In her increasingly more frequent trips to Firefly Lake as they began to stake their claim and make preparations to make this a permanent part of their territory, Manea noticed a scent train that was very distinctly ursine in nature. There had been numerous bears that they had to drive out of the caves around the island before they could settle there and it seemed they would need to do the same around the lake to make sure it was going to be safe for them to reside here.

She gathered a few of her pack members to accompany her for the task of flushing them out and clearing out the territory. Normally she probably would have just brought Alastor since she knew her and her husband could handle it on their own, but this was a good chance for some of the others to have some fun and get some experience at the same time. Walking out to the lake with Imperia, Arcturus, and Merrick, she began to search around with them for the polar bear she had scented here before. "I caught it this direction before," she said to them softly, pointing around to the right side of the lake.

It certainly didn't take long to find the massive predator, spotting its white form at the edge of the frozen lake, at least partially hidden among the ice capped cattails and reeds. She glanced to her party, pausing among the brush as well to plan with them a bit. "Be smart and don't get yourselves hurt. Merrick, why don't you make the first move and Arcturus you back him him. Imperia, you'll be with me and we'll ambush the bear from behind once they've engaged it. Understood?"

"Manea Mendacium"

Why did it always have to be bears?! It felt like every time he turned around they were having to fight off bears. Maybe that was just the side effect of living this close to the northern portion of Boreas, but his hatred of bears didn't exactly make him pleased about being recruited for this mission. Still, he was glad to be of use for the pack that had provided them a home for the winter so when Manea requested his help he didn't say no. He walked out to the nearby lake with Merrick, Manea, and Imperia. He had at least fought and hunted with Merrick before so he knew the older male pretty well. Imperia he didn't know other than seeing her at the festival, but he also hadn't been trying too hard to get to know everyone in the pack. He knew it was only a matter of time before his family moved on from the pack so he didn't mind too much.

Manea stopped them just as the polar bear in question came into view around the bend in the lake and he looked to the Elysium alpha as she gave them a few directions. She certainly didn't have to tell him twice about being careful around bears, but it was always a good reminder since bears could always hit hard—especially polar bears. He nodded in agreement when he was paired off with Merrick to initiate the fight, giving him a quick glance and a nod. He'd back up Merrick and make sure both of them came away unscathed. He waited for Merrick to take the lead, letting him set the tone.

"Arcturus Indarra"

Freshly healed, Merrick was a little leery about going off to scout and hunt a bear, but he wouldn't let it show. He still limped just a bit and his side was tender. The largest of scars there was still rosy pink. Keelin had asked him not to, but the purple giant brushed it off. He'd fought a million bears. Besides, he wouldn't be alone. That made all the difference.

Coming to the lake, Manea mentioned where she'd smelled the bear and suggested that he and Arcturus draw it out so that she and Imperia could come from behind. The plan worked for him and he wasted no time in enacting it.

The white hide of the beast could be plainly seen and Merrick stalked up to it, a growl on his lips. He snapped and snarled, making a fuss until the bears attention was on him and Arcturus. The bear swiped out at them, though lazily, as though it thought the action would ward off the wolves. Merrick caught the swiping paw with a swipe of his own, talons slicing into the back of the bears appendage. The pain caused the bear to flinch, then become angry. It stood up on hind paws and roared at the pair. Merrick shrugged and roared back as was his way.

"Merrick Mendacium"

It seemed life wanted to stick her to Merrick wherever she went. And as usual now she was paired with her cousin for another task, this time in the hunt of a bear. Expanding had been in their minds and it was time to conquer a new place, and that included whatever animals there resided. It was time to show them who was boss. Eager to kill and help she listened to Manea's words patiently, but hardly. "Fine," Technically agreeing with Manea's idea. She didnt mind causing pain to the beast while the others fought it off. And now she just needed to start whenever Manea gave the word. Eyes cold, expression serene but those murderous eyes lurking around, while she waited. ""

As Merrick went off with Arcturus to engage the polar bear, she nodded to Imperia and led her around to a spot out of sight from the bear but that would put them very close by. Her brother went into the fight quickly with Arcturus right behind him and quickly the bear ended up rearing up on its back legs with angry roars while it tried to make itself look as large and intimidating as possible. It didn't do much to deter the lot of them though and as soon as it was standing she signaled for Imperia to follow her lead as she rushed out from their cover, keeping behind the bear so it wouldn't notice them right away. She darted in and bit hard into one of its back legs, thrashing her head to tear into the ligaments there as quickly as possible. She was immediately met with the sound of furious, pained roars from he bear as it fell back onto all fours now that its back legs were too compromised to hold its full weight. She let go just as it was beginning to try and turn to swipe at her, jumping back out of the way with a grin to dodge it's heavy paw swiping harmlessly toward her.

