The newest litter of Fatalis pups had been carted down to the Hallows to visit some other, new pups and Andy is taking every opportunity she can to go explore. These lands are strange and, the minute they had crossed into Auster, Andy had immediately been drawn the white powdery stuff that coated everything in the berry grove. Even more puzzling is the way the lands they next traveled through have a magical feel about them. Still, that sparkling white stuff has been calling to her since the purple pup set paw into the castle.

After the meet and greet with the pups and the family had gotten all settled into their rooms, Andy began to bide her time and wait for the perfect moment to slip away. It finally came and the purple girl managed to make it away, seemingly unnoticed, by her parents. Once she hits the open plains, Andromeda breaks into a run, tongue lolling out the side of her mouth as she races toward the powdery stuff.

A shadow circles overhead, her dad’s bird friend never missing a beat and silently trailing after the loose pup. But Andy does not notice; the thrill of a new place and new experiences is too exciting for her. The plains give way to trees and berry laden bushes, and further in, what she has been looking for. Paws slow as the sparkling blanket of snow comes into view, the girl’s eyes rounding in wonder.

Rushing into the stuff, Andromeda yelps in surprise at how cold it is. However, that does not stop her from crunching through it, kicking up the powder as she goes. With a laugh, the pup reaches her head down to snap up some of the cold, crunchy stuff in her maw and bites down on it. Its edible? Wonder, joy, and excitement fill her to the brim as she races around, laughter following after her.

Unbeknownst to the pup, her ruckus is drawing the attention of a predator from the nearby dam. A greedy caiman makes it way slowly toward the playing pup, spying an easy dinner in the making.

There was so much excitement going on in The Hallows that it was almost overwhelming even for such an energetic child like Dusk. There were so many new things. So many new faces. New smells and tastes and sensations. Now that she wasn't locked in her family's chambers anymore and could roam the castle, the girl was discovering many new things. Some that she probably shouldn't have discovered, but... you know... Kids will be kids.

And speaking of kids...

One of Dusks cousins, thinking that she was being sneaky, crept from the hall. Fire opal eyes narrowed slightly. Oh no, she wasn't going to be the only one to go on an adventure! Just as sneakily, Dusk crept from the castle, sticking to the shadows like the little soot sprite that she was. Once she was out in the wilds, it was significantly more difficult to hide. A blanket of white covered the ground and the girl was the exact opposite. A little frown pulled at her maw, but she would make do. Even though the ground was white, there were still shadows to cling to.

Quietly, the dark child followed her amaranthine cousin across the snowy ground and into the grove. The smell of berries was still on the air, despite the cold, though their sweet tang was somewhat different than it would have been if they'd been fresh. It was a wonder that they hadn't all been consumed, but Dusk could see a few different berries still clinging to the highest branches of the trees. Maybe things couldn't climb that high? She wasn't sure.

The sound of Andromeda laughing and bouncing about in the snow brought lynx-tipped ears perking upwards and Dusk could no longer help herself. With a whoop, the obsidian child launched herself at her cousin, tackling Andy into the white powder playfully. The pair rolled in the snow for a while, tussling good naturedly. Neither of them were aware enough of their surroundings to notice the oncoming predator, and what an odd one it was!

From up above, a big bird called out a warning. Dusk didn't now whose bird it was, but she did heed the warning. Hyper and adventurous, yes. She wasn't stupid, however. Finding her paws, the girl's fiery gaze scanned the area. Snow clung to her dark coat, but she paid it no mind. The slither of a long body sliding across the ground met Dusks ears and a low growl pulled from the pup. Lips peeled back and her thick pelt bristled, making her appear much larger. What was a caiman doing here in the cold? Had it gotten lost somehow while traversing the nearby river? It hardly mattered now. The reptile was longer than she was and looked rather strong. It also looked desperate, as though it was starving. Dusk cast a side-eye towards her cousin. Would Andy want to fight or flee?

The caiman made a beeline for them, its claws digging into the lightly frosted ground to give it purchase. Dusk hopped out of its path, circling around one side of the reptile. As its attention was now on Andromeda, the midnight child hopped around to the caiman's back end. Teeth sank into the scutes and Dusk lashed her head back and forth. It wasn't easy to rip through the hard flesh, but Dusk wasn't your average wolf. Thanks to her dad, she had abnormally strong jaws and teeth. Those little puppy teeth sank between the scutes and Dusk tasted caiman blood for the first time. Her eyes widened in surprise and she released the tail, licking her bloodied lips with relish. Oh... that was interesting!

