She had stayed in Erys' bungalow for several days after she wandered back to him following the fall out with Balthier, but now that she had a bit of time to rest and gather her thoughts she went out onto the island determined to figure out a new living situation for herself. She knew Erys would be more than happy to let her stay there for as long as she needed, but now it was more of a matter of proving to herself that she could do it. The more she thought back on her life and how little of a say she had in her own life she felt like now that she was forced to do so she needed to step up to the challenge instead of just cowering form them like she always had. She never wanted to be the girl that had laid sleepless and hungry after her and Balthier's first fight ever again. She could hunt for herself, she could live on her own. She was sure of it... At least she hoped so.

Azzurra had gone back to the spot where she had originally thought of digging out a den and while it was a beautiful spot, she decided that in the end she would miss living in the bungalows now that she had gotten used to sleeping in a bed and under a roof with the breeze coming through the windows at night. She went back to the cluster of bungalows near where Erys' was, and she noticed one that was toward the end of the row that was unoccupied. She stepped inside the bungalow and looked around. It was pretty much empty besides a bare bed frame in one corner, but she couldn't see any issues with the structure itself. She'd just have to put a little work into cleaning it up and furnishing it, but... it could be all hers. She smiled a little at that, her short puff of a tail wagging behind her.

Now there was just one last thing to take care of... getting permission to actually move into it. She took a breath and gave a resolute nod before turning and walking out of the bungalow to start heading back toward the middle of the island, keeping an eye out for the pack's alpha as she went. She neared the large compound where the Klein family resided before she finally spotted the large black, white, and slate male. She had never spoken to Chimera one on one so she was a bit nervous to do so now, but Erys was very fond of the King so that encouraged her to go talk to him herself. She approached the Fenmyre King with a polite dip of her head, giving him a small smile. "Hello," she greeted simply, glancing between his eyes and her feet shyly. "Um... I... I wanted to see if it was okay if I moved into a different bungalow on the island. It seems like... I guess maybe my brother has left for the time being, but even still I'd prefer to have my own bungalow if that's okay with you."

Chimera had been meaning to pay a visit to Balthier's sister, but a King's work was never done. He was glad, and a little surprised, when she sought him out instead. The tri-color brute had just finished up a task in his office and had been padding down the long, wooden walkway that connected all of the wings of the compound when he saw the small woman nervously approach. Mismatched ears shifted forward to catch the timid fae's words. She wanted permission to move to a different bungalow. It was amusing that she felt the need to ask.

"Azzurra," he greeted the small woman with a nod. She had mentioned that it didn't seem like her brother was coming back and Chimera nodded again. "He asked permission to leave and I granted it." The brute's pale gaze watched the woman's face for any sort of reaction. Would she be upset by the news or relieved? "He claimed to need a break. Whether he'll return or not remains to be seen." If Balthier didn't return or at least send word to the Fenmyrian King, it would be difficult for Chimera to allow him to return when and if the day came. "I assured him that you would be safe here."

"Come," the giant man began moving across the island towards the bungalows. "This is your home, Azzurra. You don't need to ask to choose your own dwelling." He led the fae towards the bungalows, wondering which she would choose. "You aren't alone here. If there's anything you need, just ask." Chimera was a generous king and cared for his wolves well. Azzurra wouldn't want for anything while she was within Fenmyre. Perhaps she was shy and not used to such a thing, but she would have to get used to it.

Azzurra was somehow both surprised and not at the same time when Chimera mentioned how Balthier had asked to leave. Part of her had wondered if he had just stormed off and hadn't reappeared yet, but it seemed like his absence was more premeditated than that. His claim of needing a break did rub her the wrong way for some reason though and her ear flicked with a bit of irritation, but she tried not to let it show on her face. It made her wonder what else Balthier had claimed or what he had told Chimera in order to get permission to leave. "I see," she said quietly with a small nod while she also grappled with the fact that her brother had also done all of this without saying a word to her. Vanishing without trace and leaving her on her own. Maybe it was hypocritical and a bit unreasonable for her to expect him to even tell her that he was leaving after how their last interaction had gone, but it didn't stop her from being offended that he hadn't. "I appreciate that," she replied when he mentioned how he had assured her rouge brother that she would be safe here. She had no doubt that he had meant it too.

