Basilisk was raring to go. He’d pulled on his armour, and assembled his companions. He’d given each and every one of them a stern talking to. This mattered. He’d done a poor job at the Hallows tourneys, and this was his chance to do better. It was his ambition to win the fight to become the Armada champion and be able to compete with the top champions in Valta. He knew it was ambitious, and the thought of it left butterflies in his stomach. Imagine winning in the Armada, and losing to his first match in Valta. The mere thought left a bitter feeling in his mouth.

After choosing to content, his father had set them off into matches. He was to face his Auntie Aris, and after last minute adjustments to his armour, he stepped forward. Pushing aside his fears for the moment as he looked to the other wolf. He didn’t care if it was polite to give her the first move, he needed to strike hard and fast. His nerves wouldn’t settle for anything less.

Lurching forward suddenly, he moved towards the smaller wolf (irrelevant, since every wolf was shorter than he was) and aimed to slam his right foreleg (since his shoulder was too high to hit anything on her body) into the left side of her forebody. Regardless of if the strike hit or not, he would swing his head around. Bending down in an attempt to grab the scruff of her neck.

"Speech"

She hadn't really paid much attention to her brother's children, especially once he had sent away the one she'd really clicked with which had made it seem pointless to get attached to them,so she found herself pretty shocked when she was actually standing across from one of them and it was a freaking giant. Pretty much all the wolves in their family were huge compared to her so she hadn't given it much thought, but this one was somehow even bigger and hulkier than everyone else. She suddenly found herself much less confident about having out herself forward to participate in this champion thing, and exchanged a look with Tansy that made it clear the cat had no confidence in it either. Losing would look bad enough but giving up before the fight even started was unthinkable so she readied herself anyway.

The younger wolf charged her, and she leaped wildly out of the way, which saved her from both attacks but brought her out of reach herself. This was goin to be an especially grueling fight for her, because she would need to expend twice the energy he did to leap around in and out of reach. She couldn't afford to be hit at all, and this giant baby could just stand there and take whatever she dished
out, probably. Steeling herself for an exhausting battle, she darted back in to attempt to sink her fangs into his left hind leg at the hock, rearing upward to do so and slashing her claws at his thigh at the same time for balance.

The smaller and more agile wolf weaved out of his initial attack. The bulldozing wolf came to a slow stop and turned to find where she had gotten to. At this point, she was already coming around to his back. It was his panda, perched on his back that warned him of the incoming attack. Too late to do much about it, he let her land the hit and then kicked it out as hard as he could. Hoping to either strike her or knock out her balance as he whirled around in an attempt to make another strike.

This time, he would aim to grab at one of her ears with his elongated fangs. He knew he needed to attack fast and nasty to have any hope of actually landing a blow on the agile and smaller wolf.

Her attacks landed as planned but before she could spring away again his oversized leg slammed into her, knocking the breath out o her and sending her sliding back. She had regained her feet but not her resth when his tooth pierced her ear, but she threw herself backwards away from him. The ear tore, but she channeled the pain into a blind rage attack, both foreclaws swatting at his face hard. Tansy bit at the nephew's hind leg as an attempt at a distraction,the cat yowling her fiercest snarl to try to attract his attention from the bleeding and injured Aris.

It was to surely no one's surprise at all that Aris found herself taking a loss against her way, way oversized and odd-looking nephew. That put her out of the runnings for the position of pack champion entirely. Aris tried to console herself by telling herself that she didn't really want to participate in a tournament that was all about her self absorbed littermate Kotori making a pack, anyway, but she couldn't stop herself from brooding about it while she limped out of the sparring ring to go treat her wounds in the solitude of her lab. Maybe while the rest of the pack was finishing their own fights she'd go smuggle in a coyote to experiment on and make herself feel better...
