With the rest of the pack working together to tidy up around the castle Balthier only found it fair that he do his part as well. These days he wasn't the best working in groups but he would have made it work. He was mostly sober through the morning and into the late afternoon, but once he was behind the closed doors of his room or off duty making a trail to his raft is when the drinking took over. He was mostly responsible at least in the ways his pack needed him. And he tried to do all the "bad stuff" privately.

He made his way over to the training areas where it seemed still needed some working on the cleaning end but he had something a little more specific in mind. He wasn't entirely a fighter by nature but he took that route in an effort to protect his family, family he didn't have anymore. Not that he was thinking hard on that right now. He pulled out a few of the training dummies from the storage areas, looking them over before ripping out the seams with his knife so he could completely reupholster or really recraft them from scratch. It would be an easy task for him, he already had all the materials needed to fix them and he was good with his paws in ways like this that others may not have been.

"Balthier Destruction"

Ever on the lookout for something new to do or learn, Dusk was prowling around the castle grounds. A lot of the pack had been doing good deeds lately, cleaning up the castle and whatnot. It wasn't particularly Dusks thing, but it killed some time. Besides, she was expected to help out here and there as a Carpathius. This was her family and her castle, so... if she happened to see someone that needed help, she'd help. Otherwise she'd probably slink away and entertain herself.

As the growing inkblot skulked around the massive stone structure, she came upon a black and gold wolf doing... something. He looked kind of boring and she almost crept away, but Dusk saw the glint of a knife in the brutes paw and that made up her mind. Slinking forward, the small child peered around the edge of the man, trying to be completely quiet until the last moment. "Whatcha doin'?"

"Dusk Carpathius"

As a very dark young girl approached him, he couldn't help but let off a gentle smile. He didn't really go out of his way to meet the new kids of The Hallows, but their company was always welcome with him. Kids were so curious and innocent, and that's what he liked most about them.

He wouldn't realize her interest was in the knife specifically, and so his paws pushed up the ripped up dummy he would be fixing up. "It's about time these were replaced, don't you think?" He at least saw that most of Artorias' kids took an interest in combat, maybe this girl felt the same. "I can show you how to sew up the seams if you'd like."

"Balthier Destruction"

The man offered her a smile and Dusks already lengthening tail gave a wag. It never even crossed her mind that someone in The Hallows might want to harm her, so she came in close, inspecting the work that the brute was doing. Dusk was indeed curious and innocent (to an extent). She wanted to know everything about everything so she could be the smartest wolf alive. The best at everything.

As it was explained just what the brute was doing, Dusk gave her head a little tilt, looking at the rather worn sacks of... whatever that was. Extending a paw, she gave one of the split sacks a prod with a single toe. When asked if she'd like to see how they were fixed, she nodded, lips splitting in a toothy grin. "Yes, please!" Then she launched into her questions, of course. "What are these for? Can you use weapons on them? Can you fill them with different things? Are there different sized ones?"

"Dusk Carpathius"

Balthier chuckled a bit as the young girl seemed eager and jumped in for questions. She'd learn one day, whether she was the fighting type or not. She'd be a resident of The Hallows for what may have been expected of her life. If anything she'd never be unwelcome home.

"These are fighting dummies." He answered first, but went ahead with more of the explanation she asked for. "You can use them to wrestle and practice basic attacks even like you said, with weapons. They would just need to be reupholstered more often." Her many ongoing questions didn't bother him, he at least seemed kind from the outside and first impressions, he thought so. "You can use just about anything soft to stuff them. Grass, straw, wool. Its open for possibilities." That answered her question for size he assumed.

"Now you just want to tie a knot through the lace at the end here," Careful claws tied through the thick thread he would be using, and the other end he wove through a somewhat large needle easy to stick into. Pinching the thread between two toes he stuck the needle into the fabrics to pull through and then back again. He looked at the girl for just a second to see if he still had her interest. At least with the lesson he hoped. He was sure she would wander off quickly once she was done here.

"Balthier Destruction"

Dusk listened as the man explained what the dumb dummy things were for. She nodded to let him know that she was paying attention. As he began sewing the fabric back together, the girl giggled, raising one paw to cover her maw. "Isn't sewing for girls? I think my sisters sew things." Dusk didn't know that anyone could do anything just yet, being as young as she was.

As Balthier continued to speak and show her, Dusk leaned in, watching the stitch and the knot. Again she nodded. This didn't look too hard and she was pretty sure that she could do it. Already the girl was getting bored though and had begun to get a little fidgety. "Well, that was a cool lesson and all, but I have to go... do things." With a beaming smile, the girl turned and hightailed it back to the castle. There had to be someone else that she could bother inside.