When he told her to come with him she did so without hesitation and walked with him back the way she had come, walking toward the bungalows she had just been inspecting a bit ago. When he insisted that she didn't need to ask to choose her own dwelling, she glanced down with a nervous flick of her ears. "Oh, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't encroaching on too much space... I know when we moved in it was kind of expected that we would share a bungalow so... I just wanted to be respectful of your pack and plans." She wasn't really sure how many bungalows were still left unoccupied on the island or what Chimera's plans were for how many wolves could live here so in her mind it was better to ask than to assume. She glanced up at him again, a small smile tugging at her lips as he told her that she wasn't alone here. "I'm... starting to learn that," she said softly. Erys had been her first big step to finding someone she could trust and be close to outside of Balthier and now that she was here talking to Chimera he didn't seem as scary as he had once seemed. He was still a very large wolf with a lot of strength and power, but he no longer seemed unapproachable.

When they neared the bungalows she spoke up again, saying, "I was considering this one over here." She guided him down to the small structure she had inspected before she went looking for him, stopping in front of the empty bungalow at the end of the cluster a couple of bungalows down from Erys'. It was a little disheveled and needed some cleaning up, but it was still very much structurally sound which suited her just fine. Clearing away some stray brush and finding some things to make it feel more like home were tasks she could definitely accomplish on her own. If it had needed larger repairs she would have been more concerned, but luckily she didn't need to ask for any help with those kinds of things. She hesitated for a moment before she looked up at him again, asking, "Would it be alright for me to take a couple of furs from the stores just to get started with? I'll hunt for my own pelts and put them back in a few days."

The girl didn't let any emotion show when he gave her information about her brother's absence and that was answer enough. He hadn't told her that he was leaving. What a stupid boy Balthier was. Family was the most important thing and here he was, creating a huge rift between himself and his sister. Chimera hoped that the man would come to his senses at some point and come home to apologize to the woman, but only time would tell. With how closed off Balthier had been, the King wasn't holding his breath.

Together the pair moved towards the empty bungalows. There were many on the island and Chimera imagined that this place had once housed many, many creatures. Some lost civilization. Not only were there bungalows along the back of the island, but there were some scattered across the front as well near where the yacht was. The King had just begun exploring the giant structure that stood up into the sky. It was an eerie place but there were hundreds of rooms within. Until he could fully explore, he forbade his wolves from venturing inside.

Azzurra made her choice, leading him to one of the smaller bungalows. Chimera nodded, giving the permission that she had been searching for. Her words brought a low chuckle from the brute. "Your pack," she had said. "Azzurra, this is your pack as well. Is Fenmyre not your home? Am I not your King? You've just as many rights and just as much say here as anyone else." Whether she'd come here with her brother or not, Azzurra was now his wolf. She didn't need to tread lightly in her own home.

When the woman offered to return whatever furs she took from the stores, Chimera's haunches folded and he sat, staring down at the small fae. "You don't need to replace anything. The stores are at your disposal. It's what they're for." An obsidian shoulder lifted in a shrug. "If you happen to hunt and can add to the stores, that's fine. It's not a requirement, however." A big paw lifted and he patted the diminutive fae's head lightly right between her ears. "Be easy. This is your home, Azzurra. Your home. This should be the most comfortable place in the world for a wolf." He wasn't entirely sure of her upbringing, but he didn't want her to feel shy or reserved in her own home. That would make him feel as though he'd failed her as her king.

Azzurra listened as Chimera spoke about how this was also her pack, her home, and how she had a say in things here, how the things in the pack's store of supplies were free for her to use... Even as the Fenmyre King patted her head and told her that a home should be the most comfortable place for a wolf she just listened quietly, taken aback by it all. Up until now her expression had been mostly neutral with a light lift of a smile on her lips while she simply attempted to make polite conversation with the admittedly intimidating man beside her. But, as he spoke, her expression softened and shifted into something resembling surprise and confusion and perhaps even a bit in awe of the unexpected generosity of it all. When she went looking for him she hadn't even expected him to come out to the bungalows with her. She had just expected a yes or no and for her to go on her way. Instead he had come out here to make sure she picked a new home and spoke to her with so much more kindness than she had anticipated. He made everything sound as if it should have just been expected and should come so easily, but it didn't feel like that to her.

