Kotori had been to the mangroves as a pup and a few times as he’d grown up.  They were a place he had found fun to wander as a boy and he still liked the appearance of it.  Now the land bordered their territory and it wasn’t just a nice place to visit but a good area to patrol for potential threats.  He had invited Arc along with him for patrolling.  Kotori was determined to get to know all the family members he hadn’t spent much time with in the past.

The main threat Kotori tended to imagine was bears but this time it was something different.  A large tiger was wandering the mangroves.  Kotori glanced beyond it a moment curious at the sight of a dead alligator.  Had the tiger done that or it was just a coincidence?  Either way, it didn’t matter overly.

Kotori ran towards the cat and it had no hesitation in charging the two wolves.  Both tiger and wolf seemed to hve similar ideas as they twisted about, circling each other and looking for a way to attack from the rear.  Stupid cat.  Kotori finally paused, as the tiger’s maw came towards him Kotori jerked his head at is face before scrambling away to gain distance from the part that had teeth.  He had hoped for more damage but had at least scratched its nose.  An irritating injury but hardly as damaging as Kotori would like.  The wolf hadn’t wanted to spend too long face-to-face with it though.

Anyway, he wasn’t alone, the tiger was.

"Kotori Fatalis"

Arcturus's saphire gaze roamed over the mangrove forest as he patrolled the neighboring land with his uncle. He had only ever passed through here before when he was a lot younger than he was now so this essentially felt like his first real visit. He wasn't paying close attention to Kotori's progress ahead of him until he heard the thud rushing paws and his gaze snapped back to where he had last seen his uncle, watching him and a sudden tiger rushing toward one another. The bear they had fought during their last patrol had felt more expected than the large feline, but it was still a threat regardless and he was pretty eager to make a point to any large predators around here that they were not welcome near Vanta's borders—especially when there was Vanille and Aia there for him to think about.

He moved to his right, keeping to the shelter of the trees for a moment to keep the tiger from noticing him right away while Kotori collided with the feline, the tiger seemingly all too eager to get into a fight. After his uncle and their opponent finished circling one another and clashed for a brief moment, Arcturus took that opportunity with the tiger's back toward him to rush in, latching his jaws at the base of the tiger's tail. That earned him a yowl from the big cat and it twisted around, trying to reach him with swipes of its dangerous paws. He was able to keep himself just out of reach though without letting go with some careful skittering and shifting, almost locked in a dance with their newest foe. At the very least it kept the attention on him and he was able to bite down harder on the cat's tail, making it more angry by the second.

"Arcturus Indarra"

Kotori had started the attack without checking with Arc, trusting his nephew to join without a moment of hesitation.  There was no chance to see what Arc had been up to while Kotori had been giving the cat his complete attention in their game of circling.  Arc’s actions became clear when he came up from behind and bit the animal on the base of the tail.  Excellent.

The cat was predictable in its cry out and attempt to get to Arc.  Cats and bears should someday learn the foolishness of fighting wolves, especially when it was more than one wolf at a time.  Maybe some knew, the ones who were clever enough to not go close to wolves.

Kotori wasted no time in lunging forward, jaws clamping on the right shoulder, back feet scrambling to keep up with the tigers turning.  The tiger tried lunging forward to get clear of both Arc and Kotori’s teeth at the same time.  It forced Kotori to back peddle and let go of his group, but his teeth tore through the cat’s shoulder, his bite turning into a longer gash, lengthening the injury.
