Alaois had decided to take a trip to the North, partially in hopes of seeing Calida, should the woman still be around, but also for himself. He felt as though he’d been slacking lately, and that simply wouldn’t do. Ala was not the lazy sort by nature, but perhaps in his waiting for the Phoenix of War he had allowed his own skills to fall to the wayside. Maybe that was why the puma had gotten the jump on him? Not that it had lived to tell the tale, of course. With Kotori’s help Alaois had turned the other predator from a threat to a nice cape that drapped acros his upper body. It was welcome this far in the North were chillier temperatures.

Though Alaois had not gotten as far north as he could have the chilly temperatures could be felt. Ala was not fond of the cold, though he tolerated it as he stepped through the autumn leaf litter at his feet. Freshly fallen leaves, not yet decayed into the ground, were at his paws. This wasn’t surprising, given the season. The man hummed to himself, glancing up from the crispy leaves to the massive redwood forest he had come across. The trees were massive, some even bigger than that! It was amazing to think a forest had grown to this size - it had to practically be ancient.

Cool hued eyes flicked from the trees to what he could make of the landscape around him. There was no pack scent present here, so it didn’t belong to a pack, although there was the faint smell of a loner here and there. Alaois gave a soft snort. He didn’t mind loners, per sae, but without Calida in the picture trying to collect followers was near pointless. Maybe that was what lead him to feel so frustrated lately. He would have loved to do more for the woman, but it was near impossible to be attentive to someone who wasn’t here. Perhaps she had returned to her father and brother, after all. Left him behind.

Alaois gave a soft snort at the thought. Time would tell. His ears flicked forward, and the sound of something, or someone else moving through the leaves caught his attention. The male tossed his head back, gaze narrowing as he waited to see who might come around one of the red woods.

You should see me in a crown;
Watch me make 'em bow, one by one!

The Red Forest, oh, the memories that floated like sad wraiths about her porcelain crown. The dark queen could even remember with a certain level of fondness the day Kichi had frightened her with a spider. She sat still as a statue, eyes in an almost trance-like stare affixed to the mouth of the den she had once shared with Alastor and the pup she had killed for. It had grown over, the roots of one of the redwoods took over the large mouth of their den, her heart ached to think that something more tragic than her sudden disappearance had happened to them all. There was hardly any trace of her left at all, had she died? Perhaps so, even though she didn't feel very dead. The mad queen grew frustrated with ghosts from the past, with herself for wanting her would-be followers to be waiting on her return. It felt foolish, and it was. With an aggravated huff, the crystalline Mirovian moved through the trees, careful not to crunch any leaves or disturb the litter too much. She could not help the odd crunch, disjointed sounding in the deathly silence of the forest at night.

Her ghostly form would apparate from a diagonal behind the oddly highlighted man, his scent foreign to her. Coming from the right side of him, seen with just a look over his shoulder, she came to a stop a few feet away. Holographic white-lavender gaze was made all the more ghostly by the pale cloud of white that tried to cover her left eye, her expression one of near madness and territorial aggression; misplaced as it may be. She announced her presence with a simple clearing of her throat, the double vocal sounding as though there was more than one wolf making the sound. The moonlit goddess stood a full hand higher than the male, but she knew better than to take anyone as they appeared. Standing there, staring at the male, she gave an oddly hungry smile, and her tail rose in the air in a dominant fashion before flicking out to come to be parallel with the ground in an obvious challenge. With her head lowered in a predatory stance, she began to circle the male, licking her lips and sizing him up. "You seem oddly alone, here, dove. Care for some company?" Her words were at odds with the way she paced around him, her flashing eyes dangerous and dark.

Now, she allowed her paws to crush the leaves beneath her paws, skewing a few here and there with her scarred right leg as her scarred visage shifted expressions between smiling and anger. There was a hope that the male would feel threatened enough by the Night Mother as she circled him to spur him into fighting. An outlet was needed. Crunch, crunch Her kingdom had fallen here as well before it ever got to live. Crunch. Crunch. She snarled slightly, double vocals making the sound terrible. Crunch. The sound of leaves seemed to agitate her further, memories of Kichi running through them while she and Alastor rolled around enjoying one another. Dead leaves, dead dreams, dead meat. She stopped walking the moment she could face him, standing just two feet away from him, holographic white-lavender eyes boring into the glacial blue-green of the man's gaze. Hackles raised as a darkened sneer of a smile spread over her face, her head lowered as though she bowed to him, but her ears tipped forward in aggression. If he hadn't already made it to his feet, now would be a good time to do so because Ilyn moved in from the side, and Samael perched above his queen in a giant redwood.

