Lucy had gone to visit Eden and yet, in the last moment before the other healer arrived, the yearling made a decision to not jump the gun about giving up on leaving the range just yet. She didn’t even know who had claimed it but… maybe they weren’t so bad? She didn’t tell Bae-Syl about her plan, knowing how he felt about the idea of joining a pack, but she wasn’t necessarily trying to join whoever had claimed the range. She did, however, intend to speak with them. There was always the risk that the alpha wasn’t going to be a reasonable creature but Lucette was counting on her speed to aid her if something went down. She wasn’t looking for a fight, nor any sort of trouble. Ink trailed a bit behind Lucette as she made her way back to the territory they had been calling home for some time. They had been wanderers before the range… but they had settled there. It was starting to feel like home, finally, and now… no, Lucette thought to herself. This sort of thing happened from time to time. Packs could spring up or disband any time, and lands got claimed. It was a fact of life. Besides! Maybe the alpha was nice? It’d be pretty cool if they would at least allow her to gather some of the herbs she had stored in the range, rather than denying her access to the stores she had been working on. Once they arrived at the borders Lucette drew in a breath and tilted her head back. Soprano cords rose over the fields, and she mentally kicked herself. So much for Bae-Syl not knowing… he was probably close enough that he’d hear her calling for the alpha. Oh well! If he was upset later then she’d just have to make it up to him somehow. She didn’t want to act like she didn’t care about his feelings, because she did, but she also knew well enough he’d likely be very against her doing this at all. Hell, if he knew half the things she got into… She glanced down at her bandaged paw. He’d probably have a heart attack. "Talk, 'Think.' |
Mental health (particularly depression and anxiety) is extremely bad. Currently unable to handle IC conflict or conflict between characters, pack related or individual. I am struggling to post even simple things and will not be able to continue with thread if approached. Sorry for the inconvenience but I just can't right now.
Lucette has two companions - a kodkod and a saw-scaled viper. Unless otherwise mentioned IC, assume that they are close by.
Bae-Syl, as Lucette's bestie, guardian, and mate is welcome to invade her threads at any time regardless of how they are marked.

Corbie glanced up from the chaos in the sheep pen, where she and Tam were working on sorting through the sheep after their long journey here and sorting them into slightly smaller breeding groups. This area had been used for pasturage several times before, from the time when Tornach had kept elk here to more recently when the now-defunct Fireside had kept sheep, and it was ideally suited for it. The pack, Avalon she had decided to call it, from vague memories of stories her mother had told her as a pup long ago, was far too small to do much of what she hoped to do, but she could at least split the herd into three to allow for separate lines. They could manage that much with the few they had here, at least. But right now she heard someone calling at the new borders for the alpha, which meant her apparently, though she was still getting used to it.
She glanced over to Tam, who waved her off without concern. They'd gotten them mostly separate at this point anyway so he could handle what was left. As Corbie agilely vaulted the fence to go to the border, a slightly shaggy boulder rose to accompany her. Ren, a dog who had chosen to join her after a recent trading expedition from her clan to drop off a new ram to them had been a big interrupted by her and Tam moving the sheep to a new location, heaved her burly frame up to follow her. She'd been a flock guardian for her clan and still acted as one here, but she seemed to consider Corbie her primary charge rather than the sheep themselves. Corbie tolerated it because the company was good, but who was going to try to attack her? She sighed, but nodded to Ren as the gray dog fell into step beside her.
The wolf waiting at the border was young, with a bandaged paw that spoke of some kind of injury or other, though Corbie was no trained healer to recognize what it had been based off a bandage. "Hello," she greeted with simple friendliness when she had come upon the girl. "I'm Corbie, alpha of this pack. What can I do for you?"

