Find a new fishing hole

This would be his land soon, at least that’s what Kotori was planning at this point. That meant predators needed to get chased off. There were a perfectly good number of predators that seemed to hunt here and it made sense. Fresh water and plenty of food, including fish. He’d already killed more than one bear with Tove’s help. What was it about predators as big as bears having so much interest in fish? Then again, they were overly bulky and slow for chasing down things like deer and rabbits Kotori imagined.
Regardless, as Kotori came up towards the water he couldn’t say he was surprised to find a grizzly looking into the frothy surface and swatting at the current. Kotori couldn’t didn’t have a good angle to see if it had caught anything by any other fact that the bear hadn’t dropped anything on the shore nor put it in his mouth. Pardon, her mouth. Kotori spotted the mother bear’s cub playing a short way off near another section of the water.
Kotori started to step toward mom when her head turned as she heard the wolf. There was no hesitation, the bear roared and rushed towards Kotori. Mom’s got awfully protective of their kids. The wolf lowered his head even with his shoulders, snarling. He waited until the bear was close enough that it was lunging up high only to try and crash its paws to the side of Kotori’s head. As much fun as it could be jabbing bears with his horns it was best not to do it when the bear's paw is swinging at one's head.
Kotori pivoted and leaped away but only before spinning about to rush in for an attack at a front arm.
