Everything happened so fast, yet so slow at the same time. The clouds had swiftly shifted head bringing promises of a horrible storm. Flashes of light traced through the skies. Thunderous booms causing your very core to rumble violently. Waves of heat, yet cold tracing through the air. One could only shiver. There was nothing anyone could do to prevent just what exactly we were heading into. The waves violently not allowing the ship to turn, instead they took us where they pleased like the hands of a child playing with a toy ship. We were helpless. And judging by my leaders eyes, hopeless as well. He knew the same thing I did. There was no way to avoid it, just simply go with it. And although he was a ruthless leader, our captain... He couldn't break it to his devoted men.. He said nothing. He simply allowed them to carry on their own ideas, turning the sail. Pulling the wheel, everything you could imagine we watched them do... Nothing seemed to work.

All I could do myself was look upwards, my own blue orbs focusing on the captains bearded face. Defeat shone in his cloudy pools. Everyone was afraid of death, despite who you were.. And we were no different. I felt his rough and calloused hand land upon my furry forehead shaking it back a forth a bit roughly. His chunky form kneeling upon the creaking boards as he became eye level with me. Another rough pat to the head was offered before his rough tone hit my auds 'Aye, a dead man tells no tales' He offered a laugh and then looked to the waters... Truthfully I had no idea what the hell he said. But it didn't sound to triumphant in my opinion. I followed his gaze to the angry waters. And then laid my own body against the wooden planks. Chin sent to rest upon my front paws. Now just waiting for death to creep upon me. I waited to feel the waters fill my lungs... Drowning.. Something I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.

Rain spat upon me from the heavens. I could do nothing but allow my lids to cover my blue eyes. I could hear their screaming. It echoed through my ear drums but I refused to open my eyes and face the realities. The ship was sinking. Boards were flying off and taking people with them. I could smell the coppery aroma that the blood offered and people were being decapitated with wood and metal that was flinging about. It wasn't until I felt the huge wave clash upon my body that my lids flew open. I could feel the weight knocking the air clear from my lungs. The salty waters burned my eyes and filled my lungs as I struggled to move, with no prevail. It was then a rather large chunk of wood came clashing upon my skull, knocking me smooth out. And so lifeless I lay upon the debris floating towards the shore. Surely I was dead. Not a inch of me moved, just the faint breathing as the debris pushed onto the sand... However limp I remained.

She was a mess, a wreck. She had been betrayed too many times, by too many people. Her heart was good, truly, she wanted no vengeance, she wanted no retribution for the wrongs that had been done to her countenance, she only wished for peace in her own mind and soul. Perhaps, this was why she had not yet joined a pack. This soul searching, this hunt for her own redemption... she didn't need a pack or an army of allies who only knew her by name and not by her heart, no this was something she needed to do alone. To conquer her own demons no matter how small or miniscule they may have seemed to another.

The rain was thick and heavy here. Berating the earth with a ferocity unmatched, her icy blue eyes blinked against the heavy onslaught of the rain, she needed to find shelter, even her thick coat would do her no good if she stayed out in this much longer. The sand beneath her pads felt like the thickest muck. Sucking her down and squishing between her toes. She winced and fought against the sucking of the grains. There was no way she was scaling the mountainside in this weather, she would need to find shelter in the trees.

A flash of gray caught the corner of her eye and she paused, squinting against the onslaught of the rain and drew closer. It was a wolf. Soaked through to the bone and teetering on the edge of consciousness. Her crystalline eyes widened and in an instant she was flying across the sands, forgetting her own safety. A blur of white and she was upon him. He was larger than her by several inches, he outweighed her too, but she couldn't just leave him here. She glanced around her, there was no one else, she could save him or she could let him die. She nuzzled his cheek with the tip of her nose, alerting his to her presence.

"My name is Evelette, I need to get you out of the rain, can you stand?" She had to raise her voice slightly to be heard above the rain. If he couldn't she would drag him. She was not one to let someone die if there was something she could do to save them.

Hours seemed to have gone by and I couldn't even find the strength to lift my lids. Even breathing seemed nearly impossible at this point. My body hurt, my bones ached my muscles felt as if they were of no use. I had been stranded amonsgt the sea for so long, no water no food my body was exhausted. I never knew just how much I relied on those two leggers until now. They kept me fed, they kept my hydrated. Now I had nothing.