Never believe that you are truly alone. It was a warning that his mother had often told him, but one that Alaois had never heeded as a youth. He had been so focused on the area around him that he did not truly notice the dame’s presence until she cleared her throat. It was then, and only then, that Ala turned to her, his blue-green gaze focused on the pale woman that had appeared. She appeared to have the stance of a predator, and Alaois took a defensive stance in response. He followed her, turning as she circled him, not afraid, but prepared, ready, as the woman seemed to make her desires known. She was a dominant fae, and it seemed she was hungry for a fight. Alaois gave a snort at her words, seeing how they contradicted what she really seemed to be after.

“Don’t try to fool me with pretty words, my lady, your walk betrays what you are truly after. If you seek a fight, a pleasant distraction, then all you need to do is ask.” The man told her, his tenor chords spoken like a gentleman, but his own actions betraying that of a soldier who would do whatever was deemed necessary. He had no qualms about fighting a woman, and in fact, he seemed eager to see what this pale femme could do. She crunched the leaves around them, stalking, and Alaois allowed her a couple of moments longer in this game. He could play and keep up if this was what she was wanting. It seemed she was not alone either, and the man found himself curious about her companions. This would be interesting.

In a normal setting, Alaois might have offered her the first move. But for a woman who betrayed her predatory nature, such an offer was an insult to her. He parted his jaws, leaping toward the dame. He came in hard, hoping that his heavier-framed body might assist him as he attempted to slam into her chest with the bony part of his left shoulder. His jaws also dipped down to his right and up to his left, hoping to snap onto that pretty little face of hers. He hoped she wouldn’t mind the blood too much. But Alaois was certain that the fae would give her all, and not leave him disappointed.

Watch me make 'em bow, one by one!

A pleased grin melded with the snarl on her face to create a truly frightening expression as the male rose to his paws. Her hopes had not been in vain, the male's jaws parting in open threat as he launched for her shortly after greeting her in return. Samael screeched from above as the male tried to tackle her head-on to warn her of his attack, the male's bravery was not lost on the beastly empress as he went for an offense rather than defense. The bird then lost interest and began to find something to eat instead.

Lurid jumped to her right, out of the way of his shoulder but not his teeth entirely. The sharp points scathed across her cheek, leaving angry scratches in their wake, and pulled a dual-tones growl of pleasure to the devilish woman. Images of Alastor's teeth flew through her mind, spurring her anger as she retaliated instantly, no sooner than his teeth marred her skin did she snap her head toward the left side of his neck. Her jaws parted hungrily and she aimed to seize his flesh in a vicious bite. Should her aim be true, she would shake her head to rend her teeth back and forth in his flesh. Ilyn came in then to help his queen topple the male, swiping his right paw toward the male's hind legs to help bring him to his back; a favored position for the dominating demon.

Her intentions were to pin the smaller male beneath her, despite his heft, so that she could rend his flesh and leave a gaping hole. A punishment he may not have deserved since it was her own demons she was lashing out against. Her face burned where his teeth had grazed her, reminding her of the love she had lost and all that was taken away with him. All over again, fury wracked her mind and her vision turned crimson.

As Alaois came in for the attack he heard a bird call out. Likely a companion of the dame whom had approached him. He hadn’t considered the possibilities that she might have companions. It was getting to the point where he had been considering getting a pair of his own, two animals that would serve under. Perhaps when all was said and done here, and he had served his purpose with this woman, he might seek such animals out. For now, his blue-green gaze focused on her. If her stance was anything to go by, he was in for a treat this fight, and might even walk away with an injury or two.

She jumped to the right, and the points of his teeth managed to scratch across the surface of her cheek, drawin bits of blood, but it was nothing more than a minor injury. Her head moved, and her jaws snapped at the left side of his neck. He managed to rear back but not enough, her hold earned, and as she began to shake him Alaois redistributed his weight across his limbs, seeking to keep himself on his feet in their dance. It was a good thing too. He felt a disturbance at his hind legs as something furry began to swipe at them, trying to bring him down. Alaois didn’t lose focus however, doing his best to move with the woman’s movements while keeping himself anchored to the earth. There was no denying her bite had worsened with the movement, however, and blood welled up from the wound she had caused.

Alaois snarled he attempted to twist his head again, keeping at an arch due to her hold on his neck. He wouldn’t be able to curl in too tightly, but it was enough for the main to take a pass at her ear nearest to him. He sought to grab ahold of the appendage and clamp down on it. While he didn’t seek to tear it away from her head, he had no qualms about leaving some bitemarks or tears within it. Would she release him if he managed to get a hold and retaliate in a different way, or would she continue her attempt at trying to tear away a hunk of flesh?
