The previous night had been ... a disaster to say the least. She replayed the confrontation between her father and Sephiran over and over, with bitter distaste towards the boy, and herself for lingering too long after dark in the first place. The guilt of having caused her parents distress over the entire situation was bad enough, but then to have woken just before dawn with a throbbing leg made it that much worse. Talyssa laid still for quite a while, counting the sudden spikes of pain as she tried to focus on anything else ... before giving up on sleep all together. With a silent huff, she hauled herself up to her feet, and as quietly as she could, exited her family's bedroom. Once outside, she moved a little more freely as far as noise went. However, she was left with a slight limp due to the soreness in her muscles.

The girl lightly descended the stairs, crossed the foyer, and into Hearthstone's first-floor east wing. Just as she rounded the corner, she stopped at the first door she came to- the infirmary. The door was closed, allowing her to face an internal debate before making a decision. If she should leave, and come back later ... or if she should press forward and admit what happened to whoever it was waiting inside. Eventually, she mustered the courage and gently pushed the door open, leaving it narrowly open as she called in to see if any of the healers were around. "Hello?" Talyssa called lightly, hoping that someone would answer her. She didn't need much, as she felt she had done a fairly decent job cleaning it out- and the boy did put something on it to help it mend. If she could just get something to ease the pain ...

Gwynevere gently untangled herself from Ysmir as she woke, stretching as she got to her paws. While she knew her fiancé would be up soon enough to begin his own daily tasks, she had begun steeping some herbs to make extracts last night and wanted to check on them before they were left too long so she couldn't wait on Ysmir to wake up as she usually did. After giving herself a quick shake and checking her fur in the old, clouded mirror–as well as making sure her circlet was centered on her head–she slipped quietly out of their room and began making her way down the stairs to the infirmary. The castle was always so quiet this early in the morning and as much as she usually enjoyed laying in with Ysmir when she could, she did enjoy the peace and quiet of the early morning corridors. Arriving at the bottom of the stairs, she glanced toward the great hall and kitchen for a moment, wondering if she should get some breakfast first, but ultimately decided she should check on her work first and come back for some breakfast if she was hungry.

Turning toward the infirmary, she had just rounded the corner when she heard her niece's soft voice calling a tentative hello. Surprised, she looked up, spotting Talyssa's tan and cream form at the infirmary door, peeking inside and seemingly looking for someone. Knowing that hardly anyone came to the infirmary besides when they needed help, she walked over to her niece with a bit of concern, saying, "Looks like you just beat me here, Talyssa. Is everything okay?" It was only once the young girl turned toward her that she saw the bite on Talyssa's leg, a little frown pulling at her lips. "Aoleu, are you alright? Come in, let's get you something for that." She finished pushing open the door so that she could usher Talyssa inside, leaving the door open as she usually did as she went over to a set of shelves that took up one side of the room and began getting down a couple of supplies. It didn't look like a horrible bite by any means, but she was certain that it didn't feel good. "Just pick a place to sit, I'll be right over!"

When she wasn’t immediately met with an answer to her inquiry, she pushed the door open a little bit further. Though she remained at the threshold, from where she stood, it seemed that none of the healers were awake yet- or at least, none practicing. With a quiet sigh, she came to the conclusion that she would just have to tough out the throbbing pain until someone did come around to provide her any sort of medicinal aid. But just as she turned to leave the infirmary for the lounge a short way down the hall, her aunt’s voice echoed through the otherwise silent corridor. A sleepy grin spread across her features, both in affectionate greeting, and relief that maybe she wouldn’t have to wait so long to be seen after all. “I’m okay!” Talyssa immediately answered, confident that her injury wasn’t life-threatening by any means. However, it seemed that Gwynevere was already making an assessment for herself. Holding it up, she offered her wrist a more clear initial inspection “It just hurts a little.” However, her aunt was already sweeping her into the infirmary to pursue whatever course of action she saw fit.