"Let's kill it, Andy," Dusk urged her cousin. Perhaps some little girls might have been squeamish about the idea of killing something so young, but again, Dusk was an anomaly. She was very much looking forward to a little bit of murder. And why not? It had wanted to kill them, had it not? Up above, the big bird wheeled and flew back towards the castle, most likely to fetch some sort of help. They wouldn't need it. Dusk was confident in her abilities... even though she had no idea what those abilities were.

Without waiting for Andromeda to agree or disagree to her plan of action, Dusk leaped back into the fight. The caiman spun towards her, its long snout open wide. The girl snapped and snarled, lashing out with one paw, sharp, retractable claws slicing through the tip of the reptile's muzzle. Blood splattered the ground from that strike and the caiman recoiled, backtracking through the snow until it was backed up again a bush. Not very smart to corner itself, Dusk thought. Once more she skirted to the side, the two girls keeping the caiman sufficiently distracted by working together. Again teeth sank into the creatures long tail and Dusk jerked her weight backwards, pulling the caiman out from beneath the bush. It jerked its tail out of her mouth, the sharp scutes cutting into her lip and cheek and she yelped in surprise to taste her own blood. Surprise turned to anger. How dare this thing hurt her?!

With the caiman spinning back and forth between the two, it was easy to pepper the creature with bites, each one drawing a little more blood. It was taking a long time though. Could they maybe flip it onto its back? "Flip it!" She called out to her cousin, then bit its tail again and struggled to wrestle the thing onto its back. Once they got it there... they could jump on it? She hadn't thought that far. Oops.

A ‘whoop’ pulls Andy’s attention from her own enjoyment of the snow and she looks up to see Dusk baring down on her. Without enough time to react, the purple pup is bowled over by the soot cloud of a cousin and she laughs on the way to the ground. They roll and tussle, the happy puppies’ releasing some of their energy. Aiming a bite at Dusk, a high-pitched shriek pulls her attention up to Marshall. Dang, stupid bird followed her!

However, the purple pup does not have time to dwell on that fact as a caiman suddenly appears and slithers toward them. Leaping to her paws, Andromeda becomes a united front with Dusk, the girls distracting and biting the reptile in equal parts. When Dusk calls out to kill it, a smile finds its way to her lips and Andy darts a glance to the soot ball of a wolf, a silent understanding forming between the girls.

Andromeda has already claimed her first kill and she understands the adrenaline rush that it brings. Dodging an attack, she snarls, paws smacking out at the muzzle of the caiman. Dusk seems to be doing more damage than her so Andy focus on keeping its attention on her. When her dust ball cousin yelps in pain, the purple girl lashes out, teeth opening wounds along the long snout of the beast. Dusk shouts to flip it and the purple girl immediately moves to reply.

Racing to its side, Andromeda rams her body into the space between the front leg and its body, shoving with all her might in an attempt to flip the creature over. If Dusk helps, the girl is certain that they can do this.

Dusk and Andy worked well together, each girl seeming to understand what the other would do before they even did it. In tandem, they managed to both get the caiman out from under the bush and work on flipping it over. With Dusk twisting the tail and Andromeda slamming her head into the crocodilians side, they soon had the reptile on its back. It thrashed and spun, flipping back over, but it didn't stop, instead it spun and spun and Dusk merely stood and blinked at it for a few.

It took a minute to get the timing right, but as the caiman flipped, Dusk leaped, landing on its belly hard. Well, hard for a puppy. Her weight stopped the next roll, but she would need Andy's weight as well. Instinctively, the girls mouth closed down over the caiman's throat, strong jaws and teeth pressing into the more tender flesh there. She held it down, biting, biting, biting.

They fight the angry caiman and the girls actually manage to flip the creature. However, they are both forced to step back as it rolls and rolls… and rolls. Pale eyes glance to Dusk as they wait for the creature to stop and she sees the dark soot cloud forming a plan. A smirk crosses her lips as she waits, ready to react whenever her cousin strikes.

The moment comes and Dusk leaps forward, landing on the caiman’s belly and Andy darts forward. With all her might, the purple pup throws her body over the front legs of the beast, effectively pinning it for the moment. Looking to Dusk, she nods, showing she has the beast and that the dark cloud can end this fight at any time.

Working together, Dusk felt as though she had bonded rather well with the other girl. They flipped the caiman onto its back, both of their weight able to hold it down. It struggled of course, but in the end it was no match for them. The struggled eventually ceased and the reptile stilled. Dusk held on a moment longer just to be sure, then released her jaws from her preys throat. "We did it!" Her long tail swished happily back and forth and she stared down at the blood splattered snow around them.

She didn't quite know what to do with the thing now that it was dead, but something sparked in her mind. "I remember hearing someone mention a feast. Maybe we could take this for people to eat?" She tilted her head. Did wolves eat caiman?
