Kitsune was on her way back home after a long adventure exploring the world outside of Ashen. As first a Chunin, and then more recently a Daimyo, she knew it was important she understood the lay of the land. It meant she missed much of the moving bustle from the lands of her birth to the new ones. Perhaps that was a little by design, too. She wasn’t ready to let go yet, and the timing of her exploration meant she didn’t have to face it just yet.

She explored a few pack borders, and got a better grasp of the land as a whole then she had ever had before. But she had to admit, the idea of heading home was a good one. She missed her Mumma, and her younger sisters were due to be born any day!

Just as she was nearing the borders to their new home, she heard the baying yip of a pack of coyotes. She froze, tilting her head and listening. There it was again. They were stalking her. Perhaps they thought a single wolf would make good prey. This close to Ashen especially, she knew she couldn’t let it lie.

She turned, ready to face them. They approached at a quick pace, fanning out immediately. Attempting to surround her. Her Kite - Laila, let out a cry. Warning her as the first coyote dove in. Kitsune turned, her paws kicking up dust at the abruptness of the move. The first strike missed her by a hair's breadth, and she tilted her shoulders so the spikes of her armour caught the creature on its way past. She lowered her head then, swiping it hard to the side. Cutting off the next attack, and scouring a line across its chest. Her horns, which shimmered in every tone of red, looked as if they were aflame.

She let out a sharp snarl, and finally went on the offensive. Diving at the one she had cut with her horns. It tried to dive to the side, but she was too quick. She landed on top of it, and felt the wind of another coyote chasing her. Shoving her back paw onto the downed coyote to keep it there, she turned. Shoving her horns into the approaching coyote, and skewering him across the neck. She had to pry that one from her horns with a forepaw. By that point, the coyote under her was writhing and pawing at her. She bit down hard on its neck, and it was still. The last coyote turned and fled, and she bared her teeth as it departed. She had managed to get away from the fight with only a few nicks, but she knew she was lucky.

A Ray of Light

The male uncertain of his path began pawing slowly at the ground, boredom had set in and being alone had taken it's toll over the last few days. He lifted his pale coloured frame and pulled into a stretch, yawning as he did so.

Pulling the lone wolf out of his daze, a loud yapping sound of Coyotes. Irritated, he straigthened his back, slightly raised his hackles and began walking in the opposite direction. Abruptly his body came to a halt, ears pulled back as the sound of another canine was heard.

Thoughts rushed through the blanc lupus' mind, should he... Before he could finish the thought, he realised that his body was already in motion, dashing towards the commotion. All of a sudden a figure darted out, mouth openend wide, his jaws clamped down onto the shoulder of the coyote. The impact was enough to bring the animal down, a strong white paw protracted it's claws into the skin, just above the brisket. A swift swipe of the paw and the creature's chest deflated giving it's last breath.

The predator pulled himself down off the smaller canine's corpse. Ears spun to the sound of another and from the sounds he could distinguish, it was in pain. He spun his body round and before he could even take a step the strong scent of female wolf stung his nostrils. Narrowing his sight, a brown wolf came into sight, bright red flamed horns protruding out of a limp canine body.

"Why, Hello there."

Not realising his own complexion, his brilliant white coat was stained with the blood, fresh from his last kill. Adrenaline caressed his body, boosted his confidence and allowing him to forget how lonesone he had been.

As she calmed her breathing and assessed herself for wounds, Laila, her flying companion let out a soft cry. Warning her that there was something out there still. She straightened, her eyes running across the Deluge and settling on the white form that came into focus. The other wolf had a couple inches on her, but not the towering height many in her family boosted. His pearl-toned coat was splattered with blood, and lifting her nose to the wind, she scented coyote. Had he taken out the one that had fled at the end?

She didn’t regret the creature's loss of life. She couldn’t, it would have happily pulled her apart and dined on her if she had lost. “Greetings to you, stranger” The Ashen Princess said formally. Eyeing him a little wearily. She was almost home, just one last stretch and she would be there. First the Coyotes, and now this stranger? She wasn’t sure what brought him here.

A Ray of Light

The last rays of a setting evening sun shone onto a the wolf's white coat, enough to allow the blood to dry and become encrusted into his fur. A slender snout lifted skywards, inhaling deep, he took in the female's scent again and double checked that there was no more imminent danger heading their way.

By the sight before the male, he could clearly comprehend why the Coyote had almost taken him off his paws. It had not been his plan to kill another predator, or use his fighting skills and certainly at this moment, he was not at all in the mood for another battle. Although the female was smaller in the stature, sharp flamed horns upon her skull made up for the difference and that was more than enough to put him off fighting.

"Are you missing a Coyote?"

The disperser cocked his head slightly after his retort, snickering gently to himself and hoping that the canid would have a good sense of humour. He lowered his posture a tad, showing respect to the other wolf and understood the fact he was a lone wolf, close to claimed territory. The male was a gentlemen and was good mannered, as far as he was concerned manners didn't cost anything and there was no harm in sharing a smile and some positivity with another.
