i have absolutely no clue
It didn't take a lot for the girl to startle. Being in a new land and knowing absolutely no one was terrifying. Every shadow, every noise, every tiny thing that she wasn't familiar with made her shrink within herself. Her hair stood up along her spine almost constantly along with her tail tucked between her legs. Unlike Mortis, this Sirius guy was not going to follow her around and make sure she was safe. She wasn't expecting him to anyway since he was rather grumpy when they met. Yet without Mortis or Sirius around, she wasn't sure what she was supposed to do. The Warlord had made it very obvious that she had to find something she was good at, but she had no idea what that something should be. Whether her trembles were from fright or being cold up in this northern region, the young girl wandered along the walls of the Col. Sticking to the walls, she tried her best to navigate the warrens. A few days had gone by and she was already noticeably better appearing. She had taken time to groom out her coat and eat enough so that her bones weren't sticking out nearly as much. Overall, she was still thin and weak looking so it wouldn't be difficult for anyone to notice she didn't quite belong there. Her breaths were shallow and quick as her baby blue eyes darted back and forth. Continuing to wander and explore, she hoped no one would jump out and scare her. |
A lull in entertainment brought the young Fatalis out into the Warrens, where he happened upon an unfamiliar scent. There were hints of his father's scent underlying the feminine scent trail, but not very much. A new recruit? Curiosity bade him follow along, hoping for someone to talk to while he took a break from crafting for the afternoon. It took a little while to reach the source of the scent trail, a dark coloured fae who seemed to be hugging the edges of the tunnels. While it was a familiar habit, one the dun coloured boy had picked up himself- he did this out of necessity, being built like a freight train meant that he needed to be aware of how much room he left for others to pass him by. This petite female seemed to be doing this out of fear, her flanks nearly scraping the cool stone with each step. "Are you lost, miss?" he rumbled quietly, deep baritones echoing off the walls of the tunnel even though he tried to keep them measured. Cringing a little at his own volume, he lowered his head between his shoulders, tipping it to the side so he could meet her eyes from a lower angle. He knew he was big and bulky and sharp looking, and she seemed anxious enough already. "I can help you find where you're going, if you want." he added with a lopsided smile, plush tail waving lightly against his hocks. It was only right, to make sure she wasn't left wandering around in circles for hours. |
The girl was so focused on keeping track of where she was that she barely heard the boy approach. It was as if he suddenly came out of nowhere. One moment she was walking all by herself through the dim corridors, counting each step she took and every breath she inhaled and exhaled. In the next, there was a beast of a boy lowering his head down to her level. A gasp pulled from her agape mouth as she scuttled backward. He didn’t appear nearly as large as Mortis or Sirius but damn near close. Her baby blues widen as her body trembles even more. Lowering herself as close to the floor as she can without laying down, she ensures that her tail is between her legs and ears are flattened against her head. Tilting her chin down toward the cold floor, she closes her eyes and waits for whatever it was that he was going to do. When nothing came and he kindly offered to help, she peeked one eye open and up at him. So maybe everyone was as nice like Mort… Maybe she could trust this pack… Her mouth had closed but open again and then closed once more. She shakes her head softly as she lifts a paw to her throat as if to signal she cannot speak. |
The pure terror that seemed to claim the diminutive fae immediately after he spoke was heartbreaking, and he scolded himself mentally for not making his approach more obvious. Usually the plodding gait and subtle vibrations of his bulk moving down the tunnel gave him away, but it was easy to miss if you hadn't grown up in these tunnels. He held still for a few beats, joints loosening to further lower his burly frame towards the cool stone floor. He was plenty patient, and he could wait until she felt safe enough to open her eyes again. One brilliant blue eye squeaked open, pupil wide as it fixed on him. Then the other opened, and the young warrior's eyes crinkled in the corners as he smiled at her- lips carefully kept closed over his teeth. The fae opened and closed her mouth, shook her head lightly. There was a gesture made with one tiny paw towards her mouth and throat, and it took a moment for him to recognize what was going on. "Oh," he gasped, bobbing his head in understanding. "sorry! You don't have to talk, you can just nod for yes or shake your head for no, and I'll try to ask easier questions." he decided, keeping voice low and posture nonthreatening. Not an easy task, but manageable at least. Splaying his broad paws, he shifted his weight to slowly lift himself back up to his feet. He kept his head lowered between his shoulders so he could better see her movements in the low light of the tunnels. "You're probably looking for something, yeah?" he asked first, taking a hesitant step forward. What was down this way? Gunmetal gaze narrowed slightly as he thought to himself, brow furrowed for a moment. "Down this way is the uhh, the kitchen, food larders, and the baths. There's a few spare caves that we mostly use for storage too." he added, glancing back to see if he got any kind of response to that little list of destinations. |
The girl is still uncertain of the titan, but the unease drifts away quickly. She watches him nod in understanding, purposefully appearing non-threatening, even as he slides to his paws. Why was everyone here so large? She wasn't tiny by any means, but compared to him, she felt tiny. Blinking up at him, she could not help but smile when he told her that she didn't have to speak. Which was a good thing because she literally couldn't remember how to. That was a bit hard to explain but as long as it didn't anger him that she was mute, they would do fine.
For a few moments, her body would stay close to the ground as he ruminated over what was down the hallway. His cautious movements were still rather startling but not enough to cause her to startle. Instead, she continued to keep her blue gaze on him, eyes wide and ears attentive. Taking in all of his movements, she studied him. How he breathed, how his toes shifted, the way his head stayed beneath his shoulders. He was... caring, empathetic, and nice. His voice, though rumbling and deep, was tender and friendly. Did she really deserve to be treated so nicely? It wasn't concerning when it was just Mortis, but other than the Warlord's standoffishness, everyone was decently friendly here. It put her on edge for some reason that she could not figure out.
When he asked if she was looking for something and then told her what was down the hall, her head tilted slightly to the side. Kitchen, food larder, and baths. Hm, not exactly what she was looking for. Really, she wanted to go outside, but the tunnels had gotten her turned and twisted around. Even if her stomach was rumbling quietly, she turned to look back the other way. Thinking for a moment, she couldn't figure out how to tell him that food did sound nice, but she was craving the warmth of the sun and the flutter of the wind. Letting out a defeated sigh as she turned to look back at him, there was now a frown upon her lips. Lifting her shoulders into a shrug, she tried to hold back the well of emotions that threatened to overflow. How was she supposed to get by if she couldn't communicate?
