Lets paint the rocks red
Deimos

Nirvana had taken a little bit of time to settle in and make herself a den on Alias island. The cooler autumn weather had been a welcome change. Not to mention the past couple of days had been overcast, and for the albino who was more sensitive to light, this too was a blessing. But she had spent enough time arranging her new den. Now it was time to work on bettering herself and becoming a bit more than just a white speck in the background. Seeing that the day was overcast, Nirvana welcomed the weather, slipping out of the warmth of her den and setting off for the strip of land that connected the island to the mainland. Sometime later found the albino woman in the rock garden. Her red gaze swept across the stones that were scattered as an idea began to form. Wouldn’t it make for an interesting battleground if she were to spar with someone here? She made her way to one of the smaller rocks, hopping up onto it before tilting her muzzle to the sky. She called for whoever in Elysium wanted a good-natured spar. It would also give her a chance to get to know more of the members of Elysium… and perhaps even members of her family. |

Deimos walked off of the main island where Elysium made up their home, glancing toward the sky on occasion to watch the two young, black and white kites as they swooped through the sky over head. He had happened across an abandoned nest a while back and on a whim decided to try incubating the eggs to see if he could get them to hatch. He hadn't really expected much, but it had given him something to focus on during the stint of time where he had isolated himself to their den while his face was healing. He had never fancied himself the type to keep companions like his sisters, but since those eggs just so happened to hatch he felt like it was some sort of sign that he was meant to keep these guys around. Maybe they would prove themselves helpful at some point.
As he was wandering through Elysium's near by lands a howl went out, calling for a sparring partner, and his ears perked with interest. It had been a long time since he had been in a proper fight aside from the occasional skirmish with another predator or the handful of times he had landed himself in trouble, so he was inclined to stretch his muscles and give a friendly spar a go. He wasn't sure he had been in what he would call a "friendly" spar in years, but being back with his family meant that kind of thing was bound to pop up more often. He followed the sound of the call and found an albino woman at the other end—the younger woman that he knew to be his late sister's daughter. He hadn't had a chance to actually talk with his niece yet, but it was one of the things Manea had filled him in on when they reunited. "You rang?" he asked with a hint of a smirk as he approached her, leaving a bit of distance between them to create the battle field between them.

Nirvana would wait, her red gaze sweeping the horizon as she waited for an Elysium member to answer her call. The clouds, thick as they were, shifted overhead, providing at least a little light for the battlefield. While she would have preferred a nighttime fight, most sensible wolves were sleeping at that time… and Nirvana refused to let that sensitivity to sunlight be a weakness that held her back. Even if she had to fight with the weather itself, she would make it work. Her tail lashed back and forth and, soon, movement caught her eye. Ah yes, the companions she had made. She had ordered them originally to wait outside Elysium while she spoke with her aunt. Later she had gone to get them, a common genet and a red-footed falcon. Thomas and Ridge, they had been named, and they had been faithful to her. Loyal. Nirvana nodded to them, seeing how the flacon had landed on the ground near Thomas. Ridge was more of the silent type than Thomas was, a judgemental fellow, but he followed orders and didn’t mind jumping in to aid in attacking if needed. Before long a male approached her, older, a man she hadn’t met but if his coloration and stature said anything he was a Mendacium. He was a bit taller than she was with a heavier build, so toppling the man would be out of the question. Not impossible, but it would be more of a task than she would have liked. Nirvana flicked her ruby gaze to his aqua ones. “I did,” Nirvana told him. “Unused skills grow dull, do they not?” A small smirk appeared on her face as well. Nirvana settled into a defensive stance easily, the typical defenses set on her body as she gave a nod to the man she didn’t yet know was her uncle. “Your choice on who gets the first move.” |

His niece confirmed she had been the one to call for a challenger and commented on unused skills growing dull, making him smirk and chuckle softly. "That they do," he agreed. He began to shift into a fighting stance as well, mirroring her preparations with his own. He already knew that with her lighter build—and her younger age, if he was being honest with himself—that he would be playing catch up when it came to speed and mobility, but that had never been his game to play anyway. She opened the field to decide who would get the first move and he tossed her a grin as the last of his defenses fell into place. "Well, allow me, then," he replied before kicking off, bounding forward with a few long strides to draw closer to her. This was just a test of skills and a chance to sharpen them as well so he didn't feel a need to be overly cautious or precious about his movements. He moved as if he was going to throw his right shoulder into her chest, but at the last moment he ducked his head and aimed his open jaws toward her front leg instead. If his shoulder did manage to connect with her chest then that would only be a bonus. Instead he used that as a distraction and went to grab around her ankle instead, attempting to grapple her there and begin pulling her off balance.