I could feel the droplets of water stinging my flesh, the rapid cold salty waters of the ocean rolling up and covering me like a blanket and then vanishing. I was like a person in a coma.. I could hear everything, I could feel everything, but I just couldn't move. My body remained limp against the thick, mushy grainy sands. As the storm continued I could feel my body tremble, helplessly. Such a sad sight. A brute of my stature so helpless. Everything I had ever lived for had demolished. Could you blame me?

It was then as I was once more falling into the black ness that I felt the warmth against my own drenched cheek. It felt nothing like the roughness of the captains hand.. It was soft, well what I could gather anyway. Only one ear offered a twitch.. Maybe this was it. Maybe this was my angel coming to whisk me away? No that could not be possible.. For the lives I had slain surely it was one of the devils little minions come to drag me to hell. To burn in the firey depths. Either way I was willing to join them. To all for once disappear into the darkness. Just as I went to inhale what I thought was my last breath, something else happened.

The sweet lyrics entered my ear drums. Taking me by complete surprise. Which in fact forced me to struggle to lift my own lids. Piercing blue orbs fixed upon the one before me. Surely it must be an Angel, no way a demon could hold such a beauty! Why even against the blackness of the storm and furiousness of the thick rain her vibrant beauty shone above it all. Of course I had to blink a few times but didn't offer to move. I remained stunned. This couldn't be reality, it had to be death. Or perhaps the lack of nutrients had be seeing things? Was she an illusion? Just something my mind created and projected out of no where. Might as well humor myself either way.

Aye'

Was all I said before going to attempt to force myself upon all fours, which by the way was a horribly failed attempt. I got perhaps half way up before my own massive body collapsed with a thud back to the mucky earth beneath me. My own words, a thick heavy accent escaped once more in a rather broken sentence as my lids closed again.

Lass, if its an angel you are, I be ready. Won' put up a single struggle this time'!

As my lids closed once more I muttered out again, almost as if I were at a delusional point. This time words barely audible.

Afterall, a dead man, he tells no tales now do' he.

And once again my body had went completely useless. Breaths still slow.

Evelette had placed her trust in too many, she held too much kindness and not enough cruelty and people used her. They abused her good nature, took from her what they would and left her alone. Again and again, she made the same mistakes, it was why she was so hesitant to rejoin a pack, to become part of a company once more meant placing within them her trust and Evie did not think she held much of that left, but that did not mean she was bitter and angry. No... she was a kind and gentle soul, she always had been and she always would be. It was a fact, and her heart would not allow her to abandon such a wounded creature no matter how cruel or vindictive they might have been.

She spoke as softly as she able over the heavy pounding of the rain. He didn't seem to be injured, dehydrated and malnourished, but nothing that wasn't fixable. He needed help, would not survive the week without it and she did not think twice about accepting the role. He spoke, his accent strange and bizarre but reaching her audits with ease. She smiled encouragingly as he attempted to stand, but that smile quickly fell as he slumped back to the earth. His words were groggy and barely discernible but she understood them, shaking her head slightly, a gentle smile painted upon her maw.

"I am no angel my friend, of that I can assure you. Evie. Call me Evie." Her words were soft, gentle, and she debated her next best course of action. In all reality, there was only one. She brought the tip of her snout to his ear once more. "I'm going to move you off of the beach, get you outta the rain. This might hurt a touch, but you need to be free from the cold."

She coiled her teeth around his scruff as gently but as firmly as she could. She knew she would puncture his flesh but she had no way else of moving him. Using all of her strength and body weight, she dragged him across the sands and towards the trees. He was damn near unconscious now, it was a kin to moving dead weight, but she wouldn't give up. Her muscles screamed their protest against his weight but she ignored her own body for now. She dragged him beneath the cover of the trees, one of the larger blocking the majority of the unrelenting rain and released him. She lapped at the wounds, apologizing for them, before sticking her nose to the earth.

Rabbit holes were frequent in these parts, and she couldn't bring him fresh water, he would need to rise to reach fresh water to get up, he would need energy. She tracked down one of the holes the heavy rain, forcing the rabbits closer to the surface. he claws tore through the moist dirt as she dug for the creature and when it sprung free, her jaws snapped forward, catching and breaking its neck in a split second.

