Ren was usually one of the first puppies to leave the den. Usually the first to sleep he was the first to wake back up. While he enjoyed a good lie in like any of the other puppies Ren enjoyed going out and exploring all the more. He didn’t think there would ever be a time he wasn’t exploring and finding new things to look at. He was still exploring the forests beyond the ravine. His pale ivory paws carried him over the familiar paths leading from the palace where his family lived. The prince was obviously care free as he was released upon Ashen that evening.

A classic Klein smirk played on his lips as he raced through the territory, not too young to begin showing off his obvious lineage. His mind was on one track as he went, he was headed towards the beaches. As much as he liked dirt and playing in the earth and soil, he equally loved the ocean. If he hurried, he could see the whales passing through. He’d learned early on that their movements were predictable and almost every night, first thing, the boy went out to the rocky shores to watch them. Sometimes he’d call out, hopeful to speak with such a curious and massive creature. He was fearless as his scurried up the slick rocks and made his perch to await the massive majestic beasts.

"Renegade Klein"

Near every morning Incubus would get up bright and early to do a routine patrol of one of Ashen's borders. This was to ensure nothing breached the invisible wall of scent in the dark hours of night. He made it his priority to ensure there were no trespassers and to keep a mental note of the comings and goings of the pack. If he was meant to be a Samurai, the defenders of Ashen, he'd need to make such his business. Not that he really cared to be nosey, it was strictly business.

On this particular morning he was padding along the beach. He remained in the tree line, not fond of the wind that came with the shore. This was one of the less frequented borders. Most that came here were merely visiting for recreation. But, it was still a border that needed monitoring. Especially with the Ravine being home to Venom and her brood, as well as many other pack members.

As Incubus padded along a scent moved his way. Mixed into the salty air was the fresh smell of pup. A royal puppy at that. A tiny grin flicked at his lips as pale eyes scanned the area before him. It did not take long for Inc to find the source. A small, pale, pup sat upon the slippery rocks near the sea. Waves crashed at the rocks surrounding him and a bit of worry swam through the Uncle. One big wave could wash little Renegade away. Thus, the inky Klein moved to approach his nephew.

Trotting into ear short Inc tossed deep tones into the air, "Good morning Renegade." A toothy grin stained dark lips as carefully placed steps allowed Incubus to draw closer. Easily maneuvering along the slick rocks to take a sat next to his youthful kin. "Your Mother would have my head for allowing you to sit on these slippery rocks." Inc moved his gaze towards the ocean, "Do be careful." With the warning of caution out of the way Incubus allowed the mood to shift into something more light hearted. "What a beautiful home we have."

"Speech"

The young prince was completely caught up in the mystery of the ocean waves as he awaited the familiar sight of the giant whales. Ren didn’t know why they captivated his attention so, but their majesty and grace as they glided through the ocean waters held his young attention. His cat-like claws assisted him in holding onto the slick rocks as he waited with baited breath for the pod. Renegade nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard his uncle’s voice. He had been expecting the sounds of whales surfacing, but instead Inc’s greeting found him. Reluctantly he turned his lavender gaze back towards his uncle, surely the whales wouldn’t swim by in the moment he looked up.

Ren wasn’t sure if Incubus was reprimanding him or not as he warned about what Venom would do should he allow Ren to stay there upon the rocky outcropping. The prince knew how dangerous the water was, but he didn’t have the knowledge or foresight to realize how easily he could be swept up into it from where he was. "Aw, I will, Uncle Inc.” Ren promised as the tall male made his own way up the precipice. For a split second he thought the man would grab him and bring him down, but instead he commented on the scenery.

"I guess.” Renegade answered, yeah he enjoyed exploring and he supposed the ocean was pretty. Already his attention was back out onto the ocean as te event he had been waiting for finally happened. With grandeur, the pod of humpback whales rounded the shore. With a gasp Renegade found his feet and scrambled to the tippy top. "The whales!” He cried excitedly as they surfaced. Some of them nearly leaping from the water as they went. Ren’s tail wagged excitedly behind him as he grinned and watched.

"Renegade Klein"

Pale eyes took in the view before him. The waves weren't horribly high so he figured they'd likely be out of reach for the time being, it all depends on the tide. Incubus was glad the youngling was receptive of his warning but he hoped he hadn't come off too strong. The inky beast kept a small smile slipped across his lips to hopefully tell Ren he wasn't here to rain on the pups parade.

A small 'I guess' was heard from the Prince and Inc merely chuckled, shaking his head at the youthful answer. Just as his jaws opened for more speech Ren shot up to the top of the rocks. Incubus kept an eye on the boy ensuring he was secure before moving his attention to the Whales. The joy radiating from Ren made Inc's smile grow some. "Oh wow!" Baritone vocals called into the wind as they Whales passed. Now he knew why the boy was here. "I wonder what they look like up close." He'd only seen Whales from a distance. It was hard to imagine their size and majesty. Incubus wasn't so sure if he wanted to get too close to one. Sea creatures were in a whole unknown realm.

"Speech"

Renegade was fearless, despite the lengthy lessons his mother and father gave him about the dangers of the world, he didn’t care. He was invincible. That was the exact opposite attitude his parents would want him to have, but he did try and be careful for behavior’s sake. Besides, he really was holding as tight as he could to the slick rocks. He was being safe… safeish. Any risk was worth this view though, as his tail nearly wagged off him rump.

He barely heard his uncle’s own awe as he was entrapped in the scene unfolding before him. The slow and graceful movements of the whales. He couldn’t even tell how many there were as they slipped beneath the surface and reappeared as another disappeared. Though his selective hearing did understand Inc’s curiosity of being closer. "Right?! We’re so far away.” He lamented while reaching out a paw towards the magical beasts. As if reaching for them would bring him closer to their majesty.

"Renegade Klein"

Inc was nothing but pleased to see the young Klein so full og joy. A smile stained his dark lips as pale eyes remained on the Whales. Slowly they broached the water's surface. Some flashing their tails and splashing. Others blowing water from the tops of their backs. Incubus was not well versed on the creatures, he'd only seen them once or twice previously. He understood why Ren was so enraptured. They were majestic beasts.

The older Klein let forth a rumble of a laugh as the boy spoke. Ren reached for the water as if he could grasp the beasts. "Maybe one day they will get closer, you must earn their trust." Incubus honestly wasn't sure if that would ever happen. Or if the Whales even knew that they were there. But, if they did surely they'd eventually warm up to the boy. "Have you seen any Dolphins yet?"

"Speech"

Ren couldn’t wait until he was old enough to swim and he’d be able to take on the ocean’s waves. Soon he would be big enough to go out there and meet the massive creatures. Even though he wasn’t even sure that they wouldn't eat him. It seemed like he did have something in common with his uncle though, as the dark man looked out over the water with similar awe as the young boy. Incubus tried to encourage him, one day he might be able to truly reach out and touch the incredible animals before them.

His uncle went on as they quietly watched the whales, asking about some other creature. One that Renegade was in fact, completely unaware of. His eyes grew wide and curious as he turned from the majestic creatures and questioned his uncle. "No….!” He gasped. "What are dolphins?” His head tilted with obvious curiosity. If whales were incredible what were dolphins?
