After a brief visit to the land of the marsh birds–and after picking up a temporary traveling companion–he finally made the trip out to crescent-shaped island. The swim was certainly not the easiest he had ever done with the waves tossing them about a bit over the quarter mile it took them to make it to the first sliver of sand, but they did eventually make it. He drug himself up onto the white sand beach and made a good shake, spraying water all over as he tried to rid his coat of as much salt water as he could manage. "That was a heck of a swim, huh?" he questioned as he glanced back at Calico Jack, offering him a grin before turning his two-toned gaze back toward the lush foliage in front of them. "What an interesting shaped island..." he mused as he started making his way forward, letting the sun dry his coat as they began to follow the curved land along she beach. He didn't know if there was any secrets to be found here, but if nothing else they'd have a nice landscape to enjoy for a while.

"Remus Armada"

The swim out to the crescent shaped island was not long however, the water was choppy. Luckily, Calico Jack has been swimming in the ocean since the day he could leave his home den and that meant he is a strong swimmer. Plus, if he ducked underneath the waves, the water calmed significantly. By the time the pair reach the white sandy beaches, Remus appears to have struggled more with the swim and the boy is barely winded. Oops, maybe Calico should have shared his secret about diving underneath the water.

Jack easily steps from the water, staying far enough from Remus that, when he shakes out his coat, he avoids most of the flying water and sand. The boy follows suit, sending droplets of ocean water every which way. Looking to Remus, the boy nods his acknowledgement at the words while he tilts his head to try and rid his ears of excess water. The man looks at the foliage in front of them and comments about the shape of the island just as Calico finishes ridding his other ear of water. One more shake and the boy is satisfied that he has gotten most of the water out.

Looking to Remus, the boy says, “It seems like the shape of the island helps to buffer this inner cove area from the rough waters around it. Look how still the water is.” A paw lifts to point at the flat water further in the cove as he muses, “I bet this would be a great place to go fishing.” Jack turns his icy blue gaze back to Remus and the dense foliage that lays further ahead. A smirk appears on his lips and he asks, “We going in?” Eyes dance with excitement as he looks ahead of them.


"Calico Jack"

Remus glanced up in the direction the wind was blowing and then back to the water that was sheltered by the crescent shaped island as Jack pointed out how the shape of the island was protecting the water there from the wind. It was easy to see how much smoother the water was compared to the choppy waves they had just made their way through. "Yeah, you're right," he agreed with a nod. Jack obviously had more experience with water and likely fishing than he had so he had no doubt that he was also right about it being a good spot for fishing. "Maybe we'll have to test that theory before we leave," he said with a grin. He wouldn't mind a good snack after a swim like that! He'd need some time to rest up before they swam back at least. It would give them plenty of time to explore this island and see what it had to offer. As if reading his mind, Jack asked if they were going in with a looks on toward the dense foliage ahead of them and Remus grinned as he nodded. "Absolutely!" He forged ahead, finding their way into the trees of this interesting island and starting to pick his way through the undergrowth, enjoying the shade that it offered.

"Remus Armada"

The still ocean water mirrors the sunlight with dazzling clarity as it causes the clear water of the cove to shine as if it is a pure sapphire. Growing up on a beach where the ocean was within spitting distance has given Calico Jack an apperception for the bounty that the seas have to offer. He mentions how the fishing must be here to his traveling companion Remus and the man agrees with a nod. A grin tugs up one side of the boy’s mouth as the taller man mentions testing the theory before they leave and Jack happily says, “Yeah! I can show you a few tricks I have learned too.”

All thoughts of fishing are put aside as they pair look at the foliage ahead of them and Calico Jack questions if they are going in. Remus grins and replies and, together, the pair forage on, breaking past the tree line and into the undergrowth beyond. Around them, large leaves hang down, brushing the boy’s patchwork coat as he passes underneath. Colorful birds sing from their perches in the trees, rebuking the pair for disturbing the peace of the day. Flashes of color dart through the foliage as animals of all shapes and sizes, flee before the wolves. All the boy can do is stare in awe at the beauty around them.


"Calico Jack"

A grin lingered on Remus' lips as he walked through the tropical foliage of the secluded island, peering up through the branches to catch glimpses of colorful birds before they took off to roost somewhere else. Walking the crescent-shaped island, he noticed that this place did feel mostly untouched. He doubted that many wolves made the swim out here to see it so it was quite beautiful in a wild growing, tropical kind of way. He could still see the bright gleam of the sun off of the protected, still water of the inlet at the center of the island through the trees. If it wasn't such a hassle to make it out here this would probably be a frequent visiting spot of his. He would probably come back one day, but for now he'd just have to rely on his memory to take all of this in and savor it so he could think back to it later. After walking for a while and taking in the nature of the island, he glanced over to Calico Jack and nodded toward back toward the beach in the center of the island. "Why don't you show me some of those fishing tricks? I'm getting hungry from all this exploring!"

"Remus Armada"

The crescent-shaped island is filled with colorful birds of all shapes and sizes and many of them, Calico Jack has never seen before. It is a beautiful place and the huge, fat leaves of the foliage dip down toward the tall wolves, seeming to wave at them as they pass. Sweet fruits dangle from trees, adding their sweet aroma to the air and causing Calico’s mouth to water with anticipation. Animals clamber through the undergrowth, calling out their ire at the males for disturbing their peaceful rest.

Icy eyes are wide with wonder as the pair plod onward, a sense of discovery pulling Calico Jack further and further inland. It feels as if they the first wolves to set paw in this tropical paradise and, while he knows it isn’t true, there is just something so pure and untouched about the land. Mouth drops with wonder as Jack looks around and sadness suddenly tugs at his heart because he knows this visit will be all too brief. It was beautiful and serene and, when Remus looks to him and nods towards the beach, the boy feels his heart flutter with despair.

But a grin pulls his lips up at the request for learning some fishing tricks and Jack is more than happy to oblige. Joyfully, he says, “Of course! Thanks for letting tag me along on your adventures.” A wink his tossed toward the older man as leads the way toward the beach, leaving the beauty and splendor behind him.
