Venom gathered up one of her nieces, little Saia who was the most often reclused within the palace walls. She took after her mother too much for Venom’s liking, so with her sunset gaze upon her the Matriarch singled her out for a patrol that day. There was a little feeling within that told her there would be some excitement that evening, so she was eager to take on the challenges ahead of them with her young niece.

There was no animosity from Venom towards Saia or Rava, but the woman wished her to be more like her father. There wasn’t much doubt of her Klein heritage, not that Venom would voice such thoughts. She belonged to both fathers and mother, but to truly embrace her heritage she needed more experience, and to get out of the palace.

Venom’s white gloved paws carried her to the beaches of Ibon, they were on the western side, nearly the most wild of the Ashen Islands. This would be where they would find anything amiss. Her eyes scanned the horizon and she found movement not far off the beach. An orca. Usually they traveled in pods, but this one was alone. Usually they were allies, the orcas feasted on the seals that ate Ashen’s fish. However, this one was acting much differently. There were no seals here, and she could just made out the shadows of fish the great beast was chasing.

"Hmm, that isn’t good.” Venom sighed, wondering how one would remove an orca from her ocean. "Do you see what I see, Saia?” She asked as she glanced down at the girl.

Saia wasn't really intentionally keeping herself inside the palace and away from outside duties. It was just a life she had grown used to. She knew that soon that life would change, and she really had no problems with it. She knew and felt her heritage inside of her, the Klein blood. She knew she was stronger than how she lived everyday. She was prompt on training, or at least when her fathers put things together for her. She wasn't too comfortable with strangers but inside the pack she would make do.

She joined her Aunt Venom more than willingly but maybe not as excited as one of her siblings may have been like Seere. That didn't mean she wasn't happy to be out here with her Aunt, she was just much more reserved. Paw steps followed beside Venom learning the patrol that she may one day soon be doing on her own. Easy enough, and she was brave enough to do what needed to be done. For her family and her pack.

Saia stopped as Venom did and looked out into the island waters. She didn't see immediately, but a longer inspection she could see the shadow and dark colors of the orca feasting on the fish in their waters. She wasn't exactly sure what it was, though she had recalled seeing the larger shadows further out in the ocean before. She'd never seen one so close before. "What should we do?" Saia looked up at her Aunt and Empress in true question, because she had never handled a creature like this in the water. She'd take direction, she just needed to know how Venom would plan to conquer or drive away a large creature who lived every day in the ocean.

Saia followed her easily which was certainly a point towards her. Venom didn’t have any real doubts in any of her brother’s children; she knew that all of them would come into their strength and resolve. Saia was no exception, and her willingness to offer her help and presence soothed any fears that might arise of taking too much after her mother. The girl did as she was bid, and as the terror of the ocean became visible Venom easily directed her attention towards the whale near their beaches.

Saia questioned her aunt aptly. What should they do in a situation such as this? They couldn’t allow the orca to continue eating their fish. "We’ll do what we can.” Venom said, but it was code for she didn’t know yet. "I don’t believe that our teeth or claws will do much, neither will our strength compared to a beast as that. Perhaps being a pest will be our best option. My first thought is to collect poles and ‘poke’ at it from a safe distance.”

Saia looked briefly at her aunt as she suggested getting long sticks to push the Orca away from their waters. She could see how that wasn't a bad plan at all. But she didn't think that just poles would do the job. With such a big creature and accustomed to the waters, it would be easy for it to push through and take one of them as a snack instead. They needed a little more leverage. Saia made her way into the surrounding forests of the islands, Venom may have been quick after her too. Her first find was a couple of pointed rocks, not necessarily sharp like she could craft back at home but enough to get a little extra prick and pressure into the whale. Then she went out in search of long thicker sticks they could use in an attempt to make spears. They had to be quick though in this moment, so she reacted just as that making a couple quick divots in the rods before tying the rocks on with twisting vines. Venom could help or simply watch, it may have been a bit of a learning experience. Or at least quick decision making. She gave one of the makeshift spears to her aunt before they would head back out onto the beach. Next they would just have to get into the water and hopefully direct the orca away from their waters. It wouldn't be an easy feat, but something she could silently brag about afterwards.

Venom’s plan was thin, it was the best that she could come up with as she had never fought against a beast as big as a whale. Besides not being in their own element, this was an incredibly dangerous task that they were undertaking. Saia was eager to help, and as they gathered their poles the girl began to wrap sharp rocks at the end. Venom lifted a pale brow curiously, but she couldn’t deny the brilliance of her idea. Just sticks wouldn’t really do much more than be a mild annoyance, if the rocks could pierce or at least scratch the skin maybe it would be dissuaded from lingering in Ashen’s water.

Saia was swift in her crafting as she gave one of her spears to Venom. The Empress nodded approvingly and led them back to the beach. This was the moment of truth. Venom splashed into the water, hoping that perhaps the commotion would be enough to drive it off, but that was a far fetch. Venom began swimming out as the water became too deep for her paws to touch the sandy bottom.

Venom began swimming towards the orca, all the while swinging her spear in hopes simple intimidation would drive it away. They were supposed to be intelligent, maybe not to the level of a wolf, but smart enough to know when they weren’t wanted.

Saia was quick alongside her aunt, following bravely after her into the waters to fend off this giant water creature. She observed everything her aunt did intently, learning as they went not even knowing that Venom may not have been tuned into how their plan would work. At least there was a plan, and with her aunt not festering much in hesitation, Saia would easily follow in the fight beside her.

They moved closer to the orca, it feeding off the school of panicked airborne fish. She could admit easily that swimming out to it was hard to keep it's location just as it was hard to hold her spear in her mouth. She grew used to the feeling of salt water pooling in and out of her mouth and how to obstruct it. Losing her breath out here was no where near an option.

Seeing the hazy shadow so close to her in the water was extremely intimidating, but she didn't waiver her strong mind and heart. Moving her neck to get the edge on the ocean monster she poked at it with the spear and immediately saw the reaction as the orca moved friskily in the water. It seemed like it was ready to come back around and fight, but Venom was quick to give it that second jab. But after a moment, Saia saw the haze of the giant creature appear back in front of her, coming directly towards them. She moved as quickly as she could, putting the spear directly into the side of it's head as they almost collided, and that seemed to give it the idea. Wounded, the beast would turn off into the southern waters but Saia didn't believe this would be their last encounter.
