Why are there so many of them!?
Celcyki babies

With the help of Oki, they carried the three she had birthed over to where Cy was keeping hers. While they could have stayed in a communal area, she would have felt bad asking Cy to move. This would be easier now that the pups were old enough to move around on their own. Plus she was excited to see the other three pups too! Once they were in sight of Cy’s den, Celeste plopped Delphi down and waited for Oki to do the same to Aji and Hotate. “Be nice to each other,” Celeste cautioned as she gave pointed stares at each of her pups. It would be the only advice she gives before making her way closer to the den. “Cy, we’re here to see some puppies!” She called into the shadows as a smile broke out over her muzzle. Plopping down near the entrance, Cel let out a sigh as she waited to watch whatever trouble the group would get into now that they had some freedom. |

The day has finally arrived when all the pups get to meet. Unagi is eager to be outside and she shifts in the pile of puppies, elbowing Maki in the face and kicking Tama in the side. Mostly it was unintentional but there is a small part of her that wants them to move so she can escape. She is finally able to extract herself from the puppy pile, bumping her mother’s stomach in her bid to gain freedom. With a yawn, she stretches, front end dipping down into a play bow as her front legs move further and further away from her body.
A voice calls out from the entrance of their den and the girl’s mismatched eyes narrow. Sure, she knows that voice is someone she can trust and the fact that she mentions puppies says it all but still, Unagi considers them ‘intruders’. Standing, the chimeric-hued puppy stalks toward the entrance, tail lashing behind her. Without warning, she darts from the den, aiming to run up and tackle one of the other pups. Body streaks toward a grey and red boy and a joyful glint is her eyes as she goes airborne in her tackle attempt. All she can think is how much fun she is having.

Kuroki thought he was a pretty good dad, a cool dad who totally knew what he was doing. Struggling the wiggle beans that were his and Cel's kids to Cy's den was easier said than done, but they managed, just about. Now that they were bigger and able to move about on their own without falling over with every other step, he figured it'd be smart to smush the two litters together. Easier that way, you know? More eyes and adult minds to stop them from doing stupid things..or dangerous stupid things, mostly. To him he loved them all the same, his little splodgy and or chimera beans. Plopping Aji and Hotate down on the floor, he gave his son a playful nudge with his foot, annoying as ever.
"Ahh, this takes me back to when me and my sibs left the den for the first time." He reminisced, putting on an old-timey, old man's voice for the drama. Responsibility wasn't something he had quite grasped yet, it was a work in progress for sure. "Anyway kids, do as your mums say."

Hotate was surely thrilled to be going on the outside but he certainly didn't make it easy. A squirmy guy, hoping he could get free of the hold his parents would have had on him. But of course he was still so little and somehow they seemed to get him handled. Luckily, because otherwise he may have bolted off into the distance. Or what felt like the horizon to him at least.
His ears pulled back as he was plopped down by his father looking very clearly annoyed that things didn't go his way. He wouldn't have much time to think before Oki gave him a little love tap making him over dramatically almost fall over from the push. He wouldn't take it to heart like his father meant him harm, he was just still getting used to legs and balance. Though sitting on his butt he should have had a strong base. Oh well. And not even seconds after that was he being ambushed by some other little girl he had never met before. A lot was going on today it seemed. Though he'd much rather keep his focus on frolicking through the plains if he had the opportunity.
He easily fought back, being toppled over form the surprise and swinging a snapping jaw around. His puppy teeth weren't deadly if they did bite down on a limb or anything. Surely he couldn't get in trouble for self defense.

Maki left out a soft ooof as her sister kicked her in the face, paw settling right between her eyes, just below her nubbins. Whining softly, she clambered to her paws and followed her sister out, curious to see what all the fuss was about. She recognised Dad of course, but the bigger lady wasn't as familiar, nor were the 3 pups she'd bought along with her. Maki felt no sense of alarm or caution around them, rather she was curious and maybe...a little shy. With her tail wagging behind her, she watched as her siblings-full blooded and half-wrestled, fighting in earnest with little teeth nipping. She knew Usagi enough to know she was just like this, pushy in and out of the den, but what of the splogy grey and red wolf?
And even more important than that the world around them was vast and green, with slanted surfaces that were practically begging her to scale to the top and see what was out there. What laid beyond the green valley she knew. She bounded around on clumsy puppy paws, only to realise she'd gotten her feet wet, stepped in the cool and flowing stream that passed through the middle of the passage. With a delighted squeal she jumped on the spot, splashing as her tail wagged into a grey blur.
It was so much more interesting out here than she thought it would be!

