This was an entire shit show and a half.
Wren followed after Sirius, the diligent pupil of his teachings. She paused, spotting Kotori and a young woman she didn't know going at it for Abaven. Was the ground so dry that it needed to be watered with blood? She didn't like Kotori, secretly thought he shouldn't lead if he had a stick up his ass and a holier-than-thou attitude. What sort of leader was that? But she didn't know the woman, and she didn't know that was a worse option.
A few were cheering for either side. Wren gave a nod to Manea and Artorias, focusing her attention on Briar's husband and king after giving the Elysium wolf a polite but strained smile. Figures she'd meet them under this weird scenario. "It's nice to meet you both" she added to Sirius' words "I've heard good things." Which was true but felt idiotic at the moment to make small talk. Sirius immediately left after that, approaching a graying old woman.
It seemed more than a pack challenge was in the wind. Wren drifted to her alpha, wondering if she should throw her lot in. But Sirius was big, strong, and able. He would not thank her, she assumed, for fighting his battles. Get her, Sirius! Instead, she cheered him mentally on. Spotting Audra, she approached the woman with a friendly smile. "This is... something, right?" she sat next to her new friend.

Hattori had seen Theory not too long ago, spoken rather cordially about this or that, the closest he'd managed to get to small talk in a long while. To learn that not only had she gone missing but that Abaven had collapsed in her absence was certainly news to him. That and some were quick to scramble for the open position, familiar and not so familiar faces gathering to watch the claim fight unfold.
He paused as he lingered by the edges, pale brows furrowing as he eyed up the two main participants. One of Sirius' sons and a stranger, one Hattori couldn't even put a name to no matter how hard he tried.
As if this whole affair didn't even have enough fuss, it appeared as though the pirates were stirring up trouble, again. That old hag was at it again, poking and prodding when she ought to leave well alone. Would she ever learn? Probably not, she was too old. Would probably die soon enough, if she kept this up. And what of the other wolf? Hattori was quick to spot the dappled man, from the way he lingered it seemed as though his wound had healed well enough. Hopefully the message and intent behind it had sunk in though, as the Kaicho couldn't say he was quite in the mood to rehash old lessons.
As for what was about to unfold, well. He'd wait and see just like last time.

Well Sparrow had known Theory had her doubts and maybe she had finally taken Sparrow's advice to pack up and leave town for a bit. It was a lot of pressure being an alpha, and being a goody-goody alpha had to be even harder. When the call went out for a challenge, it was surprising, but Sparrow was never one to miss out on a challenge. She loaded her cart with cheaps and luxuries to sip on and wheeled her way to the spot with her companions in tow. When she got there, there was already a myriad of others. So one of the Sirius relatives wanted the pack, and someone else wanted to challenge them, huh? Sparrow pedaled through the crowd, calling as she went "Get yer sips here! Sips for trade!" Her attention was grabbed by Pyralis throwing herself into a tussle. Interesting, a pre-game show! Sparrow uncorked herself a bottle and took a swig, "Kick her ass, Pyra!" she called, taking a second to take another drink. "And try not to keel over- we still need you for raids!" |
Sparrow has a female Harlequin Macaw named Pongolo and a male Capuchin monkey named Friar, and a hairless mushroom tuxedo cat named Beef Sandwich. She also has cat claws... and some weird leg spike things.

True to her name and her blood, Havoc was drawn to the dramatic event unfolding, like a shark drawn to blood. She catapulted into the midst of some real somber folk apparently backing the brown guy she didn't recognize - eyed the fight brewing there with some interest, but since it weren't the Main Event it weren't good enough - jostling past them with just a drawn out, sarcastic "scuse me" on her way past, and came to a halt next to Eligos so fast her gangly yearling body tumbled before she sprawled on her belly to look around, tongue lolling out and eyes bright. Now this was entertainment! She kind of knew Corbie from the hunt, and a few others in the crowd, but mostly everyone was strangers. That didn't bother her none though, she was equal opportunity heckling here. "C'mon, enough yapping! Get to the blood already!" she booed, with only an unrepentant grin for Eligos when he leveled a grumpy stare at her.

