Her mother had said she loved the tar pits, and that alone increased the curiosity Morticia had about the place. Their den had been in the Dancefloor of the Gods, a grassy area, but that beautiful landscape began to shift and change the moment she neared the tar pits. There was a strong smell in the air that made her nose wrinkle. It was kind of bad, but interesting at the same time. And this was the place that her mother had said the wolves from Habari were supposed to be staying. She didn’t know why they were here, or what had happened between them and her mother, but Morticia was eager to interact with them. At least until the sight of a large locust caught her attention. It was a rich, vibrant green, out of place in this landscape. Morticia’s bi-colored eyes went wide, a grin sweeping across her face. She loved bug hunting! Her bottom wiggled in the air and the girl began to creep forward. She could hear the squealshing movement of the pits nearby. She didn’t realize how dangerous they were yet. She hadn’t seen any of the Habari wolves yet either, and with the locust in her sights she was ready to pounce! Only problem was, the moment she got close enough to do that, the locust moved. It cleared distance easily, moving between two of the pits as it landed on the ground only to hop off again. Morticia giggled, chasing after it with glee. But the moment the locust landed in one of the pits and stopped moving, Morticia skidded to a halt. She could see how the bug was starting to get slurped up by the tar, her eyes going wide as it struggled. “Bye buggie!” She called to it. Whatever the pits were made of seemed like it would swallow anything up, so Morticia made the note not to step in them. Morticia glanced around and, seeing a wolf nearby, she darted toward them, barking eagerly. “Hello! Morticia saw you at the meeting. Who are you?” |

Misery had found some sort of large lizard that reminded him of Kali’s. He had promptly killed the thing and peeled off a large portion of the skin off its back. Now, Misery was considering the spine of the lizard, finding weaker spots and quickly deciding he would need to tear in deeper. Misery didn’t have any tools for cutting so this would be a slow process.
Misery put a paw on the edge of a skin tear when a streak of color was noticed approaching. In such a drag landscape there was no way not to notice Morticia. If there was any questioning of the mother of the child it was completely confirmed when she talked in the same idiotic way as her mom. Misery felt his youngest siblings would be better off drowned but they at least knew how to talk. Medusa and her kid made them actually appear to have half a brain.
The cold thoughts didn’t show on his face though, instead, he gave Morticia a small smile, settling his paw back on the ground and away from the lizard corpse. He’d dragged the thing from where he had first killed it to keep his studying zone free of too much blood. The stripes of blood leading back to where it had been killed could be seen further in the distance. There was some fresh blood on the tip of one paw but with his black coat, it wasn’t overly noticeable other than smell.
“Hello Morticia,” the child was welcomed warmly as if he was one of those wolves that actually liked kids. “My name is Misery,” the black and silver wolf saw no point in offering a last name since this appeared to be a first-name basis greeting. “What brings you out here?” Misery made a small show of glancing about before looking back to Morticia, “I don’t see anyone with you. Isn’t it boring playing alone?”

The question had no sooner left Morticia's mouth than had she noticed the lizard. Her red-violet gaze widened with fascination. That was a big, big lizard! Its skin was peeled back, and she could smell the blood coming from it. That didn’t bother her in the slightest though. She was fascinated. But, as the black and silver wolf started to talk, she flicked her attention back to him. Sometimes it was hard keeping her attention, but at least for the moment, Morticia made certain to memorize his name. Misery? “Misery is a neat name! Morticia likes it!” A wide grin found its way to her face. “Morticia was hunting buggies! Big ones! But the buggy got sucked up by the black goop. Bye bye buggie.” She frowned as he said there wasn’t anyone with her. Should there have been? But more importantly, he pointed out that it might be boring playing alone. Morticia shook her head. “Morticia doesn’t mind being alone! But… Maybe Misery wants to play?” She tilted her head to the side, bouncing on her paws. “Or Misery could show Morticia what he’s doing to the lizard! Misery hunted it?” |

“I’ve always liked it,” Misery replied back in regards to his name. “Hunting bugs? I imagine you do have to start small when you’re small but you know what’s fun with larger prey?” Misery looked from the pup and back down to the corpse. “After you kill it you can rip it apart and see what’s inside. and I don’t mean the same way you rip the food when you are eating it. Slowly, carefully not to make a mess. Have a look?” Misery nodded to the corpse before him.
“The more you know of what it looks like inside, the better you understand how to hurt them and, I think its just interesting.” See what Medusa’s child thinks of this sort of thing. Maybe they could be ‘friends’, until it was a good time to kill her at least.

Morticia frowned a little when Misery made the comment that you started small when you were small. She wasn’t that small, was she? She was big! The girl wouldn’t really have time to get upset at the bug statement though, because immediately after Misery started talking about ripping prey up to see what the insides looked like. Her gaze would flick to the corpse, curiosity lighting up her gaze as she examined what was before her. How the bones and flesh within were peeled back in a careful manner. She could see the heart and lungs. Organs that she knew of but had never seen in this manner before. Her eyes were shining as she lowered down, and for once the girl’s energy seemed calm, replaced by fascination as she lightly prodded the lizard. The bones that had been parted in the chest shifted at her touch and the girl tilted her head to the side. This was so neat! Morticia had never considered messing with corpses before to see how they worked. She was so interested in the corpse now that she forgot to even say anything, wiggling the bones and poking the insides that were exposed to her as she let her guard down. |
