Winter has chilled the air, brought snow to many lands, and driven prey further south. Always up for an adventure, Calico Jack had set out toward the west to find new places… and he finds a small paradise. The bite of winter is less here and the boy happily notices that the grass is still green while there are no traces of white powder clinging to the ground. Paws pull the almost yearling to the sandy shore of a long, winding river as the sparkling water beckons him to come and quench his thirst. Eyes scan the area, searching for any threats before he steps up to the cool water’s edge. Satisfied that the area is safe, the tall boy lowers his head and pulls a long drink from the river, enjoying the feel of the cold-water trace through his insides.
A sound catches his ear and Jack lifts his head, water droplets falling from lips as he does so. Pale blue eyes turn to find a large tiger stalking toward the young wolf. The feline had been completely silent, tracking him like the great hunter it is. Their eyes meet and the beast flicks its ear in irritation that it has been spotted but does not back down. Calico Jack wheels around, squaring up the huge cat as it continues toward him and he is unwilling to go down without a fight. The pup bristles, growling at the feline as it moves toward him and he realizes that the tiger isn’t stopping. Without warning, the tall boy rushes forward, snapping at the cat’s face and earning a hiss and swipe of deadly claws.
The cat and wolf circle each other, looking for openings to exploit as neither predator is willing to back down.

As he tended to do, Remus began focusing his attentions on getting a lay of the land as quickly as he could once they finished the move away from the Shrine and into the lands that were nestled against the edge of the desert. The sandy dunes didn't seem all that promising nor fun to travel through, but there was some interesting pockets of land here and there that he found as he went. One such spot was the Emerald Valley which he began to frequent since there was a good amount of prey that found refuge and water here as well. That's what brought him out today, but what had started out as an easy and even leisurely trip quickly turned into a completely different kind of trip when the growls and hisses catch his attention. His ears perk and after a quick scan he spotted a familiar young wolf staring down a large tiger, the two of them circling one another at the edge of the water.
A little exasperated, amused snort left him as he began to move closer, keeping out of sight for now and timing his approach for whenever the tiger wasn't facing in his direction. As they began the circle again and the tiger's back ended up facing him, Remus kicked off and rushed forward, sinking in a bite at the tiger's hip. It seemed to notice him approaching from the sound of his paws hitting the ground, but wasn't fast enough to get out of the way before his teeth sank into skin and flesh, earning him a yowl from the large feline. Remus didn't try to keep a grapple on the cat, instead letting the cat spin around and back up to face them both with it's new, bleeding wound while Remus inched closer to his now two-time fighting partner. "Again with the getting into fights with predators, huh?" he questioned teasingly with a quick glance to Calico Jack, but still keeping his attention on the tiger.

Calico Jack circles the huge cat, eyes scanning its defense for an opening to exploit. To the pup’s great relief, a familiar flash of slate and gray appears, rushing in to attack the feline’s hip. A huge grin appears on the boy’s lips as Remus backs away and he trots sideways so that they are closer together. The man’s words have a laugh filling the air before Jack puffs out a loud snort and says, “Yeah but I didn’t pick this fight! Fucker was hunting me. Very rude if you ask me.”
The words are light and filled with mirth even as he has duck under an errant swipe of a clawed pad. As the paw retreats, Jack lunges in, teeth sinking into the tiger’s face. With a snarl and twist, the pup relieves the tiger of its right eye and the creature yowls in agony. Backing away, the boy spits out the eyeball and keeps spitting as he says, “Ew. FUCK. That is disgusting. GROSS.” Shaking his head, the pup wonders just how long the nasty taste will last. The grass around the tiger begins to turn red as blood pours down the tiger’s face while Jack wants nothing more than to run to the water and drink away the taste.

Calico Jack pulled a little snort of laughter from him as he insisted that the tiger had been the one to pick the fight, even claiming that he had been hunting him while they both continued to dodge swipes from the feline's deadly paws. He didn't know this kid aside from his name or where he came from, but he was certainly entertaining. Just as the fight was ticking off it was abruptly ended as Jack lunged forward, sinking his teeth right into the tiger's face and when he pulled back most of the big cat's eye was completely gone. Remus winced at the wound, knowing just how bad that had to hurt, and sure enough the tiger roared in pain, staggering back from its opponents that it clearly had misjudged. He readied himself to take on the next attack while the boy beside him went on about how disgusting the eye tasted, but he ended up not needing to. The tiger very quickly decided it was out matched, especially now that it was partially blind, and turned tail to run. He scoffed softly and turned his gaze toward Calico Jack again, grinning and chuckling as he watched the boy freak out about the taste of the eye for a few moments longer before he started nudging Jack toward the steam to get a drink.