The day had come for Kotori to lay claim to what he decided was his. What kind of sister would she be if she didn't show her support? Leaving Aia with Indigo, Aslatiel made her way to the former grounds of Abaven. Of course there were already a million wolves there. A pack claiming was a big soap opera for the wolves of the land. Drama, intrigue, war, all that jazz. It seemed that his claim wouldn't go uncontested. A woman spouted off some silly nonsense about war and blah blah blah. Boring.
Some old broad rose up and began harassing Gossamer and Asla almost went for the woman herself, but their father was there and he took the initiative. The fawn fae's fur still bristled, but she knew that Sirius would handle it. Instead, she went and seated herself somewhat near her mother, showing solidarity for the sake of her younger brother. One galactic eye was on Kotori's fight and the other was on Sirius and Gossamer. Why couldn't people just fuck off and focus on the matter at hand rather than try to show off and steal attention? Maybe their mothers hadn't loved them enough. Who knew?
Aslatiel watched as the battle for the pack lands began. Her gaze narrowed at her brother's opponent. "Make her remember you, Kotori!" Aslatiel called out in support of her sibling. Whether he won or lost, the woman would remember who he was and what he was capable of.

She wasn't out looking for drama to watch, but when she had snuck out again for the day and came across Havoc's scent, you bet she made a beeline to follow it! Her companions were with her today, both walking on either side of her as she hurried to catch up to Havoc. By the time she did catch up, there was a big group of wolves either sitting around or shouting things or apparently, picking other fights. She had never been to a pack challenge before, but she knew enough at least to know what it entailed. She could see two challengers facing off, and one of them she recognized! She had hunted with Corbie a couple of times before, and somewhere behind her, she spotted the familiar pelt of the crimson wolf she had also hunted with! They weren't as important as her main mission though. So where the-ah! There she was! She made a beeline for Havoc, pushing past anyone in the way and not even sparing anyone so much as a glance or a word of sorry as she did so. She plopped her butt down right next to Havoc, a wild grin on her face. "Hi!" She quipped before her eyes started to sweep the field of the gathered. She recognized...oh, was that Ghoul? Whoops. She still didn't know if he was a friend or not...so she had no idea if he'd report her to Recluse for being out here without an escort or whatever, but fuck it. She was already here, and she didn't care about Habari's position over her life anymore. |
As her mate and *ahem* protective detail, Erebos may crash her threads at anytime!
Please note: Medusa is a wildcard! While she is mostly kind, friendly, and eager to help, she can equally be cold, aggressive, and eager to murder you depending on how you treat her! She refers to herself and often, others, in the third person (illeism), and occasionally has tics due to her Tourette's and may giggle and laugh at random, and may twitch here and there. She is a blood & gore type of character, and is not above killing, maiming, or other such violent actions if she's given a reason to do so. It's often in your best interest to not cross her or get on her bad side. Ya never know what she might do c:

ooc: decided it was too weird to try and move this to a new thread, while responding to Sirius as well so I'm gonna try and spree this out quick before the challenge starts. Also, as there can only be two opponents in a claim fight it'll just be Gossy vs Pyralis for now but I'm down for Sirius to get after Pyr regardless of this fights outcome.
Pyralis basked in the cyan gaze of her opponent, drinking in the girl's attention even if it came with insults. She clicked her tongue. "Come now, such insults are more fitting of a pup than a woman. If you want the pack… come and get it." Pyralis swiftly set her defenses, her ears pinning tight to her head, tail tucking between her legs. Her hackles laced down her back as she steadied herself, spreading her weight evenly across her limbs. Her legs coiled, muscles tense and ready to spring. Before she could launch her self forward the large, Armada alpha appeared. Pyralis scowled for a moment then grinned, cocking her head to the side. "I'm sorry dear, what was that? My poor old, widdle ears didn't catch that." Her voice dripped sarcasm. One vs one. Two vs one. She didn't care. She would have her battle and she would have it now, regardless of what anyone else thought. What were their opinions to her? Was she not a goddess?
Pyralis' taut muscles released like a coiled spring, launching her forward as she attempted to hurl herself head on at Gossamer. Shifting her weight to her hindquarters she attempted to lift herself into a rear, seeking to ram the front of her right shoulder down at the point where Gossamer's neck met her left shoulder. Pyralis wanted to badly strain the limb and maybe limit the speed of her younger, more agile opponent. At the same time she rammed her head downward, aiming the ridge of her forehead for Gossamer's left eye socket in an attempt to fracture the arch of the eye socket. It was unconventional, maybe absurd, but she was enjoying every minute of it.

