Paths diverge
Onyx

Manea followed the otter edge of Elysium's territory along the fringes of the Rock Garden. She supposed she could call this a patrol, but she didn't move with any particular purpose and she had left her armor at home. This was far more akin to a leisurely stroll that just so happened to be along the border than a proper patrol. Now that spring was here and their north eastern home was no longer as thickly blanketed in snow, it made more casual walks like this was far more pleasant. It was still fairly cool, given the early spring weather, but she certainly wasn't going to complain.
As she was walking she picked up on the scent of one of her pack members who had clearly done a real patrol very recently ahead of her and she lifted her gaze to peer up ahead, spotting Onyx's blue-hued form moving away from the border as the warrior began to instead move back toward the island or at least a different part of the territory. She considered just noting the other woman's presence and moving on, but Onyx was one of their members that had mostly kept to herself and that she hadn't really gotten to know all that well. She certainly didn't expect to know every member as if they were family, but she did like to check in on them from time to time.
Abandoning her walk for now, she turned to head toward Onyx and catch up with her, picking up a bit of speed to do so. She gave a soft bark to get Onyx's attention, offering the younger woman a soft smile as she came over to fall in step beside her. "Hello," she greeted simply as she matched her pace. "Find anything interesting on your patrol?"

Onyx was just moving to switch shifts with another warrior in Elysium, there were many. As was usual she wondered what else she would do with her day and even more usual she felt like all that straining on thinking would lead her nowhere. As great as this pack seemed to be, it fed it's members well, they seemed to have a more darker alignment and humor that she could get along with, but she still wasn't feeling quite right in her place here. She wasn't making friends not that she made it easy. But even in attempt she just felt like she was on the outside. To no fault of her alpha. It was more just a part of her personality now. Strangers made it difficult.
Manea came up behind her announcing her presence and while Onyx didn't look entirely overjoyed to see her she did pause to let the woman catch up. In her terms that was inviting despite not giving her the wag of her tail or a gentle smile. She nodded slightly in greeting instead, moving steps forward as Manea joined her back towards the island.
Casual conversation, not fun. Definitely not her cup of tea either, but how else was she supposed to get out there? Maybe she wasn't at all. "Oh uh, same old." Onyx hadn't experienced anything fun on her patrols. Everyone else seemed to get the predators or other action. Though... Onyx wasn't really sure if that's what she was looking for. In her whole general life that was. Fighting was fun sure. But would that be enough to make her want to stay. "It's a nice set up you've got here." She commented, maybe obvious that she was holding back more. More emotional things than words. Maybe just seeming like she was telling Manea something she wanted to hear. To no offense of course. But maybe it was easy to tell Onyx was still walking on a thin line.

When it came to news from patrols in her opinion no news was good news so when Onyx replied that it was the same old she wasn’t disappointed. She nodded and replied, “I’m glad our patrol schedule has finally gotten the message through to the local predators. Though I doubt they’ll stay away forever.” She chuckled softly, knowing full well the tenacity of a hungry predator. Walking casually next to Onyx, she glanced toward the blue woman once more when she made a comment about the nice set up they had here. “Thank you,” she replied with a smile. She was always proud of the work she and the others had put in to make the pack a reality. “If there’s anything you think of that we can do to improve or change things around here do let me know. I’m always open to suggestions.”
