K nowing that the Sparse Pines would be the territory Mirovis would expand to once they had the opportunity gave Requiem a focus for his work. The alpha male could begin the process of driving off any predators that lived on the lands and make sure it was free of any lone wolves that dared to try to make this place their home. This was an official eviction notice to the riffraff that were little more than inconveniences in their way. Crossing the border from the Antiox down to the pine forest, Requiem was immediately hit by the scent of bear. A scowl tugged at his lips. Gods be damned, he had just cleared out a grizzly bear from here the other week! Now that they were all waking up from hibernation, he supposed it would only be expected that more showed up. This time, however, the Haihefa noted another scent—still ursine in nature, but younger. A mother and her cub, perhaps?

R eq's scowl deepened. A threatened mother and child were a dangerous pair to tangle with alone. Still close enough to the ship that he could be heard, Requiem lifted his muzzle skyward and let out a call for anyone who wanted to provide him backup and help clear these freeloaders off of their future land. Besides, who in Mirovis would turn down the chance for a good fight and to get a little blood on their fangs?

Since his arrival in Mirovis, Morbid has taking time to allow himself to settling in. This has included decorating his room and making it comfortable with several pelts. Most of them have been from unsuspecting wolves that had the misfortune of crossing his path but there are a few other predator pelts among his hoard. Furs are stretch to cover the walls of his room, helping to dampen the chill that the metal brings in. A fire burns happily in the fireplace, warming the air and making the room more habitable.

While he does not mind the chill most of the time, it is always nice to have a warm place to retreat to for slumber. Satisfied with his work so far, Morbid makes his way out into the cold air of the day. Shaking out his coat, he mentally tallies how many furs he still needs to collect. A howl rings out from the Sparse Pines and the dark man’s head snaps in the direction of the summons. How fortuitous.

With a devilish grin on his lips, the man lopes out to where Requiem waits. Drawing close to the red man, Morbid says, “Shall we take our time?” An eyebrow lifts as a grin tugs the corner of his lips up. Of the course the man doesn’t mean take their time engaging the freeloading mother and cub. No, he wants to enjoy their time playing with the predators. Looking to Requiem, he allows the Haihefa to take the lead.

A s if a moth drawn to a flame, it seemed Morbid could not be kept from any chance to entertain violence. Not long after his call had gone out, the sound of loping paws approaching him turned Requiem's head, and he greeted the dark brute with keen silver eyes. Morbid didn't even ask who or what their target was—he simply wanted to know how they were going to go about it. Morbid was a simple man—he got a chance to do violence and he took it. This was why Requiem liked Morbid. He was predictable in a sense, and wild in another. Requiem smirked and nodded. "With a mother grizzly? Absolutely." Without another word, the crimson and ebon striped brute motioned for his partner to follow him, and deeper into the pine forest he pressed. The scent of the bears was close, but not right upon them. They were likely deeper into the thicket of trees, foraging for food.

R equiem was silent as a shadow as he crept through the trees, winding back and forth and following his nose until he saw a large shape move up ahead past some brush. He froze, paw hovering in the air mid-step, gaze locked on the shape. Then the distinct ursine grunt of a grizzly was heard. They'd found her. Fur bristling with anticipation as adrenaline began to seep into his bloodstream, Req glanced over to Morbid and wordlessly motioned for him to move around the left side. The assassin meanwhile began to move counterclockwise to the right, allowing the wolves to circle around their foe. As he moved into position, Requiem could see that this was the cub, only barely shorter than he was. Mama bear was nowhere to be seen.

N ot wanting to miss his chance at an easy kill, Requiem gave a sharp whistle to signal to Morbid that the game was on. The cub looked up in confusion when it heard the sound just in time to see a bolt of red lightning come charging at it. It bellowed in panic and tried to run, but Requiem was already on top of it, pouncing on the baby bear with fangs going right for its neck to savage it, tearing into fat and flesh and fur as he snarled, attempting to disorient and topple the hefty predator so Morbid could go for its squishy underbelly before its mother showed up.
