Come here, Bambi
Kichi

While she certainly wasn't the avid hunter like her brother and parents were, she still acknowledged why being a decent hunter was an important skill to maintain. Even if she didn't hunt all that often or that well, she still wanted to be able to help support the pack and her family in every possible way. Today she found herself with Kichi as a hunting companion in her efforts to branch out more and spend more time with the members of their pack. He was one of the members that she had seen around since she was very young since he was close with her father, but they hadn't spent much time individually. Now was as good a time as any to fix that!
As they went across the bridge that connected the island to the mainland, Avacyn walked beside Kichi and together they made their way out to the Rock Garden. Apparently there had been some movement of whitetail deer through the area and that seemed like an animal that the two of them could take down pretty easily. "Any particular strategy you'd like to use?" she questioned, glancing at the gray and white male beside her. She let him take the lead on this since he was more well versed than she was, but she was willing to do whatever task he felt like she'd be a good fit for.

Kichi didn’t bother trying to socialize with most of the wolves but he didn’t ignore them either. If someone wanted to speak with him or needed help he would give aid but too much loss and betrayal in his past had created a barrier inside him that he dare not let pass. There was an exception to that and it would be Alastor and in turn Alastor's family. The only other exception was Relm. Both were links to the past that had not hurt him, the only ties to childhood that weren’t all bad.
It was good to have time with Alastors daughter and Kichi imagined he should have tried to spend time with her before but now the time seemed to be here. Different wolves had their own means of strategy but when it came to hunting for pleasure Kichi enjoyed the one that included teamwork with someone he trusted.
“Let’s run it down together. I can take the left, you take the right. Go for the legs first, when its head lowers one of us will grab the neck to pull it the rest of the way.” Kichi shrugged adding, “the other helps to get it off balance if it's too stubborn to fall.” Killing was a good way for the two to get to know each other after all.
The deer was soon enough visible, a young stag that seemed confident in itself. Farther away the scent of more deer, likely does could be tasted on the wind. Perhaps this male was playing guardian. Who knew? Deer were dumb food animals and that was enough.

Avacyn listened to Kichi's simple plan of running the deer down with him, one keeping to the left and the other too the right, until they had a chance to go for its legs and eventually the throat. It was an easy plan to follow and she nodded with understanding, giving him a slight smile before she refocused her attention on the land ahead of them. It was fairly open grass land with plenty of rocks dotting the landscape to use for cover. The scent of the deer reached her first, but soon enough the buck that seemed to be overseeing the land for the rest of the herd came into view. She slightly nudged Kichi's shoulder to get his attention before shifting their path a bit toward a large bolder that was far enough away from the deer to keep themselves hidden, but close enough that they could begin their ambush from there.
She peeked around the side, mapping out a path for herself. "I'll move closer to the right side," she whispered to Kichi, indicating the rocks she had in mind to hide behind up ahead of them. "You go toward the left and when you're ready start the chase then I'll join in." With the plan finalized, she started sneaking her way around in a wide arc to avoid being noticed, moving quickly and quietly from rock to rock. After a few moments she was close enough to the deer that with a sprint she could probably reach it and from there she waited for the sound of Kichi leaping out at it, her willowy legs coiled under her and ready to go.

Avacyn was agreeable with his plan so that would keep matters simple. They made their way to a tall rock to hide them from and further refine the plan set forth. Kichi knew the heiress was not primarily a hunter or at least he was fairly certain of it. She had duties of whatever sort an heiress had to learn to rule he imagined. Kichi had a faint memory of thinking he was above any other wolf that existed. Well, that had crashed down on him long ago. Alastor and Manea though? They were at the top of things and this younger wolf was the same, one who would someday rule. Of course, the Elysium pack was the strongest in Boreas, Kichi had no doubt there.
He nodded agreeably with Avacyn and made his way towards the left, careful to keep out of sight until it was time. It was possible since it was a stag the animal might choose to fight a lone wolf if it thought that was the case but it also still might flee. The fact it was the potential guardian gave a better chance it would be dumb enough to fight.
Kichi got to his spot, glancing over to make sure that Avacyn was ready to go. She was in position, and the deer had hardly moved. Kichi charged forward, muscles bunching and releasing with each stride as he ran towards their prey, careful to keep himself towards it left, in close enough to keep it from looking to his route for escape. Snapping at a leg, though the first attempt met air. At least it was running instead of fighting. If he wanted a fight Kichi would go for a bear or something tougher, right now he liked the idea of a good chase and kill.

After a few moments of waiting she saw a flash of gray along with the sound of paws pounding against the ground and that was her cue to spring into action. She leapt forward with a snarl, running forward with long, bounding strides. The buck took off away from them and their snapping jaws that were reaching for its legs as it bounced away in the way that deers typically ran. Deer were definitely quick creatures, she'd give them that! She was running hard to keep up with it. It took a few attempts and a bit of running, but eventually she did manage to grapple one of its back legs between her jaws and when she did she reached up with her tiger-like paws, latching the larger, feline appendages onto the deer's thigh as she threw her weight to the side and tried to knock it off balance. Their prey stumbled and skidded on its thin legs, its remaining three legs flailing as it began to topple and practically dragging Avacyn along as it tried desperately to get away and ultimately failed. It never actually collapsed onto its side or completely fell, but she more or less rendered it immobile and put it in perfect position for Kichi to finish the job.

Ava and Kichi kept stride with the deer, not allowing it to veer to the left or right. Kichi managed to get his teeth on the deer’s leg twice but never enough to do more than minor damage that made it shake its head angrily and seem to leap all the higher in the midst of running.
After a time Ava got in a good bite on a back leg and he noticed her one paw that grabbed the deer’s end had the claws of a cat which surely had to be handy in a pinch. The deer was trying hard to remain standing and for its worth, the animal was still standing yet it also was no longer able to get away. Big helpless eyes in a state of panic.
Kichi wouldn’t let the fear last long. With the deer so well immobilized, Kichi moved in, biting into its neck, ripping away flesh and causing blood to soak the fur around the injury, deep red spots falling onto the grass below. Kichi bit in again, blood soaking his muzzle after digging it in farther. The deer could no longer stand and finally collapsed. It wasn’t but another moment that the light left it. The hunt had been a success. “Well done Avacyn. You got a great hold of it.” It felt weird to give a compliment, almost rusty and never really used. He wanted to be friends with Al’s kids though so he was making an attempt at it!