Gossamer worked to steady her breathing, seeking to prevent her limbs from shaking with rage. Thankfully her father arrived and just his presence helped steady her. He joined in threatening the pirate and Gossamer shot a wicked grin toward the old woman. Even if she won she wouldn't taste victory long. Her family would make sure of that. Gossamer stepped forward. "Let me take her dad. I need to get her back for this." Gossy raised a paw to the faint scars that traced above and below her eyes. If she lost she'd just try again, and again, and again until she had that pirate's throat between her jaws.
Gossy swiftly set her defenses, steadying herself. Her eyes narrowed as the old pirate lunged for her. She thought she couldn't be surprised by the old woman but as the attack unfolded Gossamer quickly realized how wrong she was. What kind of nutcase would forgo their fangs for their forhead?
Gossamer kicked forward, seeking to meet her opponent. She pushed her chest forward, right into the shoulder that Pyralis had aimed at her. She timed her exhale so as not to knock the wind out of herself, doing her best to ignore the pain. She would no doubt sport a good bruise for her attack but she hoped that the blow would strain the older woman's shoulder. Ask Pyralis' head aimed down for her own, Gossamer twisted her head sharply to the side, jaws flung wide as she attempted to capture Pyralis muzzle between her teeth.

Pyralis' collided brutally with the Armada girl, her shoulder jarring at the force of the impact as pain blossomed across the front of it. Where she had been expecting her head to collide with her opponents face she instead felt fangs latch across the top of her muzzle, fangs on the right and left side. She gasped in surprise then snarled as she pushed her head down and around in a circular motion, ripping herself from the younger girls grasp. Very well. The girl made her point, she was more than just a play thing.
Pyralis shifted her weight back to her hind legs, lifting her torso as she flung both her front legs forward, seeking to wrap them around the base of Gossamer's neck while at the same time pushing the blades of her bracers into the girls flesh. Her jaws lunged forward, seeking to piece the girl's right eye.

Gossamer's fangs tasted blood and excitement flooded her own veins. Though she only was able to savor it for a fraction of a moment for just as her fangs pierced the older woman's flesh the pirate twisted violently out of her reach before she could get a solid grip. Still, it was worth it just to see the smile on the old woman's face falter. Pyralis sprang forward again with much greater speed than would be supposed of such an old foe. Gossamer had little time to get out of the way but she did her best, leaping to her left as Pyralis' fangs grazed the flesh above her right eye and the blades lacerated the skin of her right arm, just above her elbow. Pyr's left leg slipped beneath her chest but the downward facing blades failed to injure her. All the while with that attack Pyralis had brought herself right to Gossamer whose fangs lunged for the wounded shoulder, seeking to tear the ligaments and tendons that held the shoulder to the side of the pirate's body.

