Birna finished cleaning out the bisons stomach then set it down into a hole she'd dug in the ground, not too deep, just deep enough to encourage it to hold its shape so that it would serve as a stew pot. She pierce two sides of it and ran a stick through before doing the same on the other side so that she'd have a way to carry it when the soup was done.

She didn't know what to think of this strange invitation to a feast but after running into Jynn as well as managing to take down an older bison she saw no reason not to go. They had plenty of meat to share even after the kill was divided. She figured a bison stew would make for a nice hot meal. She wasn't sure how much food would be provided but it was tradition among her old tribe that everyone bring a food item to share.

Jynn was delighted by the idea of a feast. What a great opportunity to sample a number of foods she hadn't tried before or only got to eat very rarely as a loner. One such beast was of course the bison they'd brought down with a few other wolves. The kill had been split and now she and Birna worked to make use of their portion. Some meat had been preserved and the pelt was in the process of being treated for tanning. She had considered making something with the meat but when she'd found the strange, large, orange… fruits (pumpkins), she couldn't help but want to make something with them.

She'd cracked a few open and began scraping out the seeds for roasting and the guts for slurping. More fond of fruits than the average wolf she was quite enjoying this little escapade. She set the seeds out on rocks around a fire to start roasting them.

Birna raised an eyebrow as she looked at what Jynn was doing with the seeds but she did not move to say anything about it. It seemed like the maned wolf was quite pleased with herself and even if it wasn't something Birna would ever put in her mouth she would not decry against the canines for their more varied palates. She turned back to the stew, filling the stomach with water and then carefully adding in hot stones from the fire to heat the water up.

She then added chunks of bison meat as well as sage and other herbs to give it a bit more flavor. She debated about adding in anything else. Being a pure carnivore she didn't much care for adding in other flavors though she did like the texture of the pumpkins that Jynn had found. What would happen if she threw them in? Hmmm… she set about cutting some of the pumpkins up and placing the flesh in with the meat.

Once Jynn was finished setting up the seeds to roast she turned the duty of watching them over to Tahmores. The little wolf had a mix of dried garlic and other spices which he sprinkled over the seeds while they baked.

While Tahmores attended to the seeds she started carving silly faces into the pumpkins. She wasn't quite sure what possessed her to do it but they were just sitting there all hollowed out and she couldn't pass the opportunity to mess around. Taking a bone knife from her satchel she held it in her jaws and started carving. It took some practiced coordination, holding the pumpkin down with her paws while she worked the knife with her head to pop out a couple of big round eyes and some nose holes. Maybe she should add eyebrows?

Jynn paused in her carving to sniff the air, taking in the scent of the cooking meat. Setting her knife down for a moment she trotted over to Birna and peered into the soup stomach.

Birna monitored the stew, stirring it on occasion and adding more herbs as needed as well as some bone marrow to thicken the broth. It was starting to get a good flavor. Padding over to the fire she carefully collected a few more hot rocks to add to the stomach. As she returned she spied Jynn sticking her head over it. Birna playfully swatted the maned wolf. "Hey, its not ready. Save your appetite for the feast." She rolled the rocks into the stomach then sat back to continue and monitor its progress. Steam rose from it and curled into the fall tinged air. It was a lovely sight indeed. Perhaps at this feast they could inquire about the strange weather and if anyone might know the cause.

"Ow! Hey! I was just looking." Jynn backed away from the soup and sighed. She was hungry now though, thank goodness the feast wouldn't be much farther away. She returned back to her pumpkin, carving out a wide, toothy smile in its flesh and chewing on the pieces she cut out. She rather liked the taste of pumpkin. A yip from Tahmores caught her attention and she saw the seeds were ready. Using a piece of bone they scooped them into a glass jar. Excellent. They could bring snacks as well as a cool looking pumpkin. She rather liked it as decor but she supposed they could technically eat that as well.
