Rhian would be hanging around here for a while, probably. It was a place where she could very easily find other wolves who wanted the same thing as her: to fight and train and never have to pretend to be anything but strangers with a common goal. It was a place of self-improvement. She liked that. It suited her goals. Namely, to make herself into both a deadly weapon and the strategic hand which guided it. She had too much to do in her life to ever be anything less than a warrior, though she was no knight, no soldier. She fought for herself; she always had and always would. Her pack would need a protector, but she would never allow herself to be ordered about. Which also meant that she had to be strong enough that she would not need to barter her freedom for safety to any other leader. Ever. And so she stood, waiting for an opponent with hopes and dreams rising like saltwater in her heart.

Rhian has a lisp due to her elongated fangs, which I may or may not actually remember / care enough to write out!

A predator, cunning, smart. Intelligent, but there's something... something else to her as well. Jack moves with a sort of swagger that lives in her bones and flows through her veins. Her head high and step tall, the antihero seemed to cut through the world around her like a hot knife through butter. The grin that played across her features as she returned to the battlefield? It was iconic. Everything about Jack is iconic, at least in her own mind. Better let her keep believing it.

Her stride even as she drew to the yearling, the antihero openly assessed her competition. A quick look up and down, an appraisal. This would do, this would do just fine. "Ready when you are," her tone brassy, but not too arrogant. Jack drew her weapon and set her posture, waiting.

Eventually an opponent did arrive, a woman who made no song and dance about the whole thing; she merely looked Rhian up and down before declaring that she was ready. Rhian nodded her agreement, keeping her mouth shut for once. Apparently, she had somehow found a situation where she had nothing to say; it wasn't a big deal. She said enough, just moving existing as she did. She'd never been subtle.

She set her defenses quickly and decided that she would continue her trend of taking the first move. No point in waiting and letting someone else catch her off guard. She leapt forward, dropping her head even lower than it normally was in an attempt to butt her opponent in the chest with it. If she succeeded in that and had the time and ability to, she would then twist her head to reach in order to try to get her jaws around Jack's throat. There would be very little force behind that, since she didn't want to accidentally bite down with her elongated fangs on a delicate area.

Subtlety isn't Jack's bag either, and that was okay. She tossed her head, rolling her shoulders back, making sure she was well and truly set. The branch gripped in her jaws shifted slightly, comfortably. It was an old friend at this point. She wielded it as if it were a bat, threatening. Just a little threatening. Bold maybe. Jack is a menace in combat, but she doesn't need to be malicious here. A spar. A friendly spar. Jack could engage in a friendly spar. A deep breath, and then things sprung to life around her.

The lunge forward was meant to catch her in the chest, but Jack was already swinging. Putting the power in her hind legs, pivoting hard, she caught the headbutt in the meat of her shoulder instead. Swinging. Swinging with the branch, but through the lens of the spar, it wasn't at full power. As she wrenched backwards and away from her opponent's teeth, Jack felt them catch the side of her neck first, then her cheek. It was still a good strike, and she could feel the pain as it coursed through her system. That would only serve to power Jack farther, faster. She lunged forward, another broad swing with her stick. Though she was leaving herself pretty exposed but that's alright-- hopefully her best defense was a good offense.

Rhian managed to hit Jack, though she was not able to get a grip on her neck and her teeth simply slid from throat to cheek, drawing thin scratches under the fur. Then Jack pulled back farther and Rhian was stuck with only air. She took a step backwards as well, getting only one free breath before her opponent swung her stick with those sharp-looking spikes. Rhian was not excited to have that thing hit her. She lunged down, falling on her belly on the grass, reaching up with both paws to wrap her forelegs around her neck to pull her head down. Hopefully she would be able to then toss her head up and nip at the fur on the underside of her chin. It felt a bit strange to be lower than her, but she was shorter anyway and it was only in search of victory. Risky, yes, considering Jack could swing that stick at her again and she was less able to dodge in this position, but she could take it.
