Keahilani was not built for isolation.

She was growing tired of being alone. While she enjoyed travelling for diplomacy, she didn't crave her time alone. She longed for the company of others, and she had set about these lands to find a pack. She knew she was useful, she had skills in scouting and travel didn't bother her. The young wolf enjoyed exploring and was fine with reporting back. Any pack would be able to put her to use. While she wasn't particularly suited for healing or fighting - one look at her stature could prove that, she thought - she was decent at hunting and had been able to provide for herself among her travels. Surely, if they didn't need a scout or messenger, she could help with hunting!

The thought of a home invigorated her, and she walked with purpose as she scented the ground occasionally, exploring these lands with the same fascination as a child would have. The trees here were so large, so much bigger than she could ever remember back home, and it made her feel so very small. Ke paused for a moment, head lifting up towards the sky, the wind ruffling through her fur and sending a chill down her spine. Shuddering, she lowered her head and looked around, brows pulling together. The ground had... purple flowers. She sniffed at it, the scent of it bringing a familiar, warm memory to the forefront of her mind. Ah, lavender. Her nanny had used it to help soothe her in childhood, when she would nightmare of the fire.

Shaking the memory of her traumas away, she turned back to the task at hand. Finding a new home.

It didn't take her awfully long, finding lands that smelled of other wolves, and strongly so. She paused at a particularly strong scent mark, finding it smart to not cross past it, eyes darting around the area. Keahilani didn't want to be caught off guard, nor did she wish to be seen as a trespasser. She was simply trying to find somewhere new, to fit in and be put to use. Somewhere in which there weren't expectations placed upon her for 'greater things' like handling a kingdom. She couldn't do that, and she didn't want to either.

Another moments pause, a beat of indecision, a slow exhale.

Then, inhaling, she let loose a cautious howl. Was anyone nearby? While revealing her location to absolute strangers could be a potentially dangerous idea, she would bet well on herself and chances of outrunning danger. She wasn't a fighter, and her posture was relaxed and easy. It was clear that the svelte female wasn't looking for trouble, but instead a friendly conversation. Maybe an invitation into these lands. Hell, she could hope for both.

Ardyn Adravendi

The Spring afternoon was filled with moorland birdsong, floating bodiless on the mists around him as the High King padded along his patrol route, bells and beads tinkling softly in his mane and tail in harmony with the birds. Feathers, mostly shades of blue, some glowing subtly, gifted from Lyr, fluttered and twisted on the breeze from strands of black mane and tail, the black strands burning white hot from the friction.

Sädir and Lunira had split up, the snow leopard staying with Ardyn, while the younger mountain lion had ranged ahead to scout and burn some extra energy. Lyr plied the wind above, mismatched eyes scanning the land below.

It was the glowing black and white raven who spotted the woman first, still well ahead of Ardyn’s path along the inner edge of the wall. She’d come across the outer line of pack markings, a precursory warning before someone came upon the wall itself.

If she were to look hard enough ahead of her, the wall was just visible through the shrouds of fog. That was if she wasn’t blind… The raven didn’t think she was.

He dropped from the air to wing to a landing on Ardyn’s withers, claws gripping the armor over the King’s torso as he reported the sighting.

A few beats later the howl reached Ardyn’s ears, and he nodded with a light smile, lengthening his strides to a gliding walk.

He stepped through one of the overlaid partings in the wall, where the wall didn’t connect but intersected, with a dire-wolf-sized gap between the outer and inner layers.

To an outside observer, it could have been perceived as the black, flame-flickering wolf had simply appeared, stepping from the air to approach the caller. Who said you couldn’t have just a little fun when greeting a newcomer? Even as a king?

Ardyn padded forward to stand before the woman, taking her in with his own eyes. Warm-toned amethyst – pinker than they were purple - eyes studded a golden-sand colored face, brushed with russet markings and tipped with a liver nose. The rest of her was much the same – warm sand and red stone much like the land north of the Valhallan lands, now claimed by Ashen.

She was maybe a few inches taller than his mother, and perhaps similarly built, though overall there was no relation. Her coat was sleek save for her tail. A good coat for a warm climate, and the West certainly could get hot.

The woman held herself well, frame stating largely that she wasn’t here to bring harm or trouble.

His regard took only a brief moment’s sweep of his eyes before his muzzle dipped in a nod as he greeted easily with a good-natured smile on his light-motifed features, “Good afternoon, Lady. What brings you to the wall of Valhalla?”

Ardyn's family (Red, Aurielle, Siblings, Valhalla) are allowed to crash threads, regardless of private tags.

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.

Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.

More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.

His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.

A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.

Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.

He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.
