Ajax decided he liked Nico. Didn't know where he'd come from or when he'd even slipped in amongst the many pups of the pirates, but in his mind he was more than welcome to stay! He looked a little different from all the wolves he knew, built differently, a little smaller and more scraggly but recognisable enough to be marked as a friend. After all, if Jack thought he was a cool guy then he had to be! "What do you like to do? He asked, an excitable lilt in his voice as he kneaded at the dark sand.

He had just recently chased a big ol’ peer in a giant tunnel with Ajax so t seemed the guy was ok.  He was also one of Jack’s brothers which was in his favor.  The pup was like Jack, quickly growing larger than the smaller coyote.  It seemed the wolf pup was curious to know Nico more and knowing Jack’s siblings seemed a pretty neat idea, at least any nice ones.

“Lots of stuff,” Nice responded cheerily, “Hunting, fighting, making up songs, and exploring.”  It hurt having lost his family and it was real dangerous being a pup alone but it had made him free to do whatever he wanted.  Two birds and a donkey helped to keep Nico safe but without trying to limit where he went.  Really, it probably also helped that he’d spent so much time with a pack of wolves that his scent had to surely be on him by now.

“How about you?  What do you do for fun?” Jack enjoyed fighting and exploring but he hadn’t shown as much interest in hunting as Nico had.  To Nico hunting was one of the most important aspects of staying alive, as well as fun.  Admittedly though, Nico had more than once ended up having a meal supplied by Cal who got it from pack supplies.  The small mighty hunter didn’t need to succeed every day at getting his own food.