Once inside, she remained still as she watched Gwyn set to her task- admiring her aunt in her chosen skill set as she moved around the herb store in fluid motion. It didn’t take but a few moments before she was invited to take a seat while she waited for the healer to finish her preparations. Hesitating a moment, Talyssa’s pale gaze eventually found one of the cots closest to the stocked shelves. Crossing the distance between the door and her chosen spot, she hopped up on the stretched cloth to await further instruction. Momentarily looking down once she settled to get a better view of her coyote bite herself, in the unfiltered light of dawn as it shined through the windows that lined the exterior wall.

After gathering a few herbs and a bandage, keeping Talyssa's mention of how it hurt in mind in her selections, she turned back toward the young girl and walked over to the near by cot she had chosen. Talyssa was still small enough that she could use the cot itself as a surface for her supplies and didn't have to pull over one of the small tables she kept around for such things. After she placed the small roll of bandages and a pair of small pots down, she turned her lavender and sage gaze toward the bite again. Now that she was more up close with the wound, she could get a better sense of what had already been done. It obviously wasn't a dire wound by any means, but even a little scratch could become a problem if it became infected. It seemed like someone had already made a rudimentary effort at treating the bite, which was certainly better than nothing, but it clearly didn't come from her or any of the Hallow's trained healers.

"Lets get you something for the pain before I start messing with this," she said after a brief moment of examination, lifting her gaze to Talyssa's with a soft smile. She lifted one of the jars and pulled off the cork lid, revealing the dark mixture that smelled of berries. She used the small, wooden spoon that hung from the jar to scoop out a dose of it, holding it up for Talyssa to eat. "Just some meadowsweet and boneset extracts mixed into mashed elderberries for the pain and to help boost your immune system," she explained and then grinned a little as she leaned in like she was telling her niece a secret, adding softly, "and some honey to make it taste good." Chuckling softly, she let Talyssa take her medicine and then recovered the jar, putting it aside as she started unrolling the bandage and mixing the contents of the second jar while she waited for the pain relieving aspects of her medicine to take effect. "How'd you end up with that?" she questioned curiously with a small nod to the bite.

Her interest in how her aunt handled herself almost outgrew the pain in her forearm. Almost. However, the twinge of each throb was enough to keep her grounded. Talyssa couldn’t help but shift her weight in anticipation as she observed the older woman unload some of her chosen supplies on the opposite end of the cot where she lay. Seemingly satisfied with her roll of bandages and two little jars, she became immediately aware of Gwyn’s shift of eyesight in order to examine the bite wound a bit more thoroughly- or so she presumed. The girl offered the injury forward in an attempt to give the best view possible. However, her own attention remained fixed on Gwynevere’s face- searching for any indication of what the woman might have been thinking at that particular moment. Though, if the healer had any concerns, she didn’t telegraph any of them.

When Gwyn finally pulled back to meet her accidental stare, she offered a brief sheepish grin until the woman’s words registered. Then her expression shifted to something more genuinely relieved. Talyssa answered with a quick nod as she subconsciously fidgeted in place while awaiting whatever treatment lay in store. As the healer went to pull a dosage of some pre-concocted tonic with a wooden spoon, and offered it forward for her to eat, she couldn’t help but hesitate. She listened carefully as the ingredients were presented to her- nothing that sounded bad. And the mixture didn’t smell terrible either … still, her normal enthusiasm was absent as she leaned forward to swallow what was offered to her. The honey did a lot to carry the flavor. “That wasn’t so bad.” She admitted softly, more to herself than to aunt Gwyn.

Satisfied that the painkillers had been successfully administered, it seemed that they were ready to move on to the second phase … whatever that entailed. She didn’t ask for an explanation, trusting the healer to give details when they were important. Besides, she wasn’t given much of an opportunity to make a prediction, as she was asked where exactly the injury came from. “I was defending myself from a coyote.” Obviously not well, judging by the state of her forearm. But then she supposed she was alive to tell the tale at the end of the day. That had to stand for something.