"Manea Mendacium"

Arcturus followed just behind Merrick as they made their way over to where the polar bear was standing and wasted no time jumping into the fight along side Merrick. He growled and snarled as well to add whatever intimidation he could to the situation with his large mane bristling up with his hackles. Between the two of them the disturbed bear turned toward them and they got its full attention. Now they just needed to keep it so Manea and Imperia could make the first real blows. The bear made almost a half hearted attempt at swiping at them, but Merrick caught the paw and drew blood with his claws which immediately signaled to the bear that they weren't going anywhere regardless of its attempts at scaring them off. It stood up on its hind legs then to roar at them and he and Merrick both met the roar with roar and growls of their own. He spotted a flash of purple and black and white stripes out of the corner of his eye as Manea and Imperia rushed in to take their places behind the bear. Its reaction was immediate with roars of pain as the women attacked its back legs. The bear fell back to all fours and went to try and turn toward Manea, but the Genetrix dodged the swipe. While the bear was turned at least partially away from him he lunged forward to slice his long fangs through the bear's hip and thigh, causing it to roar with pain and increasing distress, its leg beginning to buckle and not support its weight any longer from the multiple blows it took.

"Arcturus Indarra"

Once all four wolves made their presence known and began delivering their attacks, the bear's attention was pulled in all directions. That made it sloppy. Sloppy enough that it was already doomed to walk crippled for life if it made it out of this fight, which it wouldn't. Manea and Imperia attacked the back end while he and Arcturus took the front. The bear turned its head just enough to look towards its side where the golden boy sliced into the bears haunch and it left the side of its neck wide open.

Merrick curled his body, attacking at a backwards angle, placing his big body behind the bears elbow so that it couldn't squeeze him or swipe at him. Teeth found purchase in the side of the bears neck just behind the ear and Merrick wasted no time in roughly jerking his head back and forth, talons digging into the earth to give him stability. Blood filled his mouth in buckets. This thing wasn't going anywhere.

"Merrick Mendacium"

The black and white wolf followed Manea in complete silence, during situations like this she didnt talk, doing all she wanted to say with her fangs. She was here for the blood and the violence, nothing else. They got into hiding away from the bear's eyes but close enough to lounge whenever the signal to attack came through. Eyes scrutinized the actions of the males. Going right to attack the bear head on, and once Manea gave her the silent message, she was right into the fray. Going right to bite hard on the bear's rear, trashing and doing all she could to cause as much pain and damage as her jaws could sustain. The bear rose to its feet but with alot of damage to it's back legs he was back to four legs, launching blows around. Too frenetically to even hit any of them. It turned to blow Imperia but she was quick to dodge it, for then biting hard on the wrist. Blood painting her coat. ""

They were hitting the bear from every angle, steadily ripping it to shreds. It almost wasn't even a challenge and it reminded her why she typically went into these fights with just one other with her—usually Alastor of course. In the twist and dance of the fight she saw Merrick twist around and land a bite at the side of the bear's neck while Imperia caught and bit one of its wrists and that's when Manea decided to strike and start putting this fight to an end. Since she was still toward the back of the bear in question she dipped around to its side and reached a large, feline paw under its tender belly. With deadly claws she cut across its stomach, tearing into its guts and adding a far more heavy amount of blood to the other splatters that had already decorated the snow. If it wasn't already doomed from the crippling attacks they had landed here and there then it most certainly wasn't going to be surviving their encounter now. Hopefully the other predators that liked to criss cross this area would take this as a message to not mess with them or their new territory any more.

"Manea Mendacium"

His bite to the bear's thigh gave Merrick an opening and he was glad that the other man took it. The bear was quickly buckling under their barrage of attacks and could hardly keep up or fight back at this point now that it was all but crippled. The bite that Merrick gave it to its neck prevented it from trying to curl around and retaliate for the bite he gave it so he was able to move back a bit and figure out a new place for him to strike. In that time Manea made a more intentionally deadly attack as well, her claws tearing open its belly with a pained, slightly strangled roar from the bear from how Merrick's bite was pulling and tearing at the edge of its throat. Its legs finally fully buckled under it, its heavy body hitting the ground with a hard thud. It tried to get up a couple of times and didn't quite manage it, but just in case Arcturus jumped to land with his front paws on the bear's back between its shoulders to keep it down and make sure there was no chance of it getting away while the others finished it off.

"Arcturus Indarra"

The quartet all delivered their lightning fast attacks and the bear fell beneath them. It began trying to escape as much as it could, making it just over the edge of the border between the lake and the neighboring land. Well, they'd run the bear out of the land that Manea wanted to claim, but it wasn't going to make it much further. Leaving it alive would have been cruel after the damage done and Merrick knew what it felt like to have your guts hanging out. He didn't really care if the bear suffered or not, but he knew that Manea would care.

Claws and teeth did their work and, with Arcturus' weight on the back of the dying bear keeping it in place, its life was soon ended. Merrick grabbed one big paw and with the help of his packmates, pulled the bear onto its back so they could begin skinning it. Leaving a bearskin was a silly thing to do. He wouldn't process the skin, but he'd take it back so someone else could do it.

"Merrick Mendacium"

Blood bathed her face, and the sensation of warm thick blood on her skin felt...pleasing, almost the same effect of sex. This was intoxicating, calling her for more. Oh how long had passed since she killed? But even though this wasnt as exciting as killing another wolf it was enough for her needs to fill.

The bear came down under everyone's attacks, its guts now spattered of their body. A wicked smile, a very sick one formed. Well it was time to feast, to use it all as the trophy, as the way to tell them all who the fuck was the boss, who would make them perish should they forget this. And Imperia was happy to be her who could get the messages across. She didnt nothing but watch after she helped it get killed. Saying nothing, just watching them use the bear's body. Should she use it too?
