Verity was not one to seek out new friends since she was always busy practicing her skills or looking for the next nook to explore. But when a playdate was gifted to her she would be silly to deny it! She enjoyed playing with others and she considered the knowledge other Wolves had to offer. So far her relationship with Seere, the Apothaker of Ashen, was proving to be both fun and incredibly beneficial. Slowly, the little babe was learning that maybe being too reclusive was a bad thing and she shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the idea of social interaction outside of training. Dainty paws carried the pup through the Valley, trying her best to put a little distance between them and their parents. Hills towered above the duo on almost all sides and she couldn't help but allow her eyes to roam the peaks. She remembered then to check on her new sightless friend, tossing Kite a glance. "Why do you wear that cover over your eyes?" The question was blunt but Verity was young and full of curiosity.

Kite struggled to keep up with the stranger her father had sent her off with. Her paws were uncertain on the unfamiliar territory, and the only reason she was able to set any sort of pace at all was Lioness, the forest cat that ran at her paws. Keeping her on a relatively flat path. She wasn’t sure if this was supposed to be a punishment, or if her father was just getting her out from underpaw. There was certainly an awkwardness accompanying a wolf who didn’t give her the same automatic assistance as her siblings did.

Not that Kite liked assistance, or needed it or anything.

She moved her head in the direction Verity’s voice came from, and pitched her voice low, conspiratorial. “I’ll show you if you can find somewhere dark for us to go” She suggested


"Speech"

Verity kept looking to her new acquaintance to ensure she was following behind well. This was her fire time interacting with anyone that couldn't see and really didn't know if she should offer to help or not. But, Kite seemed to be doing well with her companions and Verity made sure to maintain a nice easy pace. She wasn't the fastest Wolf in the first place with tiny legs meant tiny strides. As they came to a pause and Kite proposed the idea of finding someplace dark Ver raised a curious brow. Her eyes then began to scan the landscape for any sort of shelter. That is when her gaze fell upon a fallen tree in the distance. It leaned over a large rock and was seemingly surrounded by brush. It was no cave but it could work. "Follow me." Ver took a step forward before stopping again, "Do you need help?" Her voice was light in that moment. - Helping or not, Verity guided them to the makeshift shelter. The small girl tucked herself into the shaded area with her back to the daylight, "Tell me if this is dark enough." It would be hard to find a cave without exploring more and Verity was impatient.

After a moment Verity spoke up again, and Kite had hopes that she had found somewhere appropriately dark. She took a few steps after the faceless voice, and then almost walked into her when she stopped suddenly. “Do I look like I need help?” she asked, her voice growing a little sharp, before she relaxed it again. She didn’t like to need assistance, but Verity didn’t know that. “I just want somewhere dark” she added, her voice a little apologetic.

They reached the tree and Lioness helped guide her in. The cat looked around carefully, and then tapped Kite’s paw. Giving her confirmation that it should be dark enough. Kite carefully nudged her blindfold up to her forehead, looking about for the stranger “Oh, I love your pretty green markings” she said, turning the full impact of her crystal eyes to the other pup.

Verity flinched slightly when those slightly venomous tones were heard and honestly she didn't know how to answer that question. The girl had a cover over her eyes and seemed to have some trouble navigating, so yes, it did look like she could benefit from help. But, Ver knew that if she were in Kite's paws that that question would get rather annoying. Which was why it had taken a while for Ver to offer in the first place. Despite understanding where the other girl was coming from she was still a little sore from the tone. They sat together for a moment before those beautiful eyes were revealed. Verity allowed her pale green gaze to pour into the crystals with vivid curiosity. She had never seen something like that before. But, what really took her by surprise was the compliment that came next. Verity's ears flicked back and her eyes shifted down to her paws, suddenly feeling slightly shy. Heat flooded her cheeks as her soft voice was heard, "Thank you." Suddenly hyper aware of herself Verity deflected the attention back on Kite. Allowing her eyes to quickly return to the other's, "Does the light hurt your eyes?"

There was still light flowing in from the outside world. Enough to help them see, but not so much that it caught in the fission of her eyes and blinded her. Squinting a little distrustfully, she looked about the little nook. Everything had a green tinge. What light was able to make it through was tinted by the bushes that surrounded them. The soil was a little damp beneath her paws, and she shifted her weight thoughtfully, before returning her gaze to Verity.

The other wolf was dark tinged, and the light tones of green stood out in sharp contrast, and Kite couldn’t help but point it out. Seeing the other wolf blush, the Fatalis wolf grinned. It wasn’t often she got to see the reactions of others. And the question, the smile vanished. Replaced by a faint scowl. “Light catches in the crystals, and amplifies it back into my real eyes beneath. It’s like staring directly into the sun, but worse.” She explained.

Verity watched carefully as the onyx and cream pup looked around. Her green eyes studied her new companion's facial features closely. Not only were her eyes unique but Ver couldn't help but to admire the black lines going down one side of her face and black stripes beneath each eye. For just a moment Verity caught herself wondering what Kite's mother had looked like. Sirius was a big black Wolf with the eye stripes. So her Mother must have had the cream and blue. Thoughts drifted back to eyesight as Kite explained how light impacted her eyes. Ver offered a little wrinkle of her nose in displeasure, "That sounds rough." She sighed gently, "It's odd how such a beautiful thing can cause so much pain." There were lots of elements of nature that absolutely dripped with beauty but have the power to reek havoc and terror. - A little idea popped up in her head, "Maybe with the right glass and a dark enough pigment you could counteract the sun's vibrancy. Find the right crafter and tools you might be able replace that blindfold, even if it is for small periods of time." Verity was no fighter or aspiring diplomat, but she had a knack for thinking up oddities and solving problems.

She blinked in surprise as Verity called her curse a thing of beauty. It was a strange and unique thing upon her body, but she was accustomed to wolves seeing it and recalling. Some, for memories of other crystals and other times. Others, for the moment they realised she was a cripplied wolf. One with a deformity that impacted her life, and her ability to pull her fair share.

As Verity posed a suggestion, she frowned - this time in thought. Could something like that work? The glass would have to encompass her eyes entirely. Any cracks that allowed in natural light would bring her pain. And what kind of glass would be dark enough to stop the pain, but allow her to see? She mused on it for a moment. “I can see if anyone back home knows enough about glass” she conceded. “So, what do you like to do, anyway?”

Verity nodded as Kite decided she mention the idea to someone back home. This mention of home raised a bit of curiosity within the girl. Where was she from? Ver only knew of Ashen thus far, her Mother had mentioned being in a pack a long time ago before she went to her Father's lands. But, Verity didn't know much about it. Honestly she didn't know much about these lands at all. Surely she'd learn with time but what better time then now to learn. The first question was asked by Kite. What did Verity like to do? A tiny smile flicked across her lips as the answer spilled from her jaws, "Right now I am enjoying training beneath Ashen's Apothaker, I'd like to become a herbalist for the pack." Her passions lied in her soon to be profession. "Also, crafting and collecting. You should see my den, I love making anything from useful gardening tools to beautiful decor." A pause. "Maybe next time we meet I'll have a gift for you. Something to match your aura." When she looked at Kite Verity pictured blue flames swallowing them whole, the aqua markings on her pelt and the crystal eyes painted that picture for her. Verity cocked her head to the side, "What do you like to do?" A pause. "Also, where are you from?" She honestly couldn't picture her new friend's hobbies.