She raced back to the fallen wolf and dropped the hare, mere inches from his maw. She curled her body around his back, feeding him whatever little warmth she possessed. She wrapped her neck around his own, listening from the dull thrum of a pulse. It was still there, he was still alive. She curled as tightly against his body as she could, unsure if he was still conscious or not.

"Its not much, but a hare should give you enough nutrients and energy to make it to the river, I will help you once you awaken." She murmured against his ear ever so softly. A part of her thought that maybe if she could just save his life, do something right for once, that maybe, she would gain a bit of redemption.

I had remained 'out of it' for quite some time now. Probably hours at this point. My body had become numb. Completely limp and nothing but pure dead weight (which even being malnourished was quite the amount of lard just lying there). I had seen the vibrant beauty for just a second against the rain, assuming that she had been an angel there to whisk me away into the heavens. Far to pretty to be a slave of the devil coming to send my soul to the fiery pits of hell. What she had said after I had spoke was beyond me. I was no where near coherent enough to understand her. Hell at this point I hadn't even felt her grip upon my nape nor did I feel her dulled canines slipping beneath my own thick flesh. Although I felt nothing now that didn't mean I wouldn't be feeling it upon waking up!

Some how the petite smaller dame managed to drag my limp carcass across the mucky sand, although it was a bit of a struggle she did prove that looks could be deceiving! Power and strength brew from those of various sizes! To bad I wasn't awake to witness it myself at this time. But givin the circumstances. If I were awake I would be beyond bewildered that is a fact.

She had gone and captured a bit of a meal laying it down before my snout, however at this time I couldn't smell it. Nor could I feel the warmth of her body wrapped around mine. Time seemed to move so slow, tick tick tick tick... Hours could have went by for all I know. By the time my pulse began to strengthen slightly, the rain had seemed to have stopped. Slowly I could feel the stinging in my neck grow stronger and stronger, the scent of the hare now reaching my nostrils. Everything seemed to hit me all at once. I could feel the pressure against my back. Confusion began to overwhelm me now.. Last thing I could remember was being lost at sea.. Floating on a piece of the destroyed ship.... Slowly more visions entered my thoughts. I remember opening my eyes only to be stung my droplets of rain... I remember sand... Then blackness..... Then I remembered another standing there. One that looked just like me, long snout.. Triangular ears, fur coat... And I understand what she said, although I couldn't recall her words... She did stand out against the darkness that surrounded me. Perhaps it was a figment of my imagination. Something I would only see in my dreams.. Silence engulfed me. And after a while of lying ever so still I finally allowed my lids to rise.. Tree's.. I saw a lot of tree's.. Surely that means I'm still alive? I spent most of my days out upon the sea but I do remember seeing tree's before and so they do truly exist.

The thick aroma of meat filled my wet black nostrils, and it caused my jaws to water annoyingly and so I did what any other being would do.. I slowly lifted my head, not to high only inches from the ground, I did however extend out a bit to clasp the furry little creature in my jaws.. Not asking questions yet like where the hell did it come from? Surely no creature would randomly sacrifice itself like this.. Well, unless suicidal perhaps? I outstretched one paw to hold it down, clasping a piece of the back within my jaws and pulling the flesh from the spinal cord. Scarfing it down with barely chewing it. Which did cause me to choke a bit but the hell with it. I'm hungry! It was just then that I realized I was not alone. Oh no... Was I captured?! Was I caught those whom wished death upon me? I wanted to leap onto all fours just to determine where I was but I lacked the strength to do so. And so instead I slowly turned my head to examine where the pressure upon my back was coming from. The warmth of anothers body ever so close to my own nearly sent me in a frenzy. But instead of lashing out, I merely examined the white drenched furry thing beside me. Speaking not a word at this point.

The dame, however sore herself, did not move from her silent vigil of this dark stranger. He was dehydrated, half starved to death, and practically upon deaths door, even with a small meal and a drink from the river, it would take him several days, if not a few weeks to regain his full strength. He was several sizes larger than she and the rabbit would do little for him. She would need to catch him something decent once her muscles healed a touch. She knew she had ripped the muscles in her hind legs, dragging him this far. It would take her a few weeks to get up to par as well, but at least rabbits and hares were plentiful and she could still catch one of them.

