ooc: For reference, the herbs available here are alfalfa, horsetail, marshmallow, periwinkle, trillium, valerian root, and watercress! We need to collect four different ones!

Her and the other queens had done a pretty good job of curating a wide verity of herbs in the greenhouse, but when Chimera began discussing claiming another land for Fenmyre, she began to wonder if there were any herbs growing wild in this new land that perhaps they didn't have yet. She knew the cedar falls was what Chimera had his eye on so she decided to go satisfy her curiosity. If there was rare or helpful herbs that naturally grew int that area then that would give them all the more reason to go ahead with their expansion and secure the falls for themselves.

Even though everyone was always busy with their own tasks, she still wasn't very comfortable leaving the pack lands on her own just yet after the incident that incapacitated her for a time. Because of that she recruited the help of Erystotle to accompany her and then decided she might as well take a couple of Aliana and Chimera's boys with them. A couple of them had begun to show an interest in healing practices so she decided now was as good a time as any to reinforce that. "Alright, lets take a look around and see what we can find," she said before giving a pointed, warning look to the boys. "If you find anything that you are not familiar with do not touch it. Wait for Erys or I to come identify it first." She definitely didn't need one of them getting poisoned by accident.

"Dalila Vista Klein"

Strix is off the island. His mind boggles at the all the strange scents and sights greet him. Sure, he had gone to visit the castle with his family but that had been ages ago. Or… it felt like. When his Aunt had approached the boy of clouded grays and black about the prospect of going to gather herbs, off the island he, of course, said yes. With that, Dalila and Erystotle (the really colorful healer that seems nice) had herded him and his brother Orthrus off to the nearby falls. His first instinct is to rush about and smell everything but the boy reigns himself in, knowing that, if he behaves, he may be allowed off the island more.

They finally reach the beautiful falls and Aunt Dalila lays out the ground rules before turning them loose. Wait, what? They get explore… by themselves? Okay, yeah they have to stay with sight and yeah they have to call if they find something unfamiliar but other than that, they are free. Giving a happy little bark, Strix paws at his taller sibling and teases, “Don’t go eating anything unknown Orth. Would hate to have to carry home.” A laugh follows the shorter boy as he races away to nimbly leap down the short rock cliff to land near the bottom of the falls.

As soon as his paws hit the bottom rock, a strong, spicy smell greets his sensitive nose. A memory tugs at the back of Strix’s mind, reminding him of one of the herbs in his mother’s garden. Lowering his nose to the ground, the boy of black and clouded grays begins to follow the strong scent.

"Strix Klein"

The pearlescent man walked on delicate paws next to Dalila as the two of them led the boys into the territory adjacent from Fenmyre. Erys was much more confident in his steps than Dal, but he had heard rumors of her struggles the last time she left the island without Chimera. He wasn’t really much of a fighter himself, his paws were soft as his body when it came to those skills. He was much better suited as a hunter and a healer. As was made obvious as he accompanied the other wolves on this trip. However, he would have put himself between Dal and any threat that faced them out here. Maybe it wasn’t incredibly smart decision, but he wasn’t worth as much as the crystal crowned queen.

Dalila was a very good mother, even if she didn’t give birth to the boys they led out here. Erys gave an amused smirk as she warned the boys to be careful with the foliage they were all searching for. Erys watched as Strix made his way off to look for his own plants and Erys kind of sort of followed him, but his silver eyes searched out the area around. There was a lot of useless plants, he was sure there were uses for them for someone but he couldn’t use them.

As he was looking Erys could have sworn he caught sight of horsetail, so he moved forward to investigate.