She blinked her sapphire eyes as she tried to compose herself, giving a nod as she looked back toward her new home. Hers. This place was going to be all hers and no one else's. In the grand scheme of things she knew it was still within Fenmyre and ultimately belonged to Chimera, but it was the closest to hers she could possibly get. "I've never had anything to myself before," she admitted softly, not looking back at him yet, just looking ahead at the bungalow in front of them. "I've... I've always felt like a burden... So... I don't want to become a burden for you as well." Her mismatched ears folded back against her head as she tried and failed to keep her voice from wavering as she spoke. She drew in a breath, blinking away the tears that had misted over her eyes as she looked down at the ground in front of her feet. "I know there's probably plenty for me to take from and I know that I'm just one small wolf, I don't need much, b-but... But if I can do it myself then at least I'll know it's mine and no one can take it from me... No one can abandon me and leave me with nothing."  Her mother, her father, now Balthier... All of them had left her, all of them leaving her somewhere "safe". Abaven had been safe, Fenmyre was safe. But that didn't eliminate the fact that she was now here on her own with wolves that were practically strangers. Now all of her family was gone.

The Ooze ParticipantHalloween 2020 - Haunted House

The severe emotions moving across the young fae's face were evident and Chimera said nothing as he let her process what had been said. Whatever thoughts were going through her head, he wasn't privy to them. Not until she opened her mouth to speak. I was no surprise to him that Azzurra had felt like a burden. She was small, and from what he'd gathered when she and her brother had joined the pack, somewhat unhealthy. It hadn't bothered the man then because her brother had promised to pull the weight for both of them. Now she had been abandoned and she said as much. She worried about having things taken from her if she didn't acquire them herself. Tears filled the girl's sapphire eyes and her voice wavered. There was only one thing to do.

A big, snow white foreleg circled around Azzurra, pulling her against a wide, dual-toned chest. Chimera was gentle, however. If she wished to pull away, she could very well do so with ease. His neck curled so that he could look down upon the small fae and his voice was soft when he spoke. "As someone that's been abandoned, I do know how you feel." The brute's black toed paw moved up to gently wipe the tears from the fae's silver cheeks before bringing her gaze up to meet his own. "No matter what has happened in your life, no matter who has come and gone, so long as you are a member of Fenmyre, I will never abandon you, Azzurra." There was strong conviction in his words. She was his wolf and whether she felt like a burden or not, she would be cared for by Chimera as was his duty as King.

In an attempt to lighten the mood, Chimera gave the girl's shoulder a pat. "Should we get your new home fixed up?" He'd repaired the major issues with the bungalows himself. The unused structures had collected dust while not in use, so really it should have just needed a thorough cleaning, a few furs and some personal touches and it would be habitable. "Let's go choose some furs for you. Anything that you pick will belong to you alone, my gift to you." Not that they wouldn't have belonged to her anyway, but verbally transferring ownership may have made her feel better. Chimera's mismatched eyes rested on the small fae and he waited for her to make a decision.

Azzurra's eyes went wide with surprise when she suddenly felt Chimera's foreleg slip around her and all at once she was enveloped in an embrace that easily swept her up into his chest. She didn't pull away, but she did look up at him with confusion as he wiped the tears from under her eyes. She was somehow genuinely surprised when he explained that he had been abandoned as well so he knew how she felt. She didn't know much about him, but she did know that he had a very large family here... but then she realized that only one of the ladies that lived in the compound with him was his sibling. The others were his mates or wolves he brought in and his children. He had made his own family here. She looked up into his two toned gaze as he promised to never abandon her as long as she was a member of Fenmyre and even though it was difficult to believe after so much loss and betrayal it was still somehow comforting all the same. She couldn't manage a response without making herself cry again so she simply nodded and leaned her head into his chest for a moment as she slipped her forelegs around his torso to give him a quick, tight squeeze—A silent thank you for understanding and disregarding her feelings or turning them back on her.

As he tapped her shoulder she let him go and settled back down on her haunches in front of him as he suggested getting her new home fixed up. After all of that she didn't feel like she could ask him to help her get her new bungalow ready as well, but with how he offered it she could believe he actually wanted to help. She nodded eagerly, a grin tugging at her lips as she lifted a pale paw to her cheeks and quickly wiped away the last of the tears that had gathered. He gave her one last offering, a gift of whatever furs she wanted to pick from the stores. She understood that she could just take them, but she appreciated the gesture of calling them gifts. It made taking them instead of hunting her own a little easier to swallow. She nodded again and got up so she could follow him to go get the furs, her short tail wagging happily behind her.
