As the brackets were announced, Grimshaw plastered a huge kiss on Malachai's lips before running off to start his fight with Aris. She was a smaller woman, but tough and certainly not someone to underestimate. It would be a good spar, though he certainly hoped that he come out on top, though not only in his battle but the rest. Despite his fur falling out, everyone had already seen it by now. There was no doubt that sparring would help it fall out faster, but that didn't stop him from stretching a bit before launching towards the smaller Fatalis daughter. Briar's sister or not, Artorias was his brother and he had Malachai watching and rooting him on from the sidelines.

Charging towards the smaller girl, he reached to swipe her left forelimb out from under her while aiming for her left shoulder with sharpened and extra teeth. He hoped that she would stumble over her paws, attempting to dodge his paw and teeth at the same time and giving him a window for attack.

Aris was uncharacteristically anxious as the tournament began. She had been doing a spectacularly terrible job of proving herself, of making something of herself, and was feeling pretty desperate to make this move the fresh start it could be. This was her shot.

She squared up with her opponent, the dire sized Grimshaw from her own pack that she had fought before - and lost. This time they were not allowed companions so she felt even more at a disadvantage without Tansy beside her.

Grimshaw charged her, reaching out for her with paw and teeth but Ari didn't stick around to see what he was aiming for. As soon as he had begun his charge she sprang to the right and pivoted, throwing her weight onto her hindquarters to bring up both front paws and - claws extended - swiped for his shoulder in a quick motion. Hindquarters coiled beneath her and carefully balanced, she was ready to leap again if she needed to before her paws even touched the ground. She wasn't going to play this like she usually did.

The howler snarled as she dodged his attack, springing to her right and rising up on her rear legs to swipe at him with her sharp cat claws. He was quick to turn and face her before her claws collided with the one shoulder, though now exposing his front to her he would be directly in the way of her attack. Bracing himself, he took it full on and grinned at the pain as her claws tore through the flesh of his chest. With her close, he sought to wrap his powerful arms around her small frame and hold her tightly and close to him as he shifted his weight back onto his hind limbs and began to rise.