Cy was tired. Her back hurt, her neck hurt, everything was cramped up from being stuffed inside the den for so long, and frankly she'd about had it with the whole staying indoors thing. It seemed like the pups were finally old enough to get some fresh air... yeah, that sounded like a good choice. "Outside, outside, all of you. Out, out, out!" She ushered them gently into the sunlight before taking a minute to blink and squint and stretch. The wraith could feel her spine cracking like a glow stick. She gave a biiiiig yawn before finally looking at all six of the beans out in the grass. Their legs were so short, surely they couldn't get into too much trouble... right? She plodded over to Celeste and Oki, flopping down heavily in the grass. "Thought I was doing you a favor, keeping to a separate den in case anything went wrong for either of us, less stress and all... that was a fucken mistake." Cyanide remarked to Cel, her tone dry. She's weary, bordering on downright exhausted as she watches the pups romp and play. Surely they couldn't get into all that much trouble... right? Somehow, Maki had already found a puddle. Unagi was already bowling over her siblings. Tama was-- shit where was he? It took Cy a moment of panic to spot him in the taller grass. It was going to be like this for the rest of their lives now, wasn't it? cyanide he said to be cool but i'm already coolest |

They're unruly at best, and that's part of the fun. The three from their den are out and into the bright spring sun, soaking into it, feeling the warmth on their backs and noses. Suddenly instead of three, there are six... a whole six of them. Tama's head was spinning with the excitement of it all. It's overwhelming, actually. So overwhelming. They're climbing over each other, tripping over each other, romping and rolling in the grass. Hey-- why was Maki wet? Where'd she found a puddle? Confused for a moment, Tamago thinks that he should lay down... and so he does... right where he's standing. Flopping on the grass and rolling into Maki's puddle, coming up all soggy and wet. Yeah, this was cool. Flopping and then rolling in it, the boy lays on his back with his feet in the air. Kicking and rolling, scrubbing his back against the soft grass. Grumbling and growling to himself in the pure excitement of it. What a good day. The best day. The best day of his life so far, the boy decided. All of this, and he had his siblings to share it with. Finally righting himself, the soggy boy sprung upon whatever sibling was within reach. Tag, they were it. |

Delphi struggled the entire time her mother carried her across the field. Annoyed and confused as to why they were being carried, she would have much rather her dad do it. At least his mouth would've been big enough to hold her. Huffing, squirming, and whining the whole way until she was plopped into the grass, Delphi was quick to roll over and hop up onto her paws. Her eyes widened as she looked around. She could see her brother and her sister and now suddenly three more pups? Who were these guys?! They kinda looked more like Taters than her or Aji but they smelled like Dad and not Mum. Squinting her eyes, she watched as "Not Mum" plopped down beside Mum and began talking to her. Ugh, boring adults. Instead, she turned her attention to... there was a lot to pay attention to. How the dirt felt between her toes. How tall this grass was. She could barely see over it! How this other girl went barreling straight for Taters. There were these other two who were jumping and rolling around in what smelled like muddy water. "Ajiiii, lets go see!" She squeaked to her much larger sister, quickly reaching out to nip at her shoulder with her budding fangs before hopping much like a bunny toward Maki and Tama. "What you guys doing?!" Delphi asked excitedly as she tumbled straight for the puddle Maki was jumping around in. Before she could make it, the boy was getting up to his paws and hopping nearly on top of her. A yip let loose as she fell back with a laugh. "Yo!" She flashed her fangs before righting herself and rushing over to the puddle to turn around and splash him back in retaliation. |

(This post was last modified: 04-11-2023, 02:25 PM by Aji. Edited 1 time in total.)
She knew how to walk, for crying out loud. For such a young child, she had the temper of a worn grown-up, her scowl making it abundantly clear that swinging from her father’s jaws was the last thing she wished to do. Hotate’s squirming and dramatic snapping as they were dropped on the earth only further annoyed her. Gods, why were there so many of them? Was it normal for this many babies to exist at one time? She didn’t believe so. Aji rolled her eyes as her father blabbered some reminiscing stuff, standing up on her gangly limbs. Her awkwardly large paws were an indicator of her tall stature as an adult, but right now they were a damn hinderence. "Yeah, yeah, whatever,” She huffed under her breath, padding away calmly compared to the bouncing and skipping her other siblings were doing. Her gaze scanned the world around them in a surface-level disinterest, simply looking for the one sister she’d grown to tolerate prior to leaving their birth den. Delphi. Tiny, but easily one of the ones she felt closest too. As her sister finally came into view, bumbling around her like a bee, Aji glanced over to see what Delphy wanted to explore. Oh, playing in a..puddle. Wow. How thrilling. Aji was definitely the wet blanket of the bunch. The party pooper. The buzzkill. And abnormally bitter for her young age. But fine, fine. She’d explore that puddle or whataver. If it made her most tolerable sister happy. "Sure, fine. Let’s see this puddle,” She said, glancing down at her much shorter littermate. She was painfully average in stature herself - not towering over others like the rest, and not so close to the earth as Delphi - but somewhere in between. Even her coat separated her from the others with his warm coffee and umbre tones, flecked with fiery orange splotches. She didn’t look like..any of her parents and not-mom. She stood out, and for some reason it tugged at her chest a little. Did she even belong? She followed after Delphi as they met up with Unagi and Maki, trying to walk as calmly as her parents. Which was hard, because her stuoid paws were hard to balance on her thin twigs of legs, and she stunbled every so often as she half-trotted over to the others. Just barely on the outskirts of that..nasty looking puddle. As her little sister splashed with glee, she halfheartedly dipped a paw into the puddle, swoshing it around as the tall grass tickled her ears and the sunshine warmed her spine. She clearly lived in her own world, not afraid to get dirty but not thrilled about the prospect of hopping around, either. She glanced down at a small array of yellow and white wildflowers, sniffing them with interest. Hm. Sweet. |

