A Story To Tell

Fia had been a fantastically obedient pup for all of her short life. Living inside the den, being waited on, not having much responsibility. All of it just didn't make her want to change anything about her life. She was happy and content just where she was. And while she didn't really have anything nefarious in her mind, she was starting to change that way just a smidge.
With how often she was in and around the family den, she could see not everything was going well with her parents. She didn't know the details, she hadn't seen any of their fights. But she knew something wasn't quite right or at least the way it seemed from her earliest memories. She didn't let it bother her too much. She didn't really want to ask... or maybe she was just building up to it. She wouldn't admit that it may have been catching up to her, it was much easier to act like everything was just the way it was before.
At least her mother was in the den sleeping tonight, she wasn't sure if her father was in the den too or not. She was in her own section of the den where Avacyn and Saracyn had spent their later days until they moved into their own spaces. It was very late, maybe around midnight to early early morning and she was known for being up at hours like this. She used her feline paws to her advantage as she got up from her bed and made her way out of the den just taking a peek into her parent's part of then den as she walked by. It felt easier to step forward once she was off the face of the mountain path. She didn't really have anything in mind, she was just going to... wander really. Or maybe her mind had other ideas.
She made her way to the beaches where the land bridge was open for her to cross over to the mainlands and with little hesitation she moved forward. She didn't have much of a restricted life by her parents, but she never did anything to make them use reinforcement or anything like that. But she had only been to the mainlands accompanied by one of them, she had never gone alone. Again, she didn't have any plans for once she got to the other side. And once she got there she just started walking along the beaches. A midnight stroll, that was pretty normal right?

It was normal indeed. Ikigai was used to being up during nighttime hours as some members of her family were more nocturnal in nature. Sensitive eyes ran in the family. Sun sensitivity too. Despite her pale coat, Iki hasn't been cursed with sensitivity and she was thankful for that. Other than habit, the woman preferred the hours when the rest of the world slept. There was something... special about it.
Dexterous paws made their way to the mainland, leaving Deimos and the pack behind for a bit. She needed time to breathe. Time to think. So much had happened in such a short time. She was still reeling from the fact that she was a mated woman. It was surreal. She still hasn't processed it all.
Soft pawsteps brought the pallid faes neck curling and her snake slit eyes landed upon a ruby coated youngling. Iki nodded and smiled, dark ears flicking forward curiously.

Fia had been making a turn close to the border, or maybe not so close. She was just taking a guess and didn't want to risk going too far where she would start to lose the border scents. It was when she turned that she noticed the bright woman nearby in the same mindless task they were sharing separately. She didn't jump with fear of reprimanding or anything like that, but the way she kind of looked around may have made it look like she wasn't supposed to be out here. Still she stepped forward more confidently than a pup, whether they be older or not, would had they been in trouble.
She offered the best smile she could to the woman, Fia wasn't great at showing any kind of emotion while she was relatively neutral in general and honestly may have come across as unamused most of the time. But she was trying at least. "I uh, think I've seen you around before." She started out a little abruptly rather than easing into some kind of conversation. She wasn't very fluent in this kind of stuff. "I'm Fiametta." She wasn't really trying to play off the fact that she was out here intentionally against rules. She just wanted some kind of new experience than what she had forced herself to live in before. It wasn't her parents fault, it was what she wanted. And now she wanted to move on from the stuck nature she was beginning to feel herself in.

The red girl drew near and introduced herself, saying that she'd seen Iki around before. The older fae nodded. She knew who Fia was, but they'd never spoken. "Good to officially meet you, Fiametta. I'm Ikigai, but you can call me Iki." One black gloved paw rose, the dexterous digits motioning to the space nearby. "Would you care to sit and talk or did you have other things on your mind to do tonight?" She didn't know what the young girl was out doing all on her own, nor did she know that the child may not have been allowed to do so. Either way, she would offer companionship if that was agreeable to both of them.
Iki looked back out over the rocks, silvered eyes catching moonlight for a moment and suddenly she missed home. She missed her sister and her mom. She missed her uncle. She even missed her idiot brother. The corners of her mouth ticked downward in sadness for but a moment before she regained composure. She was doing this for them. For the betterment of both her people and Elysium's people, which were also now her people as well. She had to keep reminding herself of that. This was now her home and she had to remember it as such.

Fia's dark eyes glanced around for a moment before she stepped forward again and took a seat beside Ikigai on the shores of the mainland. "I don't have any plans." She spoke quietly before fully settling beside the smaller woman.
She did squint at her as she seemed to have this very almost hidden show of emotion but quickly regained herself. Fia didn't say anything, she wasn't one to pester especially if someone didn't seem to want to talk about it. She couldn't say she wasn't curious what had the woman a little worried or sad, but it wasn't really any of her business.
She tilted her head a little before she spoke, "I can tell you aren't from my family. Where do you come from?" She asked, wanting to know a little more about the woman now that she was here. It gave her a little more reason to be out across the land bridge than just a midnight wander alone on the shores.
