Gossamer stretched and shifted her shoulders, rolling them back and forth to loosen up before her match. She was a mix of nerves and excitement, leaning toward the later upon learning her opponent was going to be her mother. It had been awhile since she'd seen her mother. She'd resigned herself to giving the older woman the space she needed to recover but it had been a long and dreadful wait. That she would get to face off against her mother and show the woman what she'd learned was a wonderful opportunity. Perhaps, perhaps Zee's very effort to participate meant she was finally on the mend.

The call rang out for her round and she swiftly moved to the training area and designated ring. She set her defenses and waited for the match to begin.

Maybe this wedding tournament was a bad idea. By the time her bracket came up, it was clear to Zee that her decision to join had been rash. The gathering she'd expected from the Fatalis - Carpathius union was much smaller than reality, with guest pooling in from across Boreas and Auster. A small tournament of family and friends was one thing, but Zee was absolutely certain she was about to make a fool out of herself publicly and to make matters worse, It would be in her first showing since stepping back from her duties as alpha. She could only hope that if she did lose, it would be to Gossamer in the first round. Losing to her daughter - the blood of Sirius, and a warrior of the Armada - would not be as devastating to their reputation as a loss to another might be. She was unpracticed, still suffering mentally from the trauma of her capture, out of shape, and unpracticed. She might have dropped to the dirt in embarrassment right there in the ring, if her anxiety was not forcing waves of adrenaline through her veins to force her upright. Squaring up against her daughter she did her best to maintain at least the appearance of composure and control, reluctantly accepting that no matter how hard she attempted to hide it, the insecurity in her gaze would be noticeable to those who knew her best. Holding her head high she offered Gossamer a soft smile of encouragement, knowing her daughter needed this as much if not more than even she did. While the temptation to lose purposefully briefly surfaced, Gossamer deserved a hard-earned and genuine win, and Zee only hoped that at the very least, she could provide a worthy opponent for the Fatalis warrior. With the match called, Zee lunged to strike. Her agility brought by her size and stature was one of her greatest strengths, and allowing Gossamer the first move could be disastrous if the heavier girl got a lucky first strike in. Closing the distance between them, she aimed to run past her daughter slightly, jaws parting in an attempt to grab at her right tricep as she moved past. At the same time her hind end pivoted sharply, aiming to align her body alongside Gossamer's and slam her hip into the taller girl's thigh. Her hopes was to remove as much access to her body as she could manage before Goss could respond, leaving only her horned head in range of retaliation. Gossamer grinned at her mother and nodded, indicating she was ready. It just seemed polite to let her mother go first and she prepared herself. Zee was fast so she'd need to keep on her toes. It was unlikely she'd be able to dance away from an attack so she opted to let Zee come to her. Her mother charged and Gossamer tensed. As Zee's fangs launched out toward her shoulder Gossamer's head snapped down seeking to grab Zee's right horn in her jaws so she could swing her head and toss the woman. She felt fangs clip the side of her arm but she withstood the blow and hoped her snagging hold of her mother's head would interrupt any additional attacks.

There was a brief moment of shock and confusion as she felt the pressure of jaws upon her horned head. It was enough to bring the aging queen to pause briefly, her legs splaying hard to keep her ground as Gossamer sought to throw her aside. It had been literal years since she'd been in combat without accessories, without the wrapping of thorns that deterred enemies from attempting a grab such as this one. It was the petite female's greatest weakness in combat and one she'd been quick to rectify the first time Sirius had used them to gain control of her head. How had she forgotten that she'd not been wearing them today? Fuck. Releasing her daughter's arm, Zee wrenched her head abruptly down and to the side, hoping that the twisting of her horned head might force her daughter to release her mutation. She knew it was the only shot she had at turning the fight around, as in a battle of brawn Gossamer would have no issue forcing her to the ground. Gossamer's fangs snagged hold of one of her mother's horns and she twisted her neck, trying to throw the smaller woman but the angle wasn't what she hoped and her mother was swift to react, pulling her horned head sharply down and away, causing Gossamer to lose her hold. Keeping her defenses set she took advantage of her mother's position to face the older woman and spring in at a slight angle, in from her mother's left to avoid the woman's horns. Gossamer attempted to hop on top of her mother, seeking to land her chest on top of the woman's shoulder blades and wrap her arms around her mother's back, with either leg just behind Zee's front arms. Her goal was to use her superior weight to force her mother to the ground and hopefully earn a pin.