She kept herself from nodding off, forced herself to fight sleep and remain watchful over the barely conscious wolf within her embrace. She checked his pulse periodically, to make sure he remained stable enough... not that she could do much if he wasn't. Evie was no healer. A warrior of Arkhein with a kind heart. She had never belonged to the ruthless pack, but they had taught her to fight and she could fight well, but healing someone was an entirely different story, other than a few basic painkillers she knew nothing of vegetation or herbs. With a sigh she stayed awake, feeling his heart beat through his back and taking satisfaction in the fact that he had not died on her yet.

He stirred finally, slowly, groggy and she lifted her head from his back, allowing him his space, he had not yet seemed to notice her, but the hare was another story entirely. One massive paw came to trap the thing before heavy jaws tore the beast to ribbons, thick teeth destroyed the creature, swallowing chunks of it whole while his esophagus protested the thick consumption and forced him to gag. She was glad she had retrieved the thing, it seemed at least to help him somewhat. When he had finished he turned to face her, not speaking, but the wild look in his eyes demanded of her questions.

"My name is Evelette. Tell me what you remember?" She kept her breathing low and calm, her heartbeat slow and steady, even her voice was the essence of gentleness. She had no desire to hurt him but that did not mean the gesture of kindness would be returned. She knew nothing of this stranger and he could decide she was a threat at any given moment, she kept that, always, in the back of her mind. "I am the one that procured the rabbit for you. I mean you no ill intent."

Even I had to admit that the hare, although small, did due me some good. And although it had been dead for quite a little while, it still tasted fresh and moist. Even I knew the little furry creature didn't sacrifice itself because it felt sorry for my butt... And I knew for a fact I didn't sleep hunt and catch it myself and so I had came to the assumption that the lovely damn that remained next me was the one that had brought it to me. Although I could be wrong. It was merely an assumption. I remained speechless until she spoke up. Instead I merely examined her. And even after she did speak I continued to remain ever so silent...

She could be on the opposing side. That's very much a possibility. But if that were the case I'd be within a small metal cage surrounded by bars, or draped with chains... She wouldn't dare sit so close to me if that were true... But then who was was she? We couldn't be on the same side, I would have seen her before... After all it wasn't like the ship was the size of an island. We knew everyone. Wait where was my captain? And the rest of the crew? Huge ears swiveled forward upon my crown as I searched the area with the upmost concern. But I saw no one.. No one that I knew anyway. Inhaling deeply I tried to catch whiff of the captains potent aroma, but found nothing. I didn't dare to try to move around to much even I was under the realization that I was far to weak to fumble around.

Turning back to face the broad once again I continued to try to remember just what the hell happened. She had to have been on my side, there is no way she was one of the others.. She surely would have slit my throat by now, letting me drown within my own blood.. Instead she seemed concerned, the worry and exhaustion shone within her own captivating blue orbs. Yet her voice remained mellow, not a flaw within her words. If she did infact save my life I would be forever in her debt, that was the code in which we lived by in the sea. After all, as far as I know my captain had saved me, and I continued to be grateful even after six years.. Of course I wasn't exactly sure what he had saved me from.. But he did care for me and provided me all the essentials in which I needed to live. You see, sure the pirates upon the sea are ruthless killers, basically scavengers a float but we do have a code of conduct. Catch one of them alone, and help in any way shape or form and your life be spared, basically. Finally I figured I had been quiet far to long, poor lass was probably thinking I was a mute by now, or deaf one of the two. And so I cleared my throat briefly before speaking. My own strange accent tainting that rough and rugged voice of mine. Never really had to talk back on the ship, hell they were all two-leggers. Never knew what I was saying anyway.

Diabolitio is wha' they called me.

I offered her a polite dip of my cranium even if it did cause me to have to strain my neck muscles to the fullest. A sharp stinking pain still resided there, I'd get to that later. Perhaps a sea serpent got a hold of me, hell if I know. Then I continued to try to remember what had happened previously. Well over a week ago, hell I should be dead!

Aye, well.. I dun remember much... I remember a storm a brewing. A feisty one a'tha'! It tore the ship apart, plank by plank... That be it. It seemed to take ferever and I awake for a second on sand. Not sure how I be there...