She watched as the other pups came parading out of the den. Pride and excitement sparkled in her eyes as she watched the six pups begin to tangle with each other. Even as Oki told them to listen, Cel didn't mind. Honestly, she didn't care what trouble they would get into as long as they were nice to each other. That's all she wanted. One big happy family. No issues, no qualms, just happy fun times with everyone. She would still wish this as Cy came to plop down beside her. A chortle of sorts left her as she shook her head. "You know that was a bad idea from the start," she responded as she slumped down to lay beside Cy with their shoulders bunched up beside each other. As she enjoyed watching the pups play with each other, she glanced over to grumpy Hotate and sweet Unagi. "Hotate, don't you want to play with Unagi?" Cel asks with a tilt of her head. Both aquamarine eyes watch the boy for a moment, curious as he seems to be the grouchier one compared to sour Aji and chaotic Delphi. Holding back a sigh, she looks over to Oki. "Since you remember when you were young with your siblings, were there any games you guys used to play?" she asks, hoping to prompt a some sort of fun with their brood. |

Kuroki had to think about it for a moment as he plonked his rump down onto the soft grass. The kids all seemed happy and that's all he could really ask for, that and that they didn't grow up to be entirely insufferable. Though the bar was rather low, Oki had grown to be far more laid back than he probably should be. With the three of them plus the band to herd the children he knew they were all well in paw. A family who had one another's backs, how wholesome.
"Lez see... We played in the jungle or on the beach quite a lot. My old man made us run up a mountain once. " He tsked at that, he didn't really intend to make them do anything. Not like that anyway. "Hide 'n seek is probably a bad idea. Tag is always fun though. " He'd have to chase them around later, maybe threaten to eat them like he did with his baby siblings. Weird thought his siblings were only a little older than his own kids.

Hotate fought back against Unagi which may have been expected of an energetic hot headed little guy. As threatening as he felt, he could do little harm and maybe he knew that. The girl was a stranger but she wouldn't be for long. Maybe one day Tate would get a lesson on how to behave himself, manners and all that. Laughable, if he'd even put them to use. He did manage to her his mother who asked if he wanted to play with Unagi, clearly the girl tackling him and he replied in a bit of an annoyed, whiny voice, "Not if she's goin ta be mean!" Very mature.
In the commotion he focused in on his sisters who were playing with the other pups in water and of course in his wired and overstimulated brain it was hard to read the 'room' right. That didn't matter however. He saw Delphie splashing back at some punk who seemed to be picking on her just like this girl was picking on him. He'd manage to get free if only for the moment, Unagi was surely to be quick behind him and probably ready for more. But his new target, Tamago. He wouldn't go barreling on top of him or anything, but went to clumsily bump the other pup with his chest. Puffed and proud maybe, very defensive, careless to the splashes of the puddle. Silly to the adults maybe. It was his sister and he was the big brother after all. He'd learn in time to accept the others maybe sooner than one would think. As much as he couldn't admit right now, this was much more fun than he had ever had before. His face wouldn't show as much.

Unagi is glad she picked the tallest of the three pups as her body slams into the boy, instantly tackling Tate and sending them both rolling along the ground. He fights back and the girl’s tail lashes behind her she growls with a wide-open mouth, striking out at any paws that get too close to her mouth. While she is enjoying herself, the boy seems annoyed and whines when the adult that she doesn’t know asks if he wants to play with her.
Gaining his name, the girl removes herself from his form and gives a small snort of contempt, not finding him a worthy opponent since he complains so much. The other pups play in the nearby water and even Hotate goes toward them, aiming to bump into her brother like he is now the hottest thing around. A smirk tugs at Unagi’s lips as she smugly moves after him, shadowing the boy in an attempt to ward him off of Tamago.
With a snort of contempt toward the stupid pup, the girl moves off to settles into the tall grass nearby, quietly watching everyone play. Tail lazily flicks in annoyance every time they find Hotate but she remains silent. Unagi keeps watch over them all, not partaking in the fun but also not retreating back to the den either. The sun is too nice to pass up.

Grinning, Maki slapped at the puddle with a paw and let out a gleeful little laugh when it splashed her brother as he splayed out on the grass. Not that it mattered much as he'd been rolling around, belly and legs up, soaked as...something very wet. Though she knew her other two siblings best, she was eager to play with the ones who weren't so familiar! They were all family, so couldn't they all be friends too? She was real happy to be out here, in the sunshine and warmth. And she was quick to flop down on the grass as well, legs all drippy wet as she tugged at a stand of grass with her teeth, wondering what it tasted like. Which wasn't very good, to be honest. Yuck.
"Uck." She shook her head, attempting to shake loose the strands of grass that stuck between her teeth. Milk was good, meat too but not grass!