A woman came, a bit older than she was, and by how she carried herself the girl could only assume that this was the alpha as she approached. Moments later her words confirmed it; she was, and her name was Corbie. At her side was a dog, which automatically caused Ink to bristle nervously, and the kodkod pressed closer to Lucette. Hopefully, the dog wasn’t eager to chase… she knew well enough the differences between their species typically. Though Lucy and Bae-Syl had been more of an exception. The she-wolf drew in her breath and dipped her head respectfully to the woman. “Hello there, Corbie, it is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Lucette Kedieo.” The young one lifted her head. It was probably the most polite and respectful she’d been to anyone older than her thus far. Not that she was a mean individual… but she wasn’t typically overly respectful. She tilted her head to the side, ready to present her case, though she had no idea how it’d go. At least Corbie seemed nice enough at a glance. “I used to live here.” Lucette began. “My bestie and I both did. We were out and about for a while, and when we came back we noticed the new scent borders… uh… congratulations though! I don’t know what you had to go through to be able to claim the lands, but I’m sure it wasn’t easy…” She frowned thoughtfully. “A-Anyway… as for why I’m here uh…” Lucy lifted her gaze to Corbie’s own. “We’re not really sure where we’ll be going after this… and my bestie is a bit… uneasy with the idea of officially joining a pack right now. I had a store of herbs here, a small one, but even a small store are herbs I wouldn’t need to recollect if I could have your permission to do so. It’d be greatly appreciated.” The last thing she wanted was for them to get into a spot and not have herbs to treat basic wounds. Hell, even visiting Eden she’d gotten injured. There was no telling what traversing farther might bring about. "Talk, 'Think.' |

Corbie's expectantly curious expression softened into compassion as the younger wolf spoke. "It was never my intention to force anyone from their home or to keep them away from their possessions. Avalon is not a warlike pack, to let none within the borders who aren't members or allied. I apologize for the anxiety that the scent markers caused you and your friend - we have only just begun to set up here, and I hadn't had the time yet to spread word of our intentions." She felt a pang of guilt, but logically no matter where they'd settled some loner or several would be displaced, and if she hadn't chosen to make her pack Kotori Fatalis would have, and undoubtedly would be considerably less polite about kicking them out of their homes, and she really hadn't yet had time to seek out anyone potentially displaced, so the guilt was irrational, but there it was. She sighed, then smiled to the girl to try to communicate that the sigh wasn't directed her way. "You and your friend are welcome to continue to occupy your den within the pack bounds for as long as you need to find someplace your friend is more comfortable with, if that would be acceptable to you both. You are, of course, welcome to collect your possessions regardless." Anything less than giving them access to their belongings would, as far as Corbie was concerned, be outright theft.

Corbie’s expression softened after she had spoken and the alpha spoke. It hadn’t been her intention to force anyone from their home, though it might have been unavoidable with the claiming of a pack. The yearling shook her head as the woman apologized. “It’s quite alright. When you’re first getting started I’d imagine there is a lot to do. You have to make sure those with ill intentions aren’t going to waltz into your lands. I can understand why you had to go that route, displaced or not.” Corbie seemed to have a lot on her mind, especially since she sighed, but it didn’t seem to be directed at Lucette herself. The woman did extend an offer for the two yearlings to continue to occupy their den within the lands. At this Lucette breathed a sigh of relief, the stress that had settled over her prior washing away. They would have safety until they found somewhere they could be more comfortable outside the lands and she’d be able to access her stores. Lucy dipped her head gratefully. “Thank you, Corbie. Bae is… hesitant about the idea of packs… but I’d rather us be able to plan appropriately instead of just running off willy-nilly to find a new place to call home. Especially while my paw heals.” She had of course just injured it on her way to see Eden… so it was going to take a couple of days to close up properly and not hurt to step on. “I’d be happy to help gather some herbs for Avalon as well, as thanks for allowing us shelter here. I know you’re letting us in regardless, but I feel it is the least I can do to repay your kindness. Besides, your pack is new. You could likely use the extra set of paws gathering some resources.” "Talk, 'Think.' |