"Erystotle Atlas"

Herb: Alfalfa! Orthrus was excited to both explore what was beyond the waters that surrounded the island, but as usual he didnt say how he felt. He never liked to speak his mind unless he was with the mood or if he had to. Otherwise he could stay silent in the entire time. He followed in silence, following his sibling pretty close, almost brushing his fur against Strix's. He was just wanted to watch over his brother like a hawk, feeling responsible of him as he would do with everyone of his numerous siblings and any he loved enough. He listened, but didnt comment, he watched but didnt touch. His eyes seemed cold, contemplative. Masking the anxiety building inside his young heart. He didnt know anything about plants, only taking on the trade not too long ago, how would he do it? How could he be useful without a clue? He didnt want to ask and be seen as an idiot or bother them. So breathing deep he collected the bravery to move on his own, but not before taking in the warnings from Dalila and Strix. He sniffed, tested the air. But he only did to pretend he knew what he was doing, he just wanted to help and make them proud even if he wouldnt admit his novice stage. There he found a group of plants, but what the heck are these? Taking on Dalila's words and dying of shame he would call out. "Um...I...is this plant okay to collect?" ""

The boys were of course excited to be off the island and out exploring the world, even if it was in a controlled bit of exploring. It was still a chance for them to be out and about none of the less. She chuckled as Strix ran off toward the bottom of the falls, keeping her eye on him as he went. Erys started moving in his direction so she left the smaller boy in the watchful eyes of her fellow healer and turned her attention toward Orthrus instead while also looking for herbs to collect. As she wandered around the land closest to the river and falls she could a surprising amount of plant life so she was hopeful that they would come home with some good stuff.

She noticed Orthrus looking at one plant in particular so she stepped over to where he was and saw the cluster of alfalfa he had found. When he asked about it, she smiled and nodded. Absolutely. This is alfalfa—it's very safe to touch. Go ahead and collect a big bundle of that! It's great for a whole number of things so we'll get a lot of use out of it." She didn't know what Chimera or Aliana's plans were as far as whether they wanted to have more pups or not, but she figured having herbs on hand related to pregnancy was always a good bet with their bunch. The thought made her smirk softly as she turned away from the boy to start looking on her own some more. She spotted the distinctive, wide leaves of a trillium plant up a bit of a hill and she started to make her way up toward the plant, knowing that was a very beneficial one to keep around.

"Dalila Vista Klein"

As Strix rushes off toward the bottom of the falls, he does not notice that the pearlescent healer is slowly following after him. In the boy’s mind, he is totally free of adult of supervision. The spicy smell of an herb reaches him and the pup of clouded grays and black lowers his nose to follow the scent. Black nose wiggles back and forth as the boy walks, his focus solely on finding the yet unidentified herb for his aunt.

When his paws hit water, Strix lifts his head and blinks his mismatched eyes in surprise as he realizes that the plant he has been tracking is watercress! He remembers his mother telling him it helps promote long life in the elderly and something about coughs… dang, he should have paid more attention to that lesson.

Eyes of aquamarine and pink inspect the plant noticing how the herb is made up of clusters of green leaves. Casting his eyes around, he finds that the plant blankets the wet soil around him. Excited and knowing that watercress is a ‘safe’ plant, the boy buries his nose deep into the leaves… and has to promptly pull back as a sneezing fit takes hold. The spicy smell is firmly lodged in his nostrils and it stings. Eyes water as he sneezes over and over and over again.


"Strix Klein"

Orhrus looked to Dalila for guidance and Erys kept half an eye on the other boy as he raced forward. The galactic healer’s paws carried him beside the stream, he wadded through the tall grassed and small trees to reach the reed like plants. The roots weren’t particularly useful, so he had little intention of gathering those. They were pushing out brand new shoots now, as well as flower clusters. Erys would take quote a bit. Thankfully the plant was one that grew and tried to take over fast. It would be better to go out and gather than bring some home for his own garden. It could be difficult to control.

Carefully Erys cut stems from their base until he had a decent heap to bring home with all of them. Just as he was finishing his attention was grabbed by Strix, who was having quite the sneezing fit. Concerned, Erys wandered a little closer just to make sure the boy was alright.