Even with his progressively worsening sight, Aryn's sudden departure hadn't gone unnoticed by him for long at all. Veigar had taken to keeping a close eye on her - well, as close of an eye as he could keep on her - even though she was technically one of the wolves he'd always considered to be one of his parental figures. And though things hadn't been terribly exciting in Habari as of late he was determined to make sure things stayed that way, at least when it came to Aryn. He needed her here with him, alive and in one piece, and he knew Recluse would show even less mercy the next time Aryn betrayed her.
With his sight taking a sharp turn for the worse lately he became even more desperate to keep things exactly as they were. He had no control over his failing vision, worsening with each season that passed, but he could fight to keep control of the things around him.
And he would, tooth and nail. As soon as he caught wind of Aryn's scent heading east and away from Habari's lands he felt unease brewing inside his chest, quickly giving way to something more like full-blown panic when he realized she hadn't simply gone somewhere on her own. It'd been a long time since he'd even left the pack borders, though he hoped nobody had paid much mind to it. So far he hadn't aroused any suspicion, not that he knew of at least, and he was determined for things to stay that way for the indeterminate future. If anything, he'd seemed more irritable and distracted as of late, and he hoped he could blame any potential clumsiness on that and nothing else.
Veigar worried though if he found himself having to chase Aryn all over the world, his secret wouldn't stay secret for much longer. He wondered how he even made it to the group that had gathered here without making a complete fool of himself. Lifting his head to scan the group, he found nearly everyone was a blur of color and shapes - only those most familiar to him could he easily make out.
Zeroing in on Aryn he closed the distance between them. Whatever was happening he had no idea, and he was having trouble picking up context clues. There was a fight. He smelled Havoc and Medusa here too, though the rest seemed to be strangers. "Aryn," he greeted from behind gritted teeth as he came up alongside her. There was warmth in his voice, though it was laced with something harder too. "You're not supposed to be here." No longer did his voice possess the softness of youth; it was harder and colder now, his tones deep as he moved to press his nose into her shoulder. Why she was here mattered to him less than making sure she got back home before Recluse realized she was gone, though he had a feeling there was more to the story than her simply fleeing.

Veigar is completely blind; his eyes are a hazy shade of pale yellow, though he tries his best to hide this fact.
His saliva also glows a faint shade of neon green since the Ooze event.

She heard whispers across the lands of Abaven finally falling. She heard all sorts of things from her family about it, though it was a mix and mash of things. Her family wasn't on the friendliest terms with those goodie two shoes, so she supposed one way or another, Abaven was destined to fall. Though of course, she had never met a wolf from Abaven, she judged based on what she knew and observed for herself, but with Abaven, all she knew was what her family told her about them. She had gone off on her own now that she was a yearling, and after staying by the river for so long, she was finally ready to strike out on her own and see what the rest of the world had to offer. Which meant her first destination was going to check out the lands that Abaven now left unoccupied. But as she arrived, there was a whole group of other wolves and none that she recognized save for a couple of them. There was a group sitting behind a rather plain-colored wolf, and another group sitting behind another plain-looking wolf, but she at least looked better put together than the other guy. She didn't know either of them though so she simply sat on the sidelines and watched. She grinned as her relative, Sparrow, went about her usual manner with a cart and Brida was almost keen on going to get something from her but then a completely different fight broke out and that had caught her attention! |

She had dwelled around Abaven's former lands for a bit until someone or some folks came knocking. Edelweiss crept among the other wolves, hoping to find Voodoo safe and well as a former member. Instead, she did not find anyone she knew - except for him. "Ghoul." She breathed as she slid beside her friend. The girl's head cocked to the side as she regarded the wolves in battle, then the other ones in battle... Her head swam with questions, mostly unused to the thick of fighting like this. Subconsciously, she pressed against Ghoul as if he would protect her. As a vagabond, she was available to be claimed at any given moment. No pack would come to her rescue. But maybe he would. Maybe, just maybe, he cared about her more than a friend. The thought was... fleeting, reduced back to neutrality. It was clear Edelweiss was a bit spooked, and she would focus on her wellbeing. |

