The night was young, warm but windy. The skies covered by clouds made it ever darker. But since when Yume stopped her duties because of the weather? Never. She was into patrolling her home's borders. Marking and checking for any intruders. A calm yet femenine posture she adventured herself between the bamboo. Her pink coat made her easily to spot in the darkness and even so in the greens of the day. Her tail was up, having not many thoughts in her brain. Paying complete attention to the environment. Tongue passing over the tip of her nose from time to time. Feline like paws quiet, eyes of blue lurking through the black. Between her jaws her sword remained, ready to be used when needed.

Usagi had been doing much the same as his packmate - wandering the bamboo, thoughts sometimes passing by in his head, and doing his duties all at the same time. The nighttime was peaceful, clouds obscuring the sky of deep blue and oblivion. Yet, it made it seem all the more serene, and he took advantage of the silence he was often robbed of during the day. The new children of the pack were demanding and tiring, nagging him for sword fighting lessons and spars. He engaged them the best he could, but he didn’t tolerate their fickle attitudes. Alas, he was older than them, and had to be a role model for how they should think and behave. Then again, he also wasn’t a babysitter. Thus, when the day was said and done, instead of heading back to sleep with his brother, he decided to wander the maze, ensuring all was well.

He hadn’t expected to come across the familiar pink dire he’d met a few times before. He wasn’t incredibly familiar with her, but knew enough that she was direct, straightforward, and a capable warrior. It was all a pack could ask for in its members. The smaller flop-eared wolf had his own double-bladed sword, sheath and slung over his shoulder, and as he approached a clearing he often used for spars, he encountered her there. "Yaeume," He greeted in his emotionless tone, offering a brief dip of his head in greeting. He wasn’t super cordial, but remained polite. His mossy faze flickered towards her katana, and a thought popped into his head. They werein the perfect spot for a spar, weren’t they? A quick practice of their skills could be what they both needed. He never stopped improving his skills as a Hohei, after all. "How about a spar? You can have the first move." With that, the lean male grabbed his sword from the sheath, grabbing it between his jaws and standing firm in the ground, head lowered and nub tail tucked. A bit of sword-fighting would be exciting as well, seeing as he hadn’t encountered many sword-wielding wolves.

As she walked she took her time to observe very carefully the surroundings, quiet so she could hear anything out of place. Her pink coat moving along the wind, welcoming the cool embrace that refreshed her system. And she wondered if it would rain. It seemed like it and as she loved rain she didnt want to be caught upon it. She walked further until a clearing but too see Usagi waiting for her. She smirked, understanding his suggestive pose and then his words. "Usagi," Copying his greeting to mock him. She liked him, his hardworking nature. "Of course," She would then aim to flip her sword so the cutting edge was in the opposite side. To aboid cutting him. The blade was reserved for foes and prey alone.

And like that she would run forward, lowering her head and neck to cut the wind and be quicker. Quickly she would approach and aim to turn to his right(her left) Aiming to hit him on his shoulder with the back of the blade, again for not to cut him. Just to hit him.

Usagi normally wouldn’t appreciate a playful tone - but seeing as she was a packmate he respected, he let her smirk slide and appreciated her willingness to partake in the spar. After all, they both had to work hard to distinguish themselves as Hohei. It was an honorable thing to do - a duty, a privilege.

He spread his toes into the earth to distribute his weight, even against the much larger femme. He still had some level of bulk, concentrated in the shoulders and the thighs from his specific type of combat training. Thus, as the pink koi spurred into motion, he prepared himself firmly, his mossy gaze flicking instantly to the warrior’s approach. She was good, and he knew she wasn’t going to hurt him from the way her dull side of the blade was turned towards him. He made a similar move with his own sword - though his was double-edged, it had become fairly dull from lack of use, and he carried it so as to have the flat side face the woman’s sword to minimize, if not eliminate, any risk of accidental cuts. Safety was priority, even in a spar.

He swiftly dipped his shoulder, feeling the swift whoosh of Ume’s blade hit the air. In an instant, Usagi braced himself, lowering his left half of his body while using his sword to aim to block hers, and using the momentum from his bent body, would aim to push her back with his weight and his sword - hopefully to push him back evenly on all fours. He would then, if successful, sharply tip one of his blades to press into hers in an effort to push it into the ground - a simple move, and not harmful, only to destabilize her a little.

She knew better not to harm somone she was supposed to protect like a clan-mate. And for that she only used a fraction of the intensity she would do against a real enemy. Her own paws planted and digging into the soil, aiming not to be get off too easily. Her tail up behind her for balance. Blades clashed, much like she would do back in her home land. How much memories this sprouted? Many and she would give Usagi the credit for it,and as a thanks she would do her best to bring in a good fight for both of them.

He lowered himself, allowing her blade to barely make any contact with him beside some hair but nothing else. Now both swords met in the track, crashing and making iron like noises. But within the short distraction with it, he lunged towards her, aiming to push her back, to which she aimed to use her own weight to slightly lift her head and front section of her body to then let herself fall ahead, wanting to use the momentum and gravity to perhaps counter his push, she wanted to use it against himself.

She felt his blade go to hers, aiming to get her balance off. She spred her back toes to retain traction.

The clash of their blades collided rang in the air - like a crisp bell ringing from a tower. Its song resonated with Usagi all too well, reminding him of Iga yet again. The warriors he’d observed as a child had ornate blades with which they defended their villages and fought each other in spars; though, their blades looked much more like Ume’s than his own. He had to admit, his double-bladed weapon came in handy for spars like this, but it didn’t have quite the nimble, more wieldy feel of a sharp katana. The pressure between the two of them and their strengths, though watered down for the sake of a practice spar, still was enough to help Usagi measure out his tactics against his packmate’s. She was larger in height and bulk, and certainly wasn’t to be messed with. On the other hand, his own talents were in being nimble and light on his feet, delivering quick and sharp blows.

Throwing down his blade to counter hers had some purchase in shifting Yaeume’s balance, but upon throwing her weight forward, it was like a shockwave - Usagi braced back against her might, aiming to use her force to his advantage and for his own momentum. In his building counterattack, Usagi aimed to raise his blade, careful not to expose his neck and chin too much - mainly for practice, as in a real fight, exposing arguably the most lethal points on his body would be a poor move. Instead, he kept his head level and somewhat low to the earth, aiming to lurch his forebody forward towards Ume’s blade with his own in an effort to quickly swing it up and tip her katana into the air. Their blades were pointed away from their bodies in this move, so there wasn’t any risk of bodily harm. However, it was aimed to be a quick and swift move, one to hopefully throw her off balance once more.
