Rudy stepped forward with a smug grin on his face that soon turned to a more loopy smile as he looked at his opponent.  Too bad they had to face off so soon as now only one would get to continue on.  The last meaningful spar the two had in the past had ended up determining who got to ask about being mates.  What would it be this time?  Officially there didn’t need to be anything of course and the tournament could be enough.

“Winner gets to state the season we get married?” Rudy would allow her a second to respond but then ran towards her, a roguish grin on his face.  Fern knew some of his most common ways of fighting but Rudy was always happy to find something new to do and keep his opponent guessing.

The motley grey wolf had used his antlers on the last competition as defense and that had worked out rather well.  It was also a relatively new move for him and something he hadn’t tried against Fern.  That would do!  Rudy ran forward, tucking his head down as if he planned to charge an offensive attack but as he was closing in his head raised up, neck tiling so that his teeth were aimed at her front right leg.  Rudy’s antlers were tilted as a barrier to making it harder for Fern’s muzzle to get to the front of his face.

Fern steps into the ring across from Rudyard, a playful grin spreading across her lips. Pale paws pull to stop in front of the gray boy aa he offers a bet; the winner names the season they get married. Eyebrows lift in surprise as she says, “Oh? You really ready to get married so soon?” It is a teasing taunt, suggesting that Rudy will lose just like the last time. With a deal reached, Fern quickly sets her defenses in preparation for the attack to come.

Her antlered boyfriend doesn’t disappoint and kicks off things by running straight for her. Legs spread wider to drop her center of gravity as she watches him lower those deadly antlers. Oh? This is new. Weight shifts into her back paws as she readies for Rudy’s approach. He shifts his attack, lifting and tilting his head while aiming a bite at front right leg. Finally, Fern moves. Lifting the leg and shoving all her weight into her back quarters, the gray girl stands up for a moment before pushing off with the stored-up energy. She leaps to the side, avoiding his bite and antlers as she lunges in to nip at the gray boy’s shoulder. Eyes dance with mischief as they fight, joy zipping along her nerves as the couple square off.

"Fern Lark"

Rudy’s teeth get only air even as he feel’s Fern’s teeth nip at his own shoulder.  Oh no, she isn’t winning on this bet.  Fern had improved her skills immensely from when they had first met.  Rudy would have to compliment her teacher at some point.

Rudy lunges forward but instead of attacking straight away, he strides past her, taking a circle about Fern and launching up to attempt a bite on the back of Fern’s neck.  If he could get a good grip Rudy would push his weight into Fern, attempting to press her onto the ground.  Let this be a fast win or loss.  One way or another a good representative of the hallows would continue forward.

Eyes dance as Fern moves, letting go a moment after her bite lands. Rudyard moves around her and she turns in a tight circle, defenses resetting as she awaits the incoming attack. He launches upward, attempting to bring his weight down on top of her. Not ready to be squished, the gray girl lifts her body off the ground, lips pulling back as she attempts to slap Rudy with her paws. His teeth sink into scruff and Fern aims to wrap her legs around his body and sink her own teeth into the loose fur of his neck. Because of Rudyard’s trauma around being pinned, she works to maneuver her body around the gray boy with actually taking him down. They had made an agreement beforehand that, if it became apparent that Fern is going to win, he will concede and she will immediately back off. So, she stands on her hind legs, fighting to get control over Rudyard while also attempting to not get pulled over and pinned herself.