Kotori had waited patiently to see if there was another wolf out there with similar plans to make this place their new home. The earthen-toned male didn’t know what had happened to Abaven but this land would be excellent to grow his pack and raise up a family. Kotori had left the family pack to accomplish his dream and he would let nothing stop that.
A black and white stranger approached so Kotori stood but remained still until she challenged his right to the land. Maybe later he’d ask how this stranger knew his name or why they thought he was building a pack for war. Talking was a thing best done once a match was won though. He would not waste his breath in words and give the female an opening to attack. The crowd showing up was a surprise, but it was also ignored for the most part. So long as none tried to intrude in the fight, they were another matter only to worry about once the fight was done.
Farther behind Kotori a snow leopard had been resting in the grass, its belly up appearing to feel completely safe. The cat, named Splash, stood up as the stranger spoke her piece. It moved closer to Kotori but showed no current sign of aggression toward the stranger. A pale blue glow might be seen under a tree if someone wanted to pay close attention, but the little mongoose was small and would hardly appear a threat.
In preparation for his attack, Kotori folded his ears back against his head and tucked his tail out of the way beneath him to keep them from being available targets. His eyes narrowed to slits as his head lowered to have his neck fall even with his spine as his hackles raised and his shoulders rolled forward to bunch up his scruff around his neck. His lips pulled back in a snarl, exposing his teeth and scrunching up his muzzle.
Kotori rushed to move toward Corbie. His head was tilted down as if he intended to use his horns in a frontal assault on Corbie’s chest. Kotori’s true aim was not for the chest, however. Kotori lined up with the intent to slam his left shoulder into the front of Corbie’s right shoulder. Kotori then snaked his neck out to aim a bite for the right leg just below the knee joint.

A PILLAR FOR ALL
Eraithus couldn't help himself from approaching a chaotic situation. When he heard the call from an Armada wolf he had been satisfied, happy even. Yet a stranger had come into the mix and it seemed a bunch of others had gone in. He watched as a large red male seemed to provoke a young Armada wolf, only to tick Sirius off. The blue man didn't expect to get into a tussle honestly though his mouth was beginning to water with the scent of blood around. Not to mention the excitement of both sides cheering on their chosen winners. So who would win and his bets were on the fatalis. After all their bonds were great and what was another empire branching off? It made him think of how proud he was of Habari.
There were Habari wolves here too, the blue man silently watched from the edge his tail twitching. Though his eyes narrowed watching Medusa. She always seemed to be causing trouble. His attention went back to the two wolves who were potential alpha to be's. Part of him wished that a misfire would hit him in the tussle. He was feeling rather.... thirsty.
Eraithus has a permanant bend in his tail, giving it a crooked appearance. Some of his art does not depict this.
he has a female snowy owl by the name kespie, it is assumed shes around regardless of mention.

Before she'd left on her search for her aunt, that haunting call came from the border. She knew it might eventually - from some fortune-seeker or greedy passerby. It still made her heart plummet to the very depths of her stomach. Fable careened towards the scene, wanting to scream and shout - or hell, take on the challenge in her aunt's place - but she was no fighter. Never had been. When she skidded to a stop, another female had arrived and was challenging the claim. You will not be building another war pack on the ashes of this school. Her heart found itself at the bottom of her stomach and lurched up into her throat so fast she thought she might actually gag. A war pack? What did the continent need more of those for? It tread upon everything Theory had cultivated, everything she had seemed to stand for... her entire being. There was a gentleness to her aunt that she missed dearly, even now. It was terrible to feel powerless in a situation such as this, especially when wolves began to trickle in and elect to pick sides. The challenge quickly seemed to turn into a spectacle the likes of which she had never seen. Fable gulped down that nauseous feeling that crept back up and picked a place on the outskirts, aligned with neither side of particular. Once the fight started, she could barely stand to watch.

