Indigo didn’t often go very long without seeing Aia, his preference was that she was with him always. Curled up in his thick mane was exactly where she belonged. She was growing, though not any bigger. Aia found her full height, and it was teeny tiny. However small she was, her tiny form fit perfectly within his mane. Her innocence and joy didn’t return him to being the man he once was, but he’d grown stronger and more resilient for her. He savored the time he was given with her, and feared the day that she would grow into her wings and fly away from him.

That thought was always pushed down to the depths of his heart. He wanted ot keep her forever, but that wasn’t how a child was supposed to live their life. Indigo made his own way, and he knew she would too, but he’d let her stay for however long she wanted. Aia had control of her life, he was just there to prepare her, and lean on when she needed it.

The man led his daughter to the place that was once his home. Nothing was the same anymore though, and by now he had spent more time away than he had lived here. Still, his massive paws found familiar trails as he made his way to where Iolaire’s cabin once stood. To his surprise, there were still both roses and lavender here so many years later. With the winter cold they weren’t blessed with any flowers, but the plants themselves still stood strong. Memories of Io and Meadow both jumped to his mind as he looked from dormant plants to his tiny daughter.

”Well, this is it. Not too much to speak about nowadays.” He chuckled softly and led the way up to the once garden gate. ”There used to be a cottage here once. It’s where I learned everything I know about plants.”
