he usually did. "You smell delectable, my love," he purred in his deep voice as he hopped up onto the rock beside her. While both of their appearances had changed during the long night, he thought her appearance more attractive than ever. Everything about her drew him in. Even as he snuggled up close to her and planted a kiss on her cheek, he hoped he was doing the right thing. "Tell me what's on your mind?" Gil whispered into her ears as he tugged on it gently.

Modesty's nostrils flared, betraying her annoyance, a tut and a sigh leaving her chest as he snuggled in close and stoked the embers in her belly to a blaze. “Delectable he says.” She seemed to be addressing the jackalope that was grazing nearby, “Like rotting flesh you mean?” her head tipped dangerously and there was something off about the smile she gave that made her anxiety just that little more evident. “Is that why you don't want to do... that thing with me?” She would be lying to herself if she didn't admit her mother's rather clinical description still left a burning of bile at the back of her throat and honestly, how romantic would it be if he did make a move and she threw up all over him? “I mean I can find someone else if you want, mum said if I don't have pups God will turn me mortal, not having pups is as bad as sleeping with your brother... Apparently...?”
“Speech.”
Her behavior was interesting, to say the least. Like rotting flesh? Confusion struck across his features as Gil tried to figure out what in the world she meant. "No, delectable as in it's hard to resist you," Gil pushed out a throaty growl as he clenched his teeth. How could she not see the torment in his eyes? How hard he tried to resist taking her every day and night? Her next question did sting a little bit and he frowned with a shake of his head. As she continued on, his eyes widened and then rolled back before he stood up and placed paws on either side of her. Standing over her with his muzzle mere centimeters from her, he locked eyes with her.
"Don't you dare ever think I would be okay with you being with someone else," he murmured, stern this time. If this is what she wanted, all she had to do was ask. He was trying to be a gentleman about it, how could she be so blind to it? Everything was supposed to be on her terms. He would wait a century for her to be better. Maybe it was the hormones getting the better of her, but the fire in his own belly would not be stoked this time. "If you so desire me to take it from you and give you pups, then I will gladly give that to you," Gil's hoarse whisper made his throat dry and every nerve in his body stand on end.
He had imagined their first time as being romantic and sweet and everything she'd ever wished for. Not a raunchy go on top of a rock in the middle of a field where everyone could see them. Hell, maybe this way would be more exciting. Moving slowly over her body, Gil swept into action to give Modesty everything she and the Gods ever hoped for.