"Erystotle Atlas"

Ort wasn't going to touch it until one of the experts gave the green flag for it. It would be very embarrassing to get poisoned after being warned about it in the same event. Only an stubborn wolf would do such thing. And luckily or as far as he knew he wasn't such type of pup at least not to the point of risking his own life. Their father needed them alive , dead no would be an asset to his empire. Soon Dalila came to the rescue, and as her words left her lips he relaxed. "Alfalfa!" He repeated to better save the name on his memory. Nodding on her command he began to collect all of the alfalfa he was able to.. ""

Dalila reached the trillium plants she had spotted and began to collect as many as the shiny leaves as she could carry without stripping the plants so much that it would be killed in the process. If they were going to claim this territory then they would benefit from the plant continuing to thrive and grow new leaves so that they could come back and harvest from it again later. With her healthy stack of leaves gathered she made her way back down to Orthrus, smiling softly when she saw the bundle of alfalfa he had gathered. "Good job," she told him with a nod after tucking her trillium leaves into a satchel. "Come on, lets go see how the others are making out." Heading down the direction that she had seen Erys and Strix heading, she spotted the multi colored man just as he was going to check on a very sneezy Strix. She chuckled softly and walked over to the pair, spotting the watercress that seemed to be the source of his sneezing and the horsetail that Erys was carrying. They had gotten quite a good haul already! That made this land very promising indeed. She scooped up a bit of water with her paw from the river and used her damp paw to gently wash off Strix's nose to hopefully help with whatever was irritating it. "Are you alright?" she said with a little motherly grin.

"Dalila Vista Klein"

Strix sneezes and sneezes… and sneezes. Goodness he feels like his brain is going to come out his nose! Tears fall from his mismatched eyes as the peppery smell seems to be lodged inside his nose. Through the mist in his eyes, the boy sees the colorful form of Erystotle moving toward him and he points a black paw to the offending plant, saying in between sneezes, “Don’t stick… ACHOO… nose in that… ACHOO. Mean plant!” Dalila appears along with his brother and she dampens her paw to gently rub over his nose. The sneezing slows and Strix moves to the water’s edge, pulling in a long drink to help his throbbing nose. Straightening up, he sniffles and rubs his leg over his runny nose saying, “Yeah, I’m okay. I found watercress Aunt Dalila! Don’t stick your nose in it. Spicy.” He warns his family as another smaller sneeze erupts from the boy. Looking around him, he grins and sheepishly asks, “Can someone help me pick it?”

"Strix Klein"

After Erys harvested the horsetail it didn’t take very long for poor Strix’s sneezing fit to be noticed by Dalila. She was a sweet woman, motherly to all of the young of Fenmyre. She was part of the reason he regretted his sex, being able to deliver their king children, to nurture so naturally like she did. It was beautiful, and something that Erys would never have. He would put the fact from his mind and enjoy Dalila’s qualities as he did his best to guide the youth where he could. It certainly didn’t come as naturally as it did the crowned queen.

Herbology did come naturally for the pearlescent furred man though, and as Strix settled down again he asked for help in gathering his chosen plant. Erys nodded and stepped forward, holding his breath and avoiding the flowers as he carefully picked at the plants. Leaving about four or five inches of stem as he harvested so that the plants could be harvested again after recovery.

Orth was fighting the sensation if importance Dalila's compliments were giving the boy. A boy who always sought to satisfy his family and packs's wishes. He lived to be what they wanted him to be and as he collected them within his mouth a soft smile formed. Was he doing it right? Were they proud? Would his dad be proud of him? Being born in such a numerous litter meant that more effort was needed to outdtand and be seen as an asset to Fen.

Shaking Hsi head free of the negativity he nodded to Dalila's words. Being unable to speak from his mouth fill of alfalfa. He followed as worry came to his eyes. Seeing his brother sneeze. "Wu oka Strux?" (Are you okay Strix?) He said but hard to understand..