Just as Deimons sized her up, Nirvana was making her own observations and thoughts about the man. Whereas she was built light, lithe, more of an agile creature, he was built with muscle, power. A hit from an opponent with such a build risked bruising for certain and, if this were a more serious fight, allowing him to get a hold could risk more severe damage. But Nirvana would not worry about such things. Her coat might have appeared pure, a pool of pristine white tainted by the slightest of creams, but wouldn’t stains of red match her deep red gaze better? She allowed herself a grin. She would be lying if she claimed she wasn’t excited. It had been far too long since her last chance to practice battle. Skills that she longed to hone. A sharp body, a sharp mind, an ally to be called upon when the time was right. Her right ear gave a slight flick at seeing his own grin. Even before the words left his maw she had a sense that he was ready, and Nirvana braced herself. Beside her Ridge took the sky once more, the falcon’s sharp cry piercing the air. There was no need to expect perfection, but that didn’t mean that Nirvana was going to give her uncle an easy win. He burst forth and Nirvana shifted her stance. Knowing his build he was very likely going to come in with the intent of ramming her. Which would be a good move if it connected. Nirvana had no intention of letting that go off without a hitch, though. Nirvana made to leap away from Deimos at the last moment, but she waited just a hair too long. She managed to dodge that attempted slam of his shoulder but in the leap she had placed her left foreleg in range of his jaws. Three paws hit the ground and Nirvana’s eyes widened slightly. Shit, not good. Nirvana let her weight fall, a move that would anchor her on the ground and make dodging or quick movements harder… but that ship had sailed. If Deimos managed to get her forelegs out from under her she was going to be in trouble. With one leg in Deimos’ jaws and the man wrapping around the other Nirv knew she needed to make a move. The man’s face was lower than her head, being around her leg, so her option was clear. She had to force him to let go, maybe even back off. Though, the latter was probably doubtful given his lineage and the pack he was in. Still, Nirvana’s jaws parted and she aimed for a tender area of the face - the end of the muzzle, right before Deimos’ eyes. She wasn’t seeking to maim him of course, careful not to angle herself too high to where she might accidentally catch his aqua blue gaze with her fangs. She aimed for the area right before it, twisting her head so that her jaws would clamp around it. Either he’d let go, or it would be an interesting game of chicken with their jaws wrapped around one another. Thomas had yet to leap into the fray… though the genet was on the move, attempting to circle around behind Deimos and seek an opening. |

As he had hoped, Nirvana went to dodge the slam from his shoulder and had left herself open to the bite he made around her ankle. He was still fairly careful to not bite down too hard so he wouldn't seriously injure his niece, but he didn't think she'd mind some scratches and scrapes if she was anything like her mother and aunt. He kept the grip around her ankle and began attempting to pull the leg out from under her, but he hadn't thought about how she might retaliate and suddenly his vision was filled with her incoming teeth. His lips scrunched with a snarl to protect his muzzle from the worst of it as she bit down around the end of his muzzle, growling softly in response. He didn't want to let go of her leg and give up the ground he had made, but he didn't really want to risk her teeth cutting up his muzzle either if he kept on pulling on the limb so it left them at a bit of a stalemate. Lifting one of his large, bear-like paws, he went to swing his paw at her cheek at the same time as his jaw released from her leg, hoping to get her to release him in turn and also disorient her a bit so that he could use that same paw to shove into her shoulder and push her instead.

Nirvana could feel Deimos’ grip around her ankle. There would be some scratches and scrapes, enough to be obvious against her pale coat, but no big concern there. Her fangs found some purchase, but like Deimos she wasn’t looking to cause serious or lasting damage. Still, she couldn’t just let him keep hold of her leg, could she? She was released and, in their stalemate, Nirvana let the purple man go as well. Yet, as she drew back, she felt the wind of her uncle’s paw coming towards her. A claw connected with her muzzle, cutting it, and Nirvana scrambled back as she sucked in air through her teeth. It stung, but it wasn’t a bad wound. The blow was enough to get her focused divided though. He might have only caught her with the edge of his paw, but there was enough heft and forced there that her muzzle might be a bit sore for the next day or two. Thankfully, seeing their mistress falter, her companions moved in to act. Thomas had made his way around Deimos’ side and tossed himself at the man’s hind leg with a screech – the noise meant to be distracting, disorienting, and keep him from a follow up attack on Nirvana. Ridge too would fly into the space between the wolves, beating her wings with talons facing Deimos. This fight was about over. |
