look a kitty cat - lion

Hanging out by the water was really great for finding predators to fight. This time it was a young male lion that had foolishly come to the water that Kotori claimed as his resting spot for the day. Kotori and the lion faced off and both charged at the same time. The lion was faster and with more attitude than the bear’s he faced recently.
Kotori swerved around the lion, attempting to bite the lion’s back leg but it swung around faster than Kotori imagined it could. They were face to face and the lion moved in to try and bite Kotori’s neck, a killing blow. Kotori shifted his weight, stepped sideways just enough for the lion’s blow to miss, returned it with a bite to the side of the lion’s face, then ran a wide circuit around it again.
Bear’s he fought ruthlessly and up close most of the time but this lion was faster than a bear so Kotori imagined it had to be given a bit more respect.

The hot springs are the only place that truly remind Keahi of her home. The humidity and heat lull her into a sense of comfort and she finds herself returning to this place again and again. Sound, from close by, pulls the red woman from her musings and has her standing to trot out toward it. As she nears, the musk of a lion catches her nostrils and the tropical woman speeds up as she finds Kotori’s scent mixed in. So, he has decided to take on a lion?
Red form blurs through the landscape, appearing behind the feline. Without a sound, Keahi races up, teeth snapping closed around the sensitive area where its tail meets the body. A yowl fills the air as the lion turns to swipe at the wolf that is no longer there. A smile is on her lips as the tropical wolf readies for another attack.

Fighting the lion was more difficult than a bear but apparently, that wouldn’t be a problem for long. Keahi came up behind the lion, biting its tail and causing the lion to spin quickly to retaliate. Now its side was facing Kotori though that might not last long.
Kotori stepped back in, head down so that he could slash deeply into the lion’s front shoulder, leaving long gashes as Kotori jogged a step backward. There was certainly no need to guess the lion would attempt to retaliate at possible so better that Kotori remains a moving target. The lion was facing two wolves now and it was dumb enough to think it still had a chance.

Keahi pulls the lion’s attention to her, biting the tail which gets it to swing its body to try and swipe at her. As it moves, Kotori steps in, slashing his horns deep into the cat’s front shoulder. Another yowl as it turns its attention back to Ko and the red woman rushes back in, delivering a deep bite to the feline’s hind leg. With the wolves harassing it from both the front and back end, the cat begins to get annoyed and huff at them.
The bite that the red wolf delivers does not have its attention leaving Kotori so, the tropical woman decides to make it face her. Once more entering the fray, Keahi moves to the hind leg she had previously attacked and attacks the joint. With a growl, she shreds the tendons and ligaments there, giving the lion a permanent limp. Not that it matters, this lion isn’t leaving here alive. It roars in rage, trying to turn and swing at her but the red woman is already gone, racing away to prepare her next attack.

With the tendons torn Keahi had certainly taken away any last hope, the lion had of a long life. As the lion turned to face Keahi the horned wolf took the easy advantage. Kotori’s teeth sunk into the lion's other back leg, chomping on it like some chew toy. Kotori gambled an extra bite as he saw the lion’s shoulder muscles tightening to turn.
It was spinning to face him and Kotori showed the lion its fangs, which were far smaller than the ones he saw the lion mirror back. It didn’t matter. The lion’s back legs were both too damaged and the lion doomed itself trying to make a tight turn with weight on those legs. His back end couldn’t support him and instead of attacking Kotori, he fell to the ground.
The cat was scrambling to sit up but it could no longer stand.

There is always something about killing a majestic lion that tugs at the red woman’s heart. Perhaps it is seeing the slow decline until the once mighty creature lays dead in pool of its own blood. Or, maybe, it’s because she sees the fear that slowly creeps into the feline’s eyes as it realizes it’s fatal error. Whatever the reason, Keahi knows that they had given the lion ample chances to flee but the proud creature was too stubborn to heed them.
Dodging backward to avoid the swinging paw, Keahi races out of harm’s way before it has time to realize its mistake. With its back to Kotori, the earthen male is free to hobble the other back leg, which he does in short order. Ocean blue eyes catch the hint of fear in the cat’s eyes as it turns sharply to strike out at Ko but instead collapses.
Keahi has seen enough and rushes forward into the struggling beast’s space to latch onto the throat. She picks the spot where the neck joins the jaw since its mane seems thinnest there and immediately shreds open vital things. Stepping back, she stands there, keeping a silent vigil over the dying beast, offering up thanks and prays in her head with words in her native tongue.
Once it slumps over, the spark of life flickering out in its eyes, the red wolf composes herself before turning to Kotori and offering a smirk. He does not need to see the pain this predator’s death has caused her.