I offered her a shrug as I continued to think.... What else happened? Everything was such a blur.. No vivid memories.. Then again I did just snap out of an a coma, perhaps it'll come back to me later? I went back to searching the area for missing people, found nothing.... Attention then went back to Miss Evelette who remained by my side. Just looking at her told a tale of a kindred spirit. But deep down inside shone a little spark of hurt and pain. Some ones eyes told alot about them. But it certainly didn't take any of her beauty away.

That be all I can r'member. And thank you lass for the rabbit, it sure did hit the spot. Now I really mus' be goin' I got a few others to fin'. Yer hospitality is greatly ap'reciated. An' I am forever in yer debt that be a fact.

I had decided to get onto all fours which wasn't really a bright idea. I could feel my very legs shaking beneath my deteriorated body before I collapsed... I knew I was weak.. But blimey I didn't know I was that weak! I offered a frustrated huff in disgust before looking over to her once more.

'er perhaps maybe I be stayin' 'ere for a little longer.

I offered her a coy little smile, feeling pretty humiliated at this point.

She did not make a habit of injuring herself for the benefit of a stranger, in fact she wasn't really sure why she had done so to save this loner. She knew nothing of him, his name, where he came from, was he a part of one of the packs? Had the tide merely washed away the scent? Or was he a rogue? A cold blooded killed that would no sooner end her life as soon as he was strong enough to do so? She sighed almost silently to herself, she supposed it mattered little what his intentions were, she never could leave a creature to die, no matter how foul, that didn't mean she would stick around, but she would at least see to it that he was well enough to fend for himself.

He remained absolutely silent. Not a flicker of a sound escaped his maw. She had heard him speak the night before, she knew he could, but perhaps he merely thought not too, this venture would prove a great deal more difficult. Her mind whirled with what to do first, he would still be too weak to hunt or to be left alone, but should she attempt to procure something else for him to eat or help him find water first. She could smell the fresh flowing waters of a stream not too far, perhaps if she could help him there, he could drink at his own leisure while she hunted for food? That could work, but how to tell him as such? If he did not speak to agree or deny her plan... what use were words? She sighed softly, ears flickering backwards as she thought of how best to approach this. Luckily... she wouldn't have too. He cleared his throat and her audits swung forward, listening for whatever he might tell her.

"Diabolito... it tis a pleasure to make your acquaintance." She relaxed considerably as he voiced to her his name. Perhaps this would not be so painful after all. He dipped his cranium to her and she smiled. She had not anticipated being thanked, hell she hadn't expected him to speak, much less do so respectfully. That was unexpected. Not unpleasant but unexpected. She had asked him what he remembered mainly to test his motor skills and his memory. Did he have lasting nerve damage, or perhaps memory loss? But it seemed he was remembering everything quite well.

He spoke of a ship and a storm, and her ears swung backwards, her teeth gently gnawing on her lip, she, herself had never encountered a human but knew damn good and well that no pack of wolves could commandeer a ship. Evelette had been patrolling these sands for weeks. Not a foreign scent had graced her sensitive nose and not a two legged walker had been seen. If he was from a pack of these humans, he would not find them here. Guilt and sadness gnawed away at her like a starving rat, she knew it was not her fault nor was it his, but she felt bad for him, his entire earth was about to be turned upside down and there was nothing she could do about it. Before she could move to speak, he continued, wanting to find his lost companions. He rose to stand and crashed back down to the earth, at least he could move all four of his limbs.

"Relax... you have not had fresh food or drink in several days, it will take you some time to regain your strength, you are lucky to be alive and in one piece." She sighed, wondering how best to tell him where he was, she hated to be the bringer of any negative news, but she needed to be here lest he wander forever searching for companions he would likely never find.

"This land is called Alacritis. It tis dominated mainly by wolves. There are no humans that inhabit this island, nor have I scented one as of late and I have been wandering these beaches for quite some time. It tis possible that your companions are here but it tis unlikely." Could he hunt? Did he know how to survive without a human hand? So many questions, so many thoughts but for now she would still them. Allow her words to sink into his skull. She shook her head, it was not her job to delegate his actions and she rose, shaking the dust and debris from her coat.

"Regardless of whether or not you intend to track them, you need your strength, there is a stream not far from here, if you lean upon me, do you think you could make the walk?"

Speech,