Though her opponent was much larger than she was, Corbie didn't fear to face him. Bears were larger still than he was, weren't they? Even as the crowd gathered, the crowd she ignored whether they were in support or opposition, she simply readied herself calmly. Ayer climbed down from her habitual post on Corbie's and moved a few feet off to the right to not get in the way. Still, things didn't feel quite complete until Tam came up to her left side, still panting from the effort to get through the growing crowd to her. None of the three of them were fighters in the purest sense of the word. She took no enjoyment from fighting other wolves and had not made it a point to do so, but the three of them had fought off marauders looking for sheep dinner many, many times together. Wolves looking to claim packs were, essentially, no different than the thieves she'd chased off before. The actions were the same, though the intent was different. She'd expected to feel something, some righteous indignation or anger or exhilaration. Instead she just felt the same matter of fact, roll-up-your-sleeves neutral sort of feeling of preparing to do a dirty, but necessary job. She didn't want a world where the bullying, war-like wolves edged all the kinder, gentler packs out of existence - therefore she would simply have to step up and do what needed to be done.
----------- (OOC note: skip to here if you just want the fight) -----------
Corbie shifted her weight to center it evenly to all four paws, her stance widening to be just over hip and shoulder width apart, and she half-crouched to lower her center of gravity. This would make her harder to push around, even for a larger wolf though she would prefer not to test it if she could dodge. She kept her joints loose to ensure smooth and fast movement rather than tensed. Her head lowered to be even with her spine for balance, her tail raising to the same level ready to balance her in quick turns. Her muzzle lowered a bit to protect her throat from easy access, her ears pinned back against her head and her watchful eyes narrowed to likewise minimize them as a target. Her toes she spread wide for better grip to move quickly. Her hackles rose in an instinctive gesture to give the illusion that she was larger than she was and confuse her outline.
Just in time, because Kotori charged her. Thinking he was trying to gore her, she pivoted her hindquarters to her right in an attempt to avoid his horns. This brought her around ninety degrees to point towards what HAD been her left, and luckily avoided his shoulder strike almost entirely. His shoulder barely brushed It did not get her completely out of the way of his bite towards her right foreleg (OOC: confirmed with Shard) but she had moved far enough that it only sliced across the front point of her shoulder, leaving a minor laceration there.
She took advantage of Kotori having his head so low to aim her fangs towards his face - attempting to slash diagonally across his brow and muzzle, rising from left to right, in the hopes that the profuse blood flow typical of facial wounds would blind him temporarily. At the same time that she did, Ayer the kinkajou shrieked and leaped forward, seeking to viciously claw at the bottom of Kotori's tender left flank with her sharp claws.

I'm Trying to Find A Signal Fire
Pyralis yelped loudly as Gossamer's saber fangs cut deep into her shoulder, tearing through flesh right down to the bone of her shoulder blade. She'd expected the girl to go for her throat or her eyes, some brutally obvious target but apparently the girl was learning. With such a serious wound Pyralis knew she was done. "Fucking turkeys on a buffalo's backside! Ow! You winyouwinyouwin. Let go!" Pyralis flailed til the girl finally released her. She stumbled back, unable to bear weight on the injured limb. With Alkali's help she shrugged the pack off and tossed it to Gossamer. "I hope you know this isn't over." She winked at the girl then limped back over toward Sparrow. "I'm losing my touch. Anything strong? For the pain of course."
Please note that Pyralis is a ghost. It is up to you to decide what level your chars can see/hear her. She was killed by having her throat ripped apart. At times the wound may be visible and be actively bleeding.
Hear ye! Hear ye! Beware her Ladyship, her Excellence (etc. ad infinitum), Captain Pyralis Abraxas. Thread with at yer own risk! Gossamer zeroed in on the opening Pyralis had left, her shoulder beared like an offering and Gossamer was swift to take it. Her fangs sank deep, the slick squish of flesh and taste of blood filled her senses before her teeth struck bone and Pyralis started hollering. It was music to Gossamer's words. She'd won.
Gossy held on for a fraction more before releasing the squirming old woman and licking the blood from her teeth. Eventually her pack was tossed to her and she caught it deftly between the very fangs that had sliced Pyralis open. She set it aside, shooting a Pyralis a smirk as the older woman stated it wasn't over. "Really? Looks to me like it is. Go slink back to your slimy burrow like the worm you are." With her pack secured she trotted back over to her parents, so flushed with her victory that she didn't even feel the pain.
She shot Sirius a grin. "Told you I could take her!" She settled down with her pack, swiftly thumbing through it to see what the pirate had stolen from her. There were some items left but snow, the alocohols and tinctures, were noticeably. "Ah!" Gossamer flung a snake out of her pack then turned to glare at a laughing Pyralis. Her ears pinned back. "I fucking hate pirates." Well, at least now that that ugly business was out of the way she could focus more on the fight between Kotori and the stranger. Thankfully it looked like she hadn't missed too much yet.
