The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 3

Laeta was happy about setting off on adventures again. She was so eager to explore the new lands surrounding the Hallows territory, and with her recovery basically at its end, she figured she’d use the opportunity to travel to further strengthn her limbs. And who better to go exploring with than her good friend, Sota? The smaller Songa had always been king and supportive of her, throughout her illness and throughout her recovery, too. He never hesitated to give her a lending paw for extra balance, or help her press wildflowers for decoration and the like. He was, simply put, a wonderful friend and one she was grateful to have. As many of the Hallows wolves were so supportive of her, too.

The shore and its glistening, glittering sands caught the woman’s attention, even from afar. She and Sota had left the castle grounds that morning, with Mel staying behind to tend to chores. The badger wasn’t even able to catch up to Laeta much anymore, and it was increasingly less common to see him pressed to her side like a crutch. She was lithe, quick on her feet - with the occasional crack and snap popping from her wrists and ankles as she moved. But no matter, because as they approached the sprawling beach and heard the lap of gentle waves against the shore, the sun reaching its late afternoon haze, the Scholar squinted her ruby eyes against the sharp golden glow. "My, Sota, have you ever seen sand this shimmery before?" She turned to her friend with an excited smile. Perhaps this was why the beach was so aptly named, but repeating her observations would help her ingrain this beautiful place in her memories. "Shall we explore a bit?" She added, waiting for Sota to walk with her as they began to look about their surroundings.

Sota tried not to dwell too much on the past, but it was hard to not marvel at just how far Laeta had come. Once it'd seemed certain she'd never walk again - and now look at her! He watched happily as she bounded ahead of him, giving a soft delighted laugh at how easily she moved. It truly was a miracle that she'd recovered at all, let alone so well. It wouldn't be surprising if she needed a little support getting back home after their time away from home, but to see her moving so freely now was truly a sight to behold.

He was overjoyed that she'd thought to invite him along for a little trip outside the castle walls and he fully intended to make the most of their day. Lately the lands were plagued with rain and today they were lucky enough to catch a break. The skies were clear with only the occasional cloud passing through, and the sea air was crisp and refreshing. The sun had begun its slow descent toward the horizon as the afternoon set in, its rays cascading across the water, nearly blinding if you focused on it for long. What was truly incredible about this place though was the sand, which Laeta didn't hesitate to point out.

"I can't say I have," he answered her, picking up his pace to bound up alongside her. "It's beautiful here. I wonder how it'd look under the moonlight," he mused thoughtfully. He didn't know how long she planned to stay here but if their trip was cut short he'd made a mental note to return and see what this place looked like at night, eventually. "Yes, let's!" Exploring the lands around his home a bit further had been proving quite enjoyable for him lately and he was eager to see what else might be in store for them here.

Laeta could never be unhappy with Sota around. He was a wonderful, supportive friend - through and through. Even when her ailments tested even the strongest of bonds between her packmates, Sota remained to make sure she was okay. She never forgot his kindness and generosity, and it was plain to see why he was such a well-liked fellow on the pack. The woman felt the Songa bound up next to her, her tail wagging softly as her own limbs carried her with relative ease to the shimmery shores themselves. She slowed her pace so as not to slip, gently skimming down the slopes of dunes leading down to the majority of the beach. She had to squint her ruby gaze as the golden rays of sun captured the sharp glimmer of the grains, creating a blinding but beautiful glow. It was quite hard to ignore, and it was striking. Even if she couldn't see through it all too well. Sota mentioned he was curious about how the sands would glimmer beneath the moonlight, and Laeta nodded in agreement, briefly looking away from the sands to glance to him with a smile upon her lips. "The sun is setting, so if we stick around, we just might get to see the moon shine over the beach as well," She said, her enthusiasm for exploring clear in her tone. With that, she approached the shoreline, letting her alabaster toes sink into the sand and the cold saltwater lap at her legs. It was quite refreshing ,seeing as Auster remained perpetually warm.

He marveled at the feeling of the feeling of the silty sand beneath his paws, warm and inviting against the pads of his paws. Though once he hadn't been able to imagine living anywhere but among the tall trees of his youth, he'd since broadened his horizons considerably. He could easily imagine spending the rest of his days lounging on this beach and enjoying the sun's reflected warmth. Not that he saw a life in which he left The Hallows - he'd never felt quite at home anywhere like he did with the pack he'd been with for years now. Considering leaving had never once crossed his mind, not from the moment he'd been allowed refuge there to recover from an injury.

The almost otherworldly glow of the sunlight gleaming off the sand wasn't something he could ignore either. He'd never seen a sight quite like it. "That sounds like a plan to me," he agreed happily, his own tail giving a wave that confirmed his good mood. Even if they stayed quite late the journey home wasn't a terribly long one - he was thankful for that, since nothing ever sounded quite as good as curling up in his familiar room in the castle at the end of the day. Sota trailed after his taller friend and let the water touch his toes too, only recoiling slightly before giving it another go and wading in a few steps deeper. He swore he saw the water itself glimmer as his paws disturbed it, but he wasn't so sure. Maybe it was a trick of the eye? His head tilted as he looked down and made a sweeping gesture through the chilly water, trying to replicate it.
